“Our approach was embrace and expand,” reveals production designer Jim Clay about the designing the world of HBO’s epic “House of the Dragon.” For our recent webchat he adds, “There’s a huge fan base there and there would be an expectation from that fun base to continue the feel and be familiar with the world. We wanted to recreate that familiarity and then expand it into our own extended world. We had leeway as ‘House of the Dragon’ is two centuries before ‘Game of Thrones,’ so there’s a little bit of flexibility there. But we wanted the audience to feel they were in the same show, whilst establishing our own show.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

When the dust settled on the 2023 Emmy nominations, HBO and Max came out on top with a whopping 127 bids. Eight of those are for “House of the Dragon,” the “Game of Thrones” prequel series that set the water cooler on dragonfire with its breathtaking production values, unexpected twists and mind-blowing time jumps. Even though “HotD” was skunked in the acting, writing and directing races, it still scored a Best Drama Series citation and received key notices for its crafts. Read on for a closer look at “House of the Dragon’s” eight nominations.
In the main series race, “HotD” competes against three fellow HBO dramas that each nabbed more than 20 nominations: “Succession” (27), “The Last of Us” (24) and “The White Lotus” (23). Then there’s Disney+’s “Andor” (8), AMC’s “Better Call Saul” (7), Netflix’s “The Crown” (6) and Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” (3). HBO’s domination in this category is impressive when you consider...

Grandeur often rules the day in Best Production Design, which awards the men and women responsible for a movie's set design and construction. The category typically favors period pieces, though at least one fantasy title tends to find a home every year. It is rare for truly contemporary films to be nominated. However, the category is more open to fantasy and contemporary pieces than its cousin Best Costume Design. (Last year was the first year the costume designers had their own branch, but no easily discernible new trends could be observed in my opinion.) Recent years have also suggested openness to CGI-complemented work ("Life of Pi" and "Gravity" immediately jump to mind). On that note, it's worth mentioning that the Art Directors Guild has implemented a new rule somewhat under the radar for its precursor awards this season. Gpy&R Melbourne has launched a new campaign for Heinz Beanz.
The campaign, which carries the tagline ‘Bust out the Beanz’, is a call for Australians to rediscover the famous food that is often left in the cupboard.
The TV ad is voiced by comedian Kim Gyngell, known for his work on Full Frontal and The Librarians.
Tom Ward, head of strategy and insights at Gpy&R, said: “We didn’t need to convince people to buy baked beans, or even Heinz Beanz. Every day Heinz Beanz move off the supermarket shelf, into the trolly and into the cupboard. The problem is that all too often that is where they stay, to the point that people will sometimes end up with two or three cans tucked away.”
The campaign breaks on Sunday, and runs until the end of the year.

The Steps singer was married to dancer Mark Webb at the time, she explained in her autobiography All of Me, currently being serialised in The Sun. She had been told that the former Another Level singer had a crush on her by her bandmate Lee Latchford-Evans, and spent the night together in a hotel room after a wedding. "Years before he'd told Lee that he fancied me, but nothing came of it because he was dating Katie Price," she wrote. "At the end of the night I got a cab back to the hotel with Dane, and we both said goodnight and went our separate ways. "When I got back to my room I wasn't ready for the night to end, so I decided to knock on Dane's door and ask him if he could help me undo my dress!

Claire Richards has revealed more details about her weight issues during her time in Steps. The singer recalls her battle with anorexia and weight dysmorphia in her new autobiography All of Me, which is being serialised in The Sun. Richards wrote that when she first joined the pop group in the mid-1990s along with Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford-Evans and Ian 'H' Watkins, she was told to lose weight despite only being a size 10. "Before I got into the band I was made to promise I would lose weight. I was ten stone at the time - not big, especially as I'm 5ft 6in. It was the first time I was conscious that perhaps I was bigger than the other girls but I didn't dwell on it. "I had no idea those comments about my weight would come to haunt me during my time in Steps. Soon after we got signed,...

Droga5 has released a commercial for Unilever toilet cleaning brand Domestos.
The ad, which first aired around Australia’s Got Talent on Wednesday night, was put on YouTube, and has amassed more than 180,000 views. It features Phill Pace, a contender for the Mr Australia bodybuilder title.
Caroline Gregory, brand manager at Unilever, said: “Domestos is known for being a hospital grade disinfectant, so for the launch of Domestos toilet cleaner we wanted to start the campaign with something that would disrupt and truly engage consumers, with something a bit different for the category”.
David Nobay, Droga5 Creative Chairman added: “The Domestos team wanted to approach this category differently, and that’s what we’ve done. It’s our first real content work for Unilever, and I’m impressed with the courage the client has shown us.”

Claire Richards has revealed that she is proud to be a size 16. The 34-year-old Steps singer, who was recently accused of being too large to keep up with her bandmates during dance routines for their comeback shows, said that she refuses to be "brainwashed" again into thinking that skinny is healthy. Richards told The Sun: "I have spent so many years starving myself to be skinny. You can damage yourself by doing that - and I probably have in some ways. I think it's really sad that there is so much emphasis on a woman's size, certainly in the music industry. "You are brainwashed into thinking you can't wear nice clothes because you are a little bigger and you have to wear baggy stuff to hide whatever's going on underneath - and it's rubbish. I'm a size 14 to 16 and I have a waist, I have boobs and I have a bum.

Steps have said that they believe there is a gap in the market for their brand of "happy pop". The 'Deeper Shade of Blue' group have reunited for a Sky Living series, which will see them attempt to put their acrimonious split behind them and decide if they want to work on new material. Speaking about their chances of chart success again, the fivesome were confident that there is still room for them. "There hasn't been anything like us for a long time, but pop is still out there," Claire Richards said. "Nobody really realises it's been ten years since we split up, which is good, because it means people haven't forgotten us and our music hasn't dated." Ian 'H' Watkins agreed: "There's definitely a place for pop, it's just a question of whether we can fit into the jigsaw. I wouldn't want (more)...

Steps singer Claire Richards has insisted that more people enjoy the band's music than the general public realise. The 'Tragedy' star claimed that when the group toured back in the '90s, there was a wide range of people present at their shows. Responding to a question from the Metro that their core fanbase was pre-teens and gay men, Richards explained: "That's what everyone thought but there was a bigger range than you'd expect at our gigs. "I'm not saying we had rugby players coming to see us but it was across the board - families, grandparents, hen parties. There are lots of closet Steps fans out there." Steps singer Claire Richards has insisted that nobody wanted to work with her because she was overweight. The 'Tragedy' star admitted that a fluctuation in her body weight throughout her career had fuelled her insecurities of being in the spotlight. Richards told The Sun: "When I was that big [in 2007] nobody would have worked with me. I'd go to meetings and never hear from people again because you are not like they remember you. "They'd use the phrase, 'She has let herself go'. It was crushing." The singer revealed that she suffered from a mild eating disorder during her time in Steps as she used to compare herself to the other female band members. Richards explained: "I had a really small waist but I didn't (more)...
