Anchor Bay is releasing The Amazing Adventures Of The Living Corpse on DVD and Blu-Ray this June 18th.
The film premiered at last year’s Comic-Con to much fanfare, and is CG animation zombie fare firmly planted in the realm of horror and fantasy. It’s based on a Dynamite! comic book entitled The Living Corpse Exhumed, by Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson. The film is directed by Justin Paul Ritter.
Here’s the synopsis, courtesy of Styd:
A creature of the underworld, lurking in catacombs and tunnels, the Living Corpse wears his heart on his molding sleeve. He is not a typical hero – he is a zombie. He is not a typical zombie – he has a soul. His mission is to protect the earth from other flesh-eaters – to keep them in their graves and to keep the powers of wickedness from corrupting our world.

Anchor Bay snagged distribution rights to English speaking territories (U.S., Canada, UK, Australia-New Zealand) for the forthcoming animated horror flick, The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse. The film, which debuted just days ago at the San Diego Comic-Con, is a direct adaptation of Dynamite Entertainment Comics’ book of the same title. The feature, which was directed by Justin Ritter took a staggering three years to complete, and differs, quite drastically from the norm. See, in this tale, our hero dons no tights or cape: he’s a zombie! Of course, if you thought that was cool, here’s a little icing on the cake:...

By Saturday night at Comic-Con, most people are just looking for a place to sit down, and we have word on where you can do so...and catch the premiere of The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse, a new animated film based on the comic book from Dynamite Entertainment.
From the Press Release:
The nature of the superhero making its transition from the sublime pages of comic books to the magical screens of cinema is slightly unique this time around. For starters, the title character isn’t your typical caped crusader – he’s a zombie. And he’s not just a typical zombie, either. He’s a contentious, imposing citizen of the walking dead club with an intact memory from when he was alive and a mission to protect the Earth from other brain-sucking flesh-eaters.

Filmmaker Justin Paul Ritter tipped Fango off that Little *Ucker (pictured), the stoner-goblin flick he produced for FX-artist-turned-director Michael Muscal, is set to have its world premiere this evening at 10 p.m. at La’s 1st Annual Severed Head Film Festival. The event will also showcase Ritter’s anthology chiller A Gothic Tale, which plays Friday, October 31 at 2 p.m. (see the full schedule below).
“To finally have A Gothic Tale and Little *Ucker completed and ready to show people is really exciting,” says Ritter, who previously helmed the indie shocker Katiebird*Certifiable Crazy Person. “These movies were both made to satisfy particular hardcore viewer bases, and we really hope we can create avenues for those people to learn about the movies and see for themselves.
“The pair of screenings at Severed Head is especially meaningful,” Ritter says of the fest, programmed by Dylan Reynolds and taking place at 251 South Main Street in downtown La.

Ever-busy genre actor Lee Perkins (Katiebird: Certifiable Crazy Person, Live Evil) jut dropped us a line with some very cool early info on one of his next projects. Perkins is getting ready to transition from the world of physical acting to voice acting for Justin Paul Ritter’s The Living Corpse!
Ritter is the man behind Katiebird, the film that first brought Perkins to our attention, and now he’s branching out by doing The Living Corpse, his first animated feature. The film is based on the comic of the same name, the creation of Ken Haeser and Buz Hasson, and is the story of a somewhat self-aware zombie who takes it up on himself to keep the rest of his undead brethren at bay.
Perkins is doing the voice of Timmons, the Administrator of the East Bend Boarding School, where displaced children find themselves. We’re not sure how...
