Film is inspired by male synchronised swimming doc Men Who Swim; Icon takes UK rights.
HanWay Films has acquired world sales rights for Swimming With Men, which stars Rob Brydon as a man who joins a synchronised swimming team in a bid to win back his estranged wife.
The comedy is based on a screenplay by Aschlin Ditta inspired by the acclaimed documentary Men Who Swim. Oliver Parker (Johnny English Reborn) is directing.
Icon Film Distribution has already snapped up UK and Ireland distribution rights.
“Oliver Parker’s ability to combine laughs and touching performances seamlessly with incredibly funny physical comedy, should mean anyone who enjoyed Johnny English Reborn will love Swimming With Men,” said HanWay managing director Gabrielle Stewart referring to the director’s 2011 picture.
The production is due to start shooting in London in Spring 2017.
Stewart le Maréchal and Anna Mohr-Pietsch of Met Film are lead producing alongside Maggie Monteith of Dignity Film Finance.

Warning: Don't keep reading if you want to remain spoiler-free as to the outcome of the team figure skating event, which enters its third and final day Sunday (Feb. 9). It will be featured in NBC's primetime broadcast this evening, which begins at 7 p.m. Et/Pt.
The first event in the 2014 Winter Olympics team figure skating finals is the men's free skate. The U.S., Canada and Japan all chose to have a different man skate in the long program than who competed earlier in the short program.
For the U.S., Jason Brown was subbed in for Jeremy Abbott. Brown, in his Olympics debut, put forth a solid performance but did fall on one of his jumps. With Canada finishing in second place for the men, it mathematically eliminated the U.S. for the silver medal.
The final men's results:
Russia, Yevgeny Plushenko, 168.20
Canada, Kevin Reynolds, 167.92
Japan, Taksuti Machida,...

Warning: Don't keep reading if you would like to remain spoiler-free for the team figure skating opening competition, the ice dancing and women's short programs portion. They will be featured in primetime Saturday (Feb. 8) on NBC.
The U.S. had some ground to make up after the men's and pairs short programs in the team figure skating competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Both of those programs had some mistakes and after Thursday's competitions, Team USA was in seventh place. Only the Top 5 teams advance after the short program portion is concluded, so the U.S. needs big skates from ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White and women's singles skater Ashley Wagner.
Davis and White did their part. They skated a beautiful program that was incredibly synchronized, which is something the judges look for. Their top score catapulted the U.S. into third place in the team standings.

Disgraced chef Paula Deen has committed a far worse crime than using the N-word: she's committed Murder ... of sorts ... according to Kid 'n Play rapper Chris Reed. Chris is surprisingly forgiving of Paula's blunder -- he explains why (although, our guess is he hasn't seen This Gem yet). But what Chris can't forgive ... what he calls her "greatest crime" ... is the very thing she's famous for. Think fried Twinkies. On second thought, just think of butter ... lots of butter.

Ice dancing got underway Friday night in Vancouver with the U.S. hoping one of its two top teams will end the Russian domination of the sport and bring America its first gold medal in the discipline. If you tuned in for the compulsory dance — in which each couple skated the same Tango Romantica so they could be judged on technique head-to-head — you may have thought you were watching a costume contest (the quality of skating seemed so similar) until you caught a glimpse of Russia's reigning world champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (pictured, left). They had the fire...

Dressing for Fashion Week is never easy (it’s not just the models who get scrutinized for style), but it’s especially harrowing when you know you may be trotting your best footwear through snow, slush, or salt on your way to the tents. To see how New York’s most fashionable responded to its recent snowfalls, we stationed ourselves by the slippery steps of Bryant Park’s main entrance. There we found that even the most adventurous dressers among the editors, celebrities, assistants, and bloggers decided not to sacrifice their necks or their most prized pairs to the elements—even if they were only hopping out of a town car at 41st and 6th to immediately skitter into a tent—and most of them wore bulky, dark-colored, and (relatively) conservative boots. Herewith, a few pairs we peeped. We spotted Romney Leader, of Style.com, tromping around in these Burberry boots,...
