[This story contains spoilers for Barry season four, episode four, “It Takes a Psycho.”]
For Sally Reed, it’s all or nothing.
Now that the first half of Barry’s final season is in the books, Sarah Goldberg is looking back on the events that led to Sally’s shocking decision to go on the run with Barry, who’s now a fugitive and prison escapee. On the heels of her abusive viral video and the world now knowing that she dated a contract killer, Sally’s acting dreams have flatlined. So, rather than having a showbiz-adjacent career as an acting coach, or as the host and star of a podcast and reality show that exploit the true crime she was peripheral to, Sally chose Barry and the pedestal he would still put her on, sans judgment. Right now, anything is better than standing on the sidelines of Hollywood as a spectator.
“Barry is the one place she can go where she’s going to feel seen,...

This article contains massive spoilers for the latest episode of "Barry."
When Bill Hader and Alec Berg's HBO series "Barry" was first announced back in 2018, the show's identity was pitched somewhere between dark comedy and dramedy. Speaking to Vulture on the eve of the first season's release, Hader explained how he and Berg landed on placing their hitman protagonist inside a Los Angeles acting class because "we were struck by how much it felt like group therapy. We decided, 'Okay, Barry can realize things about himself through theater.'"
That's a more insightful observation than the average layman might realize — for anyone who's taken an acting class a little more advanced than high school level, these classes often resemble a bizarre sort of group therapy session more than anything else. Where one might expect to see discussions of scenes, characters, and craft, such classes have an unsettling tendency to...

The following contains spoilers for "Barry."
Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) had a rough go of it in "Barry" season 3. She had a brief moment on the top of the world in the fourth episode, "all the sauces," when her semi-autobiographical streaming series "Joplin" (named after her Missouri hometown) premiered to rave reviews. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to save the series from cancelation by streaming service BanShe's almighty algorithm.
Over the season's second half, a distraught Sally blew up at her assistant Natalie (D'Arcy Carden), was dropped by her agent Lindsay (Jessy Hodges), and then murdered a home invader (Anthony Molinari) in self-defense. So, she decided to leave Los Angeles entirely and go back home.
When we catch up with Sally in the season 4 premiere, "yikes," she's asleep on the flight to Joplin. So, she missed the news of Barry's arrest. When she wakes up, she checks her phone and finds...

Fame is a funny thing. Of course, on the HBO series "Barry," fame is a terrifyingly dangerous thing. "Barry" begins its fourth and final season with a two-episode premiere, exploring the darkest possible version of what fame can bring. The hitman-turned-wannabe actor is only ever a halfway-decent actor when he's channeling the immense rage that fuels him, and he's constantly lured back into the hitman lifestyle. But it took three seasons for that lifestyle to catch up with him in tangible ways. Last season wrapped with a shocker, in which Barry was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department thanks to a sting operation led by Jim Moss (Robert Wisdom), the intense father of the late Detective Janice Moss (Paula Newsome), who Barry killed at the end of the first season. Jim only got his man thanks to Barry's surrogate father figure and acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler...

Another TV show is shuffling off this mortal coil to the great beyond. Freeform has cancelled its Beyond TV show after two seasons. Since there will be no season three, the March 22nd season two finale, "There's No Home for You Here," will have to suffice as the unintentional Beyond TV series finale. A Freeform sci-fi drama, Beyond stars Burkely Duffield, Romy Rosemont, Michael McGrady, Jonathan Whitesell, Dilan Gwyn, Jeff Pierre, and Eden Brolin. The mystery centers on Holden Matthews (Duffield), who woke after a dozen years in a coma to find himself in the midst of a conspiracy -- in a changed world. Read More…...

“Beyond” has been canceled at Freeform after two seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The one-hour drama follows a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. The series starred Burkely Duffield, Dilan Gwyn, Jordan Calloway, Jonathan Whitesell, Michael McGrady, Romy Rosemont, Jeff Pierre, and Eden Brolin.
The series hailed from Imperative Entertainment and Automatik. It was created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf. Tim Kring, Zak Kadison, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones served as executive producers.
The Season 2 finale of “Beyond” aired last week. The series struggled in the Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings during its second season, with a per episode average of just a 0.08 rating in adults 18-49 and 244,000 viewers per episode. That represents a drop off of nearly 50% in the key demo and over 50% in total viewers compared to the show’s first season.

When the Beyond TV show kicked off last year, Freeform released the whole season of 10 episodes online, after just two had aired on the cable network. Perhaps that's why it wasn't cancelled, despite ratings that have spelled the end for other TV series -- including those on Freeform. Can the Y.A. drama build up its linear audience in the second season? Does it need to, or has Freeform's target audience largely forsaken cable for streaming? Will Beyond be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. If you’ve seen Glee, you will know Romy Rosemont as Carole Hudson – the mother of Finn, step-mother to Kurt, and wife to Burt. This role, which she first took in 2010, was her big break and what brought her into the public eye. She has also acted on Grey’s Anatomy, CSI, and Prison Break (among other shows). One of her more recent roles is as Diane Matthews in Freeform’s Beyond. If you want to catch this actress in her element, you should check out the new season of the show that was released on January 18th of this year.
