When Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham broke up, she found solace in a Joni Mitchell song. Their split was tumultuous; many of the hits from the Rumours album were a product of their messy relationship dynamics. Nicks said that at the end of her relationship with Buckingham, at a time when she thought her career was on thin ice, she laid on the floor for days and listened to Mitchell’s album Court and Spark. Here’s the song that brought her comfort.

I like crowds. I like big noisy events. State fairs? Love ‘em. Black Friday shopping days? I’m there. Live music with tiny crowded dance floors? Sounds good to me. San Diego Comic Con? Yeah, baby. Ditto The New York Comic Con.
But on the other hand, when I’m thinking about Geek Culture and comic conventions, I find that I also enjoy small comic conventions. There’s a certain charm, an aura of creativity and a sense of community that embraces you in a unique way that you won’t find at NYC’s Javits Center.
I had to cancel out of this past weekend’s WonderCon in Anaheim, California. That was a drag as I was looking forward to being a panelist on Rik Offenberger’s Marketing/PR panel. But I haven’t been on a convention hiatus; lately, I have been busy finding and attending them. For consecutive weekends,...

Talk about closure! It's safe to say Harry Styles got the ultimate last laugh regarding a high school heartbreak last week.
The 21-year-old heartthrob called out a concert-going childhood friend of his, Jack Robinson, during a One Direction performance in Oslo, Norway on Friday.
After demanding cheers from the 1D crowd, Harry pointed out Jack in the audience and introduced him to throngs of screaming fans before revealing Jack had (allegedly) stolen his girlfriend seven years ago.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you—or else Harry Styles will call you out during a concert! That's what happened to his poor friend, Jack Robinson, who was publicly shamed during One Direction's concert in Oslo, Norway. Before the boys jumped into song, Harry decided to tell the audience about the time his school friend stole his girlfriend Lol. Thankfully, he has a sense of humor about the whole thing, but made sure to let his friend suffer in the worst way possible: by having the entire arena quiet down for the call-out! "I'm going to tell you a quick little story before we do the next song. When I was about 14 years old, Jack Robinson stole my girlfriend," Harry said,...

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Series Two
Available to stream at Acorn.TV
The murder mystery procedural is a durable genre that is open to various permutations. A slight tweak (the Detective is blind! He can communicate with his dog! She is a part-time stockbroker!) is all that is really needed to get things rolling, and then, so long as the bodies keep piling up, occasional spice is enough to keep a series running forever.
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is, at its base, just another iteration of this basic template. The twist here is that the show takes place in 1920’s Melbourne, where the idea of a “lady detective” is enough of an oddity to turn a few heads. The series follows Miss Phryne Fisher (Essie Davis), a glamorous socialite, incorrigible flirt, and private detective. Along with her companion Dot (Ashleigh Cummings), will-they-won’t-they love interest Detective Inspector Jack Robinson...

Blackpool ended a run of four straight Championship defeats by coming back at Bloomfield Road to hold Leeds United. Tom Ince canelled out Lee Peltier’s opener, but the ill-discipline of the Seasiders continued as defender Kirk Broadfoot was sent off.
Leeds scored midway through a drab first half when the wingbacks combined. Peltier nodded Danny Pugh’s back across goal and his header looped into the corner. Blackpool threatened most from set pieces with Tom Ince putting in decent deliveries.
Versatile Tangerines defender Broadfoot came closest for the hosts before half time when he turned a near post corner wide. Jason Pearce did the same for Brian McDermott’s Whites after the break.
Jack Robinson lashed over Blackpool ten minutes into the second half and they levelled midway through it thanks to Ince junior. His 20-yarder took a deflection off Leeds centre half Marius Zaliukas, leaving Paddy Kenny bamboozled.

Leeds United have not won at Blackpool since 1967, yet they are three points and five places better off than their hosts on Boxing Day after 21 Championship matches.
Paul Ince’s Seasiders have lost four in a row, dropping out of the playoffs and down to tenth at Christmas. Brian McDermott and the Whites have benefitted from this, putting together an unbeaten run of two wins and two draws which has resulted in them climbing into the top six.
Scotland striker Ross McCormack is in hot form for Leeds after scoring 11 goals in his last eight matches. Blackpool – contending with injuries and suspensions – have by contrast only netted that many times as a team since the end of September.
As this match kicks off after all but one of the Championship encounters on Boxing Day, United will start no lower than eighth.

A five-star second half showing from Derby County saw them come from behind against fellow promotion hopefuls Blackpool and make it five Championship wins in a row.
Steve McClaren now has seven victories in nine matches since returning to the Rams as head coach. County are the form side in their division and sit fourth in the table – sandwiched between East Midlands rivals Leicester City and Nottingham Forest.
Derby outthought, outfought and outclassed Paul Ince’s outfit as Blackpool collapsed into losing their full complement of XI for the second successive game. It was clinical stuff from the hosts at Pride Park as they laid down another big marker.
But don’t take my word for it. McClaren himself agreed after winning three encounters in less than a week:
“I think we’ve learned more from the players in these last six days than the last six weeks.”

In-form Derby County striker Chris Martin hit a second half hat-trick that kept Steve McClaren’s winning run going with victory over nine-man Blackpool.
The Rams fell behind to their Championship promotion rivals early on through Isaiah Osborune, but Martin converted two penalties after the break and scored a third from open play in between.
Craig Bryson and Richard Keogh were also on target as Blackpool saw their poor discipline continue. Neal Bishop and Angel Martinez both had an early bath. McClaren and County have now recorded five straight wins.
Visitors Blackpool went ahead inside three minutes as Osbourne nodded in Tom Ince’s free kick with a flicked header into the far corner. Derby left back Craig Forsyth had fouled Steve Davies.

Derby County host fellow promotion chasers Blackpool in Saturday’s lunchtime offering from the Championship with the two teams locked together on 31 points.
Rams head coach Steve McClaren has won six of the eight games – and four in a row – since he succeeded Nigel Clough in the Pride Park dugout.
That fine form was recognized when on loan fullback Andre Wisdom received a nomination for the SkyBet player of the month for November, but missed out on the award to Leeds United striker Ross McCormack.
Seasiders boss Paul Ince meanwhile will have to make changes as three players picked up suspensions in their last outing.
Derby have won their last two home meetings with Blackpool, but Seasiders star man and manager’s son Tom Ince has scored for the visitors on both those occasions.

You.re reading the words of one of the most displaced Green Bay Packers fans on Earth. As a South Louisiana boy, I am a New Orleans Saints fan to the bone, but the young football fan in me took to the Pack for being the first team to conquer the world of official professional football championships, and they couldn.t have done it without their legendary head coach Vince Lombardi. Less than a year after turning Jack Robinson.s story into big money with 42, Lionsgate is getting set to turn Lombardi.s life into a feature film, and they.re throwing a Hail Mary hoping writer/director J.C. Chandor turns it into a touchdown. Chandor most recently blew audiences away with the adventure drama All is Lost, in which a lone Robert Redford faced major danger on high waters. The Fa Cup defeat to Oldham was not the only problem that came to pass this weekend for Liverpool Fc. Besides joining the long list of fourth round upsets, Liverpool have become terrifyingly aware of how desperately they need defensive depth.
Liverpool lined up with Brad Jones in goal, Andre Wisdom at right back, Sebastián Coates and Martin Skrtel in the centre, and Jack Robinson at left back. This back 5 does not send waves of confidence through the bodies of Liverpool fans. Many may argue that despite the loss, it was only Oldham, so there was no need for a better lineup, but what will be worrying for Liverpool fans is that this was essentially Liverpool’s second string, with one usual starter in Martin Skrtel.
Rodgers’ team have been put in this position through a combination of injury and lack of squad depth. The ideal starting back 5 of Reina,...

Matt Smith scored twice as a Dogged Oldham Athletic shocked seven times Fa Cup winners Liverpool at Boundary park.
Oldham started the game with the kind of passion and industry that their manager, Paul Dickov was known for in his playing days and took the lead after just 2 minutes. Some slack defending from Liverpool allowed Youssouf M’Changama to cross for Matt Smith, whose header deflected into the net off Martin Skrtel. Liverpool looked shell-shocked and unable to cope with the physical nature of Oldham’s game, as the League One strugglers continued to dictate the tempo of the game.
Despite their early dominance, there was still a feeling that it was only a matter of time until Liverpool began to create; Sure enough after 17 minutes, Luis Suarez picked up the ball in his own half, ran the length of the Oldham half unchallenged and, after the ball ran back...

A repeat of last season’s Third round tie sees an out of form Oldham Athletic welcome Brendan Rodgers’ improving Liverpool to Boundary Park. The game last year finished 5-1 to the premier league team and, although nothing is ever certain in football, it will be a huge shock if the Reds do not win again on Sunday.
Oldham are without a win in their last 8 League One games and currently sit just 4 points above the relegation zone, however they did pull off something of a giant killing in the previous round when they defeated Championship Nottingham Forest 3-2 at the City Ground. Robbie Simpson scored two for the Latics that day and his efforts, along with those of Former Liverpool Youngster Dean Bouzanis and Ex- Everton striker Jose Baxter, will be crucial if they are to get anything from this game.

For the first half of the 2011-12 season, Jose Enrique was a near-faultless bull. In deal worth approximately £7 million, it seemed we’d craftily signed a player who could occupy our left back position for years to come – nothing to worry about, José’s got it covered. But as things wore on, his performances began to experience a dip in quality. Mistakes crept into his game, and an over-reliance on his left foot (and a sometimes dangerous desire to play his way out of tight spaces) became apparent. He looked tired. Perhaps this was down to the stresses of Liverpool’s inability to score when on top, which no doubt heaped pressure on the defensive line not to break whilst the forwards took ten hours to put the ball in the net. Either way, at times when we may well have given him a rest he continued to play because,...

Spotted a UFO? There's a strong chance the men in black will come knocking too – these dark-suited men have long had a grip on the human psyche …
To most, the premise on which the Men in Black films are based may seem pleasingly fanciful; but not to all. Quite a lot of people believe that dark-suited gents are indeed policing contact between aliens and humans. Concern about this activity goes back a long way. The first of the films, which appeared in 1997, was based on a relatively obscure black-and-white comic-book . This had been launched in 1990, but even by then, speculation about a corps of black-clothed figures supposedly managing our relationship with extraterrestrials was already decades old.
In 1953, Albert K Bender, the editor of a UFO publication called Space Review, announced that he'd found the solution to the flying saucer mystery but had been forbidden to print it. He warned others...

Liverpool play hosts to newly promoted Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, as both teams look to continue on good runs of form.
Kenny Dalglish’s men were unlucky not to have taken all three points from Manchester United last Sunday in the 1-1 draw at Anfield. Having picked up three wins on the bounce in all competitions, there were plenty of positives to take away from a draw against the current champions. The Reds continue to look more threatening and are starting to pose a realistic threat to challenge for a top four position as their new-look team begin to gel together.
The home side’s opponents on Saturday will be no pushover. Norwich, who finished second in the Championship last season, are currently only three points behind Liverpool in the Premier League and Paul Lambert will be hoping his team can cause an upset at Anfield. Harry's Law, which according to the website apparently now has the tagline, "Go ahead. Make her case," premiered Monday on NBC, and it's been tough trying to follow the ratings banter that has followed. Did it make a strong showing as far as the ratings are concerned? It seems to depend on who you ask at any given moment. The numbers themselves aren't in dispute, but there is some disagreement as to what they mean.
Whether the ratings are "good" (because it's a January premiere, etc.), or "bad" (because it has Kathy Bates and David E. Kelley for crying out loud, etc.), doesn't mean a lot to me, though I find the argument interesting. The new legal dramedy, which also features Kathy Bates holding up a .44 Magnum on the website, after the big "reveal" of the pilot episode, ought to be the most discussed new show in years, because it is incomprehensibly,...
