“The Exorcist: Believer,” the latest chapter in the series that started in 1973 with William Friedkin’s original classic, is nearly here. And ahead of the movie’s release, we are exclusively debuting a featurette devoted to the movie’s thoughtful approach to spirituality. You can watch it above.
“’The Exorcist’ is universal,” Ellen Burstyn says in the featurette. “Possession happens all over the world.” And one of the things that “The Exorcist: Believer” really does is take in influences and religions from different parts of the globe. “I’ve grown up with a fascination of religions of all sorts,” director David Gordon Green says in the clip. “And this was an opportunity to explore possession through a variety of perspectives.” There’s even a master of divinity from Princeton who served as a kind of spiritual advisor to the movie. They really did take it seriously. And it comes across in the movie.

Fox is moving fast in its efforts to resurrect dormant horror classic The Exorcist. Barely a week has passed since the network ordered a pilot episode of the modern reimagining, and now Fox has appointed director Rupert Wyatt at the helm.
Best known for his work across Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Mark Wahlberg drama The Gambler, Wyatt will take point for a reinvention of William Peter Blatty’s seminal 1971 book, a different spin on an old horror that has been pitched as a “serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession and confronting the face of true evil.”
For Wyatt, it marks a return to TV following a string of stop-starts in the blockbuster space. Not long after opting to pass up tentpole sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the filmmaker also pulled out of The Equalizer and,...

Jackson Pollock spawned a thousand imitators in the art world when he chose to work in denim jeans and a t-shirt. Referred to somewhat derogatorily as ‘Jack the Dripper’ by Time magazine, his paint splattered denim was copied by, among others, Max Ernst and Andy Warhol. Costume design for the film Pollock (2000) by David C. Robinson precisely recreates his most iconic workwear looks.
At the start of the story as a struggling artist, Pollock (Ed Harris) is straightaway established as an outsider against the progressive backdrop of metropolitan New York. Fuelled by an alcoholism that he never recovered from, Pollock was eager to succeed although had yet to find his true artistic voice. His clothes, like his art, were inspired, at least in part during those early years, by Pablo Picasso.
Picasso often painted in casual, lightweight denim. Similarly we see Pollock working in dark rinse jeans with thick selvedge...

Our very first feature of 2010, is an item which we begin at the top of every month. January's Tracking Shot makes up for a lack of production in December - and at the top of the productions that are beginning this month we find George Clooney toplining Alexander Payne's The Descendants for Fox Searchlight. Casting is still underway with this project - and I guess we'll be hearing more from it in the next couple of weeks. - Our very first feature of 2010, is an item which we begin at the top of every month.
