Mxyzptlk is headed back to Supergirl — but there’s a twist: Thomas Lennon (The Odd Couple, Reno 911!) will now play the reality-bending trickster nicknamed Mxy, who was previously portrayed by Peter Gadiot (Once Upon a Time in Wonderland), our sister site Deadline reports.
Gadiot’s Mxy came to National City from the Fifth Dimension in a two-episode Season 2 storyline, during which he unsuccessfully attempted to romance Kara Danvers. The character’s ability to shapeshift will play into his new appearance in the back half of Season 5.

Under the pact, Rovner will continue to work on Supergirl alongside fellow exec producer/showrunner Jessica Queller, as well as create new series for broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. Supergirl, which stars Melissa Benoist, has been renewed by the CW for next season, its fifth.
Rovner joined Supergirl midway through the first season as a consulting producer, and was elevated to executive producer at the beginning of season 2.
He and Queller were elevated to co-showrunners alongside Supergirl co-creator Andrew Kreisberg in June 2017 and took full reins of the series several months later when Kreisberg was suspended and subsequently removed from his CW/Wbtv series over misconduct allegations.

Now this is more like it. Three weeks after offering fans a decidedly casual glimpse of newly-minted Lois Lane Elizabeth Tulloch alongside returning Man of Steel Tyler Hoechlin, The CW has released a far more formal portrait of the iconic pair, with the Fortress of Solitude as a backdrop.
As previously reported, Superman and Lois will unite in this year’s three-night, “Elseworlds”-themed Arrowverse crossover event, which will air Sunday, Dec. 9 through Tuesday, Dec. 11, comprised of the ninth episodes of The Flash (airing on a special night), Arrow and Supergirl (airing on a special night).

The CW is bringing in a familiar foe in season four.

Hollywood’s sexual harassment scandals have had an immediate effect on the industry — and on TV viewers as well. As networks and studios are confronted with allegations of misconduct and assault by their stars, producers, and even executives, heightened publicity has also prevented them from sweeping such news under the rug.
Instead, from morning to primetime, broadcast, cable and streaming services have been faced with making big moves on some of their biggest properties. In the $1 billion morning show competition, both NBC’s “Today” and CBS’ “This Morning” fired key anchors. Netflix’s and Amazon’s signature, award-winning dramas are expected to return without their lead stars. Paramount Network planned to launch by leveraging the Weinstein brand — but that strategy is dead. And FX must now rebuild its comedy brand without the producer who inspired much of it.

Earlier this month came the shocking news that Arrowverse exec producer Andrew Kreisberg had been suspended after 19 women and men had come forward to accuse him of sexual harassment. It was noted at the time that a full investigation would be launched to ascertain the veracity of the claims with a final decision to be made on Kreisberg’s future with these shows once it was complete.
Now, that investigation is done and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. has made the call to remove Kreisberg from his role as showrunner for The Flash and Supergirl with immediate effect. The studio released an official statement on the matter, which also clarified how the shows would move forward:
“After a thorough investigation, Warner Bros. Television Group has terminated Andrew Kreisberg’s employment, effective immediately. Greg Berlanti will assume additional responsibilities on both “The Flash,” where he will work closely...

Before the month is out, we’ll be treated to the latest four-part Arrowverse crossover. Last year’s team-up between the heroes of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow was one of the biggest highlights of the shared universe so far, and brought in some huge ratings for The CW.
Story-wise, it featured an alien race called the Dominators invading the Earth. How will this year go bigger, then? Well, instead of aliens, the Arrowverse heroes will face their own evil Nazi doppelgangers from another world.
The synopses for the four episodes that make up the crossover, titled “Crisis on Earth-x,” have now been revealed. In an effort to keep spoilers for how the plot progresses under wraps, the text remains basically the same for all four synopses, but it still does give us a full list of the characters who’ll be involved in each episode.

Even though it takes place in a dimension separate from where most characters in the Arrowverse live, Supergirl has done quite the fine job of expanding its supporting cast and embracing DC’s rich pantheon of heroes. One example of this would have to be that of J’onn J’onzz/the Martian Manhunter, who actually happens to be my favorite character on the show.
To date, he’s played a critical role, being both the director of the D.E.O. and a mentor to Kara Zor-El. And thankfully, the creative minds behind the series have yet to hold back when it comes to exploring his Martian origins. In fact, we’ve seen the tragic loss of his family, unwelcome visits from White Martians, and he’s also found a love interest of sorts in M’gann M’orzz.

With the next “super season” set to commence in just under three weeks, it’s only understandable that The CW pulls out all the stops in order to assure that viewers come back for another helping. And usually when we’re that close to any specific episode airing, synopses are bound to surface online, effectively bringing some minor spoilers along with them. In this case, that rule applies to fan favorites Supergirl and The Flash.

*Potential Spoilers For Season 3 Of Supergirl*
While DC continues to struggle on the big screen, they appear to have figured out the formula for their properties on the small screen. After its first season, Supergirl moved from its original home on CBS, to the CW network for its sophomore season. This move seemed natural seeing as how the network already hosts a few other shows featuring DC comics characters including, Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
At the end of Supergirl’s second season, the character Mon-El, was forced to leave earth after the atmosphere was intentionally filled with lead by Supergirl, which is toxic to his race of beings. Upon leaving Earth, Mon-El’s ship was swallowed up by a wormhole, and fans were left wondering where he went and if the prince of Daxam would return. Last year saw the biggest crossover between the Arrowverse shows yet, as one week’s worth of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow formed a movie-length alien invasion story. On last night’s episode of Supergirl, “Resist,” Rhea’s endgame finally started to come to fruition as the survivors of Daxam’s destruction launched a full-scale attack on Earth-38. For the most part, the Girl of Steel and some of her closest allies – Cadmus included – did a fine job of holding their ground, but an unexpected appearance by none other than Superman may throw a wrench into their plans.
We’ve known that Big Blue was set to return in the season finale for some time now, but his cameo at the end of the penultimate episode likely came as a shock to many, doubly so because he’s aligned himself with Rhea. This development will spill over into next week as the trailer at the top so kindly displays, but we’re guessing that Kal-El is under some sort of mind control.

Although Supergirl will most certainly have her hands full over the course of this season’s remaining three episodes having to deal with the likes of Rhea and General Zod, James Olsen is set to get some needed exposure tonight in “City of Lost Children.”
You see, with Calista Flockhart no longer being a series regular, CatCo hasn’t enjoyed the prominence it had during the first season as of late. Sure, we do see it here and there, but you have to admit that much more time has been spent over at the Deo and, as such, James has needed something to keep him occupied even though he’s been put in charge of the media empire. Thus, having him take to the streets as Guardian has filled that void.
Still, he comes and goes, more so feeling like he’s embarking on his own quest as opposed to...

Now that Kara has successfully made sure that her adoptive sister, Alex, remains among the living for the foreseeable future, she’s once again ready to embark on adventures that are a little more science fiction in nature. And should next week’s episode of Supergirl, “City of Lost Children,” live up to its trailer, we’ll get just that.
With only three episodes remaining this season, it looks as though Rhea is beginning the first phases of whatever her endgame may be. Whether General Zod factors into her plans remains to be seen, as we all know that Kryptonians and Daxamites aren’t exactly on the best of terms, but we could very well be looking at an “enemy of my enemy” scenario.
While it remains unclear as to what Mon-El’s mother has on her agenda, the trailer above gives me the impression that it has something to...

Earlier today, The CW released episode descriptions for instalments of Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl which air the week beginning May 8th. With just a handful of chapters left in each series before they wrap up for the year, big things are on the way for our beloved heroes, something which is evident from each of the synopses below.
For starters, we have Supergirl. In “City of Lost Children,” James Olsen’s Guardians will take centre stage as he steps up to help save National City alongside Kara.

With a new episode of Supergirl being just hours away, we’ve rounded up a few videos for your viewing pleasure, so hopefully they’re able to tide you over. Now, it’s no secret that Dean Cain will be making his anticipated return to the series tonight as he’ll be reprising his role of Jeremiah Danvers, Kara’s adoptive father. And, in our first clip to present, he begins to reacquaint himself with his family, in addition to meeting Maggie, Alex’s new girlfriend.
If you were looking for something more action packed and less domestic and heartwarming, this second preview clip may be more to your liking. In it, the Girl of Steel teams up with the Martian Manhunter to take down a fleet of vehicles driven by parties unknown. With mere hours to go until a brand new episode of Supergirl is set to air, the network has put out a teaser clip showing the Maiden of Might confronted by returning foes in Metallo and Lillian Luthor.
Now, we’ve known for a little bit that the Luthor matriarch would be putting in another appearance and that the Cadmus threat isn’t totally behind us, but given the recent knowledge that Lena is behind bars for some reason, it looks as though this footage takes place after some kind of jailhouse switcheroo.
Personally, I’m interested to see if the Cadmus arc will be wrapped up in this episode or sometime soon because a larger threat is seemingly looming involving that mysterious alien race that has been popping up lately. And, from what we can gather, it will have everything to do with the recently cast Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo,...

In the promo for the next episode of Supergirl, it was heavily teased that Lex Luthor would finally be making an appearance in The CW series. Unfortunately, we now know that’s not the case as a new batch of images reveal that it’s actually her mother that Lena is visiting. However, with Metallo set to break the Cadmus leader out, Lex may still have some company behind bars.
As you can see, Lena (who’s served as an ally to the Girl of Steel so far) ends up being imprisoned when she’s blamed for that, and while there’s a very good chance she’s innocent, you have to believe this could sour the budding friendship between her and Supergirl.

Although it seems much of Earth-38’s mythology concerning supervillains began with Kara’s emergence as Supergirl, some key components are far behind us, such as Lex Luthor’s heyday. But that only makes sense when you consider that he’s Superman’s archnemesis, not the heroine this series focuses on.
Still, that hasn’t stopped the producers from introducing Lena and Lillian Luthor, Lex’s sister and mother, respectively, on the show. And from what we can tell, it’s the family matriarch whom Lex shares most in common with in this particular universe.

Despite being set in a world where Superman exists, Supergirl has often had to dance around the fact that the Man of Steel is part of this corner of the DC Extended Universe. During season 1, we caught only a glimpse of his arm or foot, and while he appeared in the first two episodes of season 2, Clark Kent’s been nowhere to be seen since.
That’s mostly because Henry Cavill is playing him on the big screen, but could Supergirl be about to introduce an alternate take on Lex Luthor? We know that Jesse Eisenberg will reprise the role in Justice League, but the promo above points to a new version showing up for a confrontation with his sister Lena as he continues rotting behind bars since being put there by Superman.

Whether it’s the introduction of a possibly new Black Canary on Arrow or knowing Kevin Smith will return this spring to direct another episode of Supergirl, there’s much to be excited about.
When it comes to the week Valentine’s Day occupies, it looks like there won’t be as much new material to look forward to. The CW has released the first official images from next week’s episode of Supergirl, and while there’s sadly no sign of Cyborg Superman, they do feature a few other intriguing reveals. For starters, Supergirl and Mon-El have somehow ended up in the clutches of the villainous group known as Cadmus, which isn’t good news.
What they want with the Kryptonian and Daxamite remains to be seen, but it can’t be anything good. Perhaps that’s why James Olsen and Winn are once again conspiring, as it may very well be down to National City’s newest vigilante, Guardian, to help save the two aliens from whatever Cadmus has planned for them.

In the comics, Hank Henshaw is Cyborg Superman, hence why we all thought that's who David Harewood was playing in the Supergirl premiere when his eyes glowed red. Of course, it would later be revealed that he was really Martian Manhunter, but the villain is indeed coming to the series later this year in the show's seventh episode of The CW. Titled "The Darkest Place," here's the synopsis: It’S Supergirl Vs. Cyborg Superman — While Guardian (Mehcad Brooks) tries to clear his name after being accused of a murder committed by another vigilante, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) heads out on a solo mission to rescue Mon-El (Chris Wood) who has been captured by Cadmus. While fighting to free Mon-El, Supergirl comes face to face with Cyborg Superman. Glen Winter directed the episode written by Robert Rovner & Paula Yoo. The CW has released a new clip from Monday’s episode of Supergirl, and in it we get to meet Lucas “Snapper” Carr (Ian Gomez) for the very first time. So too does Kara Danvers, though it appears as if the Girl of Steel’s boss isn’t exactly all that taken with CatCo’s latest trainee reporter.
Kara’s new job in the series will explain why Cat Grant is going to take on a reduced role in Supergirl, though the reality is that Calista Flockhart didn’t want to make the move to Vancouver (because she wouldn’t be as close to her family) now that The CW has picked up the show from CBS. It was previously shot in Los Angeles, though budget cuts obviously changed that.

I think there’s something to be said when even naysayers of your first season are floored by the premiere of your second. Such is the case for Supergirl, which dazzled fans last night with its debut on The CW, a network that is known for its stellar superhero adaptations. Boasting an hour of spectacular action sequences, tons of charm, and the introduction of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, it’s no wonder that social media is buzzing today.
