The director of Candyman (1992), Bernard Rose, returns to horror with SX_Tape, aka Sxtape. This found footage styled feature involves terror in an abandoned hospital. Ciatlyn Folley and Julie Marcus star in this indie film, which will debut on home video formats July 15th, 2014. A preview for the release is here. Sex games turn to horror when one couple finds hauntings in and old building. Here, a possible artshow turns terribly wrong when Jill (Folley) finds herself tormented by an ancient evil. Now, the sex games are on hold and this artshow will be displayed in blood. Early reviews for SX_Tape have not been kind. Most critics have mentioned the film's use of cliches. But, some indie horror fans might find something of value here. A trailer and list of special features for the release are hosted below. Release Date: July 15th, 2014 (DVD, Blu-ray). Director: Bernard Rose. Writer: Eric Reese.

There’s no reason or logic in this found-footage yawner, and nothing rises to the level of even adolescent notions of sexy-scary. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

Ever been forced to watch the video vomit of someone who’s been fooling around with his camcorder in what he thinks is a clever and original way? But it’s really just disjointed garbage? With some oops-he-“forgot”-it-was-there “naughty” sexytime he taped with his girlfriend? Yup, that’s what watching Sx_Tape feels like. Artist Jill (Caitlyn Folley: Happy Endings) is scouting out an abandoned Los Angeles hospital with her boyfriend, Adam (Ian Duncan: The Mists of Avalon) — though he’s mostly behind the camera of this found-footage yawner, so we barely see him — as a potential venue for a showing of her work. Most family vacations... well... they suck. The odds of everyone being completely happy with a chosen destination or idea is pretty slim. That being said, a little death and terror can go a long way in terms of livening things up.
Variety reports that Paramount has decided to go on a Family Vacation, buying Eric Reese's thriller spec script and setting it up with Daniel Dubiecki's Allegiance Theater to produce through the Paramount Insurge label.
The logline is under wraps other than the story centering on a family going on vacation. Not exactly sure how Dread-worthy this will end up, but we'll keep an eye on things. If it's warranted, look for more soon!

Paramount Pictures created Insurge Pictures for exactly one reason: to produce ultra-small films like Paranormal Activity that can make their budget back from midnight screenings alone. Hell, when the announcement it was said they had 10 projects in development with budgets of only $100,000. The first picture to be released by the studio arm was The Devil Inside earlier this year - which not only earned scorn from critics but audiences as well - and now Insurge has made a move towards another project. Deadline says that the banner has acquired the rights to the script Family Vacation. The thriller was written by Eric Reese, but unfortunately there isn't any other information about the project available at this time. Given the studio it's likely that the movie will be a found footage project, as that's currently the easiest shortcut in Hollywood to excuse a cheap-looking film. According to his IMDb profile Reese...

Paul Solet's Grace made more than a few ripples during (and well after) its debut at Sundance 2009 (here's my review at FEARnet), but besides that stupdily hilarious Jack Chop short, we haven't heard anything on the guy's next gig. Well now we have. Courtesy of a press release I got myself and therefore don't have to credit another website, the hardcore Bostonian horror freak will soon be directing a flick called The Faces for FilmNation Entertainment. All we know so far is that first-timer Eric Reese wrote the screenplay and that the basic log-line goes a little like this: "A year after narrowly escaping a brutal kidnapping, a pair of newlyweds find themselves plagued by a horrifying series of events. They soon discover the existence of an elite...

There's no kind way to say it: the trailer for the new "Hellraiser" movie sucks. In fact, it's so terrible that it makes some of the awful sequels to Clive Barker's 1987 film – which is based off of his fantastic little novella, "The Hellbound Heart"— look like Masterpiece Theatre. Barker took to Twitter to blast the trailer, announcing, "I want to put on record that the...

Paul Solet released a truly unique film in Grace back in 2009. It was a hit at Sundance and even made grown men faint in the audience. I was late to the bandwagon as I bought the film on Blu-Ray previously viewed when a local Blockbuster shut down, but I loved it. It is a great psychological horror film that handles the content maturely and with well executed craft. There was no doubt in my mind that we, as a horror community, would hear from Solet again. I just didn’t know it would be Jack Chop – the hilarious short Halloween short film that Adam Green put out. All kidding aside, Solet has just been signed on to direct a new horror project. Find out the details after the break.

FilmNation Entertainment is looking to “The Faces,” tapping Paul Solet (“Grace”) to direct the horror thriller from Eric Reese’s spec script.

Deadline reports that Paul Solet is set to direct the thriller, 'The Faces' for FilmNation. Solet is not a big-name yet, but he made a mark -- on a certain area -- with his 2009 horror, 'Grace.' The film starred Jordan Ladd as a mother-to-be who experiences a traumatic accident which in turn causes her unborn child to die inside of her. She decides to carry the child to full term nonetheless, and miraculously, the child comes back from the dead -- a little off, though. Rather than having a thirst for milk, the child, Grace desires another fluid from the human body: blood.Solet also wrote the screenplay for 'Grace.' When it comes to 'The Faces,' the script comes from Eric Reese. It's said to be about newlyweds who discover a secret, elitist society which uses terror as a form of entertainment. FilmNation is producing.
