- He founded his own production company and from 1954 he realised several documentaries both as a produce and a director.
- When he met the director Carl Froelich in 1925 they teamed up for many years and they worked together for more than 30 movies. Beside it Franz Schroedter still worked for other directors as well.
- The production designer Franz Schroedter gained a foothold in the film business in 1919 after his education at the "Bau- und Kunstgewerbeschule" in Berlin.

- The 30s offered him again a versatile field of activity and Franz Schroedter created the coulisses of popular movies like "Alraune (1930), "Dreyfus" (1930), "Kohlhiesels Töcher" (30), "Charleys Tante" (1934), "Truxa" (37), "Die Umwege des schönen Karl" (1938) and "Es war eine rauschende Ballnacht" (1939).
- When he became a technical director and was appointed to the management of the Tobis company in 1941 he retired from his activity as a production designer momentarily.
- During World War II he was only involved in few movies, among them "Friedrich Schiller" (40) and "Ohm Krüger" (41).
- From 1920 Franz Schroedter became an independent production designer and he soon became a much demanded art director.
