I hope you’re watching Syfy‘s new take on the world of creepy, sci-fi mystery, and not just because I happen to live in Bangor, Me. Haven, based on Stephen King‘s The Colorado Kid, has so far proven itself as an interesting mix, despite following in the footsteps of some shows that didn’t quite make the grade on network television.
Eric Balfour stars as Duke Crocker, and he recently took part in a fun Q & A to talk about the show.
Let’s jump right in, and afterward I have a clip from tonight’s episode for you.
I think we’ve all seen the previews for this episode and you’ve got some pretty heavy makeup and prosthetics on. I just wondered if you could talk about the process of I guess getting into that look and how was it to work with that?
Eric Balfour: Yes.

Ever since we were little kids and read our first StephenKing novel (yes, our older siblings let us do that thing when ourmom wasn’t watching), one of our greatest fears has been waking up in one ofhis backwoods towns. Luckily, that never happened to us.
But it has happened to Emily Rose and Lucas Bryant, who starin the new series Haven, which is based on the King short story “The ColoradoKi.” Now, they wake up every day during production in the remote town ofLunenberg, Nova Scotia, where the crew makes very King-like things happen.
In a recent interview they talked about their characters,Audrey Parker and Nathan Wournos, and how the town of Haven comes to lifethrough Lunenberg. Series Creator and Executive Producer Sam Ernst chimed in. Readwhat they have to say and see it for yourself when Haven airs on Syfy everyFriday at 10:00 Pm.

Tonight is the second episode of Haven, the new Syfy series based on a novella by Stephen King called The Colorado Kid. It stars Emily Rose (ER, Brothers & Sisters, and Jericho) as an FBI agent who goes to a small village called Haven looking for a killer, but in the process finds a town full of people with supernatural gifts.
We spoke with Emily and Mark Stern, Evp of Original Content for Syfy, about the idea for the show, Stephen King's involvement, and strong female characters.
Q: Talk a little bit about the idea for the series?
Mark: Well on the network side, [it] came to us from Pillar, Segan, and Shepard, the guys who did The Dead Zone. And they had a great pilot from Sam [Ernst] and Jim [Dunn] that we really thought was great. They're great characters, great dialogue, really interesting concept that felt...

It may seem strange to talkabout the final episode of a series on the day of its premiere. And let usstart by saying that we hope it’s a long time before the Haven series finaleoccurs, but we were happy to discover in a recent interview that the show’sproducers already know how their brand new show is going to end.
That’s more than can be saidfor a lot of cliff-hangery series that take us down a long and convoluted pathfor years only to leave us with more questions than answers in the seriesfinale – yes, Lost, we’re talking to you.
Here’s how Haven’s ExecutiveProducer Sam Ernst explained the new series in a recent conference callinterview:
Sam: We have two elements tothe show. One is we are going to meet in each episode a supernaturallyafflicted person like we did in the...
