Mumbai, April 25 (Ians) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was feted with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for his remarkable contributions to the field of cinema, has expressed his gratitude for the honour.
Amitabh took to X (formerly called Twitter) and shared a picture of himself receiving the award from Usha Mangeshkar, sister of the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.
“Aabhaar aur mera param saubhagya,” he wrote in the caption.
Actor Randeep Hooda, actress Padmini Kolhapure, and music composer A.R. Rahman were also seen sharing the stage with Amitabh, who received the honour on the memorial day of Deenanath Mangeshkar, the theatre-music veteran and father of the Mangeshkar siblings.
Rahman was also feted with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for his contributions to the field of music, along with Randeep, Ashok Saraf, and playback singer Roopkumar Rathod.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan shall be conferred the ‘Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar’ at a function scheduled here on April 24, while music maestro A. R. Rahman shall be bestowed the ‘Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award,’ next week, the organisers said.
The award is given by the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratisthan, Pune, nurtured by the eminent Mangeshkar family, and shall be given away to Bachchan on his 82nd death anniversary, along with a musical tribute.
Earlier, the inaugural award was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi (2022), followed by veteran singer Asha Bhosale (2023), for their path-breaking, spectacular and exemplary contributions to the country, its people and society.

Actor-director-producer Sachin Pilgaonkar, who predominantly works in Marathi cinema, has started the shoot of the sequel to his cult comedy ‘Navra Mazha Navsacha’. The film began its shooting in Mumbai.
The original film was released 19 years ago. The sequel marks his 23rd film, and also stars his wife Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Ashok Saraf.
Expressing his excitement, Sachin said in a statement: “The love from the audience for ‘Navra Mazha Navsacha’ is truly heartwarming and after 19 years I am thrilled to present the sequel, featuring an incredible star cast including Ashok Saraf, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and the talented additions of Swapnil Joshi, Hemal Ingle, Nirmiti Sawant and Vaibhav Mangle.”
He further mentioned, “This is my 23rd film as a director and we are overwhelmed with joy after seeing the reaction and love from the audience after this announcement. It’s always fun to collaborate with my wife, Supriya. She is a wonderful partner on and off screen.

Veteran Marathi and Bollywood films, television and theatre actor Ashok Saraf will be conferred with the coveted ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ Award-2023, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said here on Tuesday.
Saraf, 76, has been selected for his substantial contribution to the field of arts. He has straddled from comedy to serious to villainous roles through his acting and won the hearts of the audiences.
Saraf started his acting career in 1969 with the Marathi film ‘Janaka’. Since then, he has worked in over 250 Marathi films, mostly in comic roles, besides acting in more than 50 Bollywood movies and 10 television serials, along with a dozen theatre productions. He has teamed with up actors like Laxmikant Berde and Sachin Pilgaonkar in different films.
Some of the prominent Bollywood films in which Saraf could be seen include ‘Damaad’, ‘Pratighat’, ‘Benaam Badshah’, ‘Aa Gale Lag Ja’, ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Army’, ‘Koyla’, ‘Gupt’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’, ‘Khubsoorat’, ‘Joru Ka Gulam’, ‘Jodi No.

Actor-director Riteish Deshmukh had unveiled the first look poster of his directorial Marathi movie, ‘Ved’. The poster looks intriguing, featuring the lead stars and the superhit duo of actor-actress Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh. Both the stars look intense in the poster speaking volumes of the madness, craze, and passion the movie promises to bring.
Genelia Deshmukh who is making her Marathi acting debut with Ved is also the producer of the movie. The movie even stars Jiya Shankar and Ashok Saraf in significant roles. Furthermore, it is a movie with the popular Ajay and Atul helming the music of the film. The movie is slated to release on the 30th of December, 2022.

Veteran actor Shreeram Lagoo, who worked on stage, Bollywood and Marathi films, passed away at a private hospital here late on Tuesday following age-related health issues, family sources said.
He was 92 and breathed his last at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
