I was 17 years old, got a job as a bookings clerk at the BBC, at Broadcasting House. Walked in through the front doors, massive great Reception, it's all marble, there's a big marble sweeping staircase that disappears around a corner. We were on the first floor, and I went up, as I got just around the corner, I tripped, I fell backwards, my briefcase went before me and everything opened and rolled into Reception and followed by me rolling into Reception to the feet of the Director-General, who said, "Good morning."
