James Graham’s double-OIivier Award winning play Dear England is hitting TV screens and the prolific creator is thinking about whether any former soccer players could make the cut.
Speaking to Deadline outside last night’s prestigious London theater awards, Graham floated the likes of Match of the Day host Gary Lineker and former England goalkeeper David Seaman as potentials, although no approaches have been made. Watch the full clip below.
“It’s a drama first and foremost so of course we need good actors but [the question of having real soccer players in it is] a good question,” said Graham. “Do we get the real Gary Lineker? Do we get the real David Seaman? It’s a good question as [the show] should have that sense of fun and playfulness as well.”
Earlier this year, Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright featured in Daniel Kaluuya’s Netflix directorial debut The Kitchen, while footballers such as Vinnie Jones and Eric Cantona...

The former professional footballer and manager, who spent his entire playing career at Arsenal, has been bottom of the leaderboard since the new series began.
While he remains at the bottom of the leaderboard with 18 points after Saturday’s episode (8 October), he certainly won the trophy for the most entertaining dance of Movie Week.
During his performance of the songs “You Sexy Thing” and “Hot Stuff” from 1997 film The Full Monty, (which actually references Adams), the contestant proceeded to pull his trousers down to reveal some sparkly red underwear.
He then ripped his shirt off, which earned him a standing ovation from the crowd, including former Arsenal footballer David Seaman.

Obviously, it was only a matter of time before The Apprentice tackled board games. Lord Sugar must have been waiting for ages to wheel out his "from board games to the Boardroom" line. Luckily, while this week didn't quite reach the battiness of last week's coach trips - probably a good thing for Karren Brady's sanity - board games turned out to be not very boring at all.

Pamela Uddin became the tenth candidate to be fired in tonight's episode of The Apprentice.
The 22-year-old was sent packing after she spearheaded a relationship board game which was variously described as "sexist" and "offensive".
Uddin was the project manager for Team Tenacity, who came up with The Relationship Guru - featuring questions penned by Daniel Lassman such as: "Women dislike which food the most - pizza, carrots, or chicken salad?"
The team initially struggled to pitch the product to retailers, who were wary of its "sexist" nature, but team member Mark Wright proved successful in making deals.
The team eventually made sales of £1101.25 - while Team Summit, led by James Hill, chalked up sales of £2080 with Roisin Hogan's geography-themed game GeoKnow.

The mighty moustache has enjoyed a long and auspicious history in top level football, riding the lips of legends like Graeme Sounness, Chris Kamara and Rudi Voller to success, so it’s understandable when other, lesser players decide to add further ornaments to their faces.
Despite the number of moustachioed marvels who changed the shape of football history, there have been far more pretenders who have failed in their attempt to look as distinguished as Mark Lawrenson used to.
Unthinkably some legendary moustaches have fallen by the wayside, cut down in their prime by former players determined to cast off their wild man images – like Lawrenson. How cruel it is that even David Seaman has sent his iconic lip hair to the great barber in the sky.

Are you simply nuts about football? Then you should be mates with micro-artist Quentin Devine.
Devine has painstakingly carved portraits of five England footy greats into Brazil nuts in time for this summer's 2014 World Cup in Rio. Why? Well, just because he can.
The artist went through over 50 nuts, each measuring 1.5 by 2cm, averaging 96 hours.
David Beckham, Gary Lineker, Wayne Rooney, Paul Gascoigne and Alan Shearer are given their own nutty equivalents. Though, Gary may only be interested in the crisp variety.
The nuts have been made to tie in with Dave's show England's Top 19 Footy Heroes, which kicks off its World Cup coverage tomorrow (May 20) at 9pm.

Arsene Wenger reached the tremendous milestone of 1,000 matches in charge of Arsenal this weekend, a tally that has only ever been achieved once before- by Manchester United’s legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. The stats show us that when you compare the two managerial greats, it is Wenger who has the best record during his first 1,000 games. Which in itself is a compliment.
During his 18 year tenure in charge of the North London club he has helped to make some fond memories for both Arsenal fans and football fans worldwide.
There was the double winning sides, taking Arsenal to their first ever Champions League final, toppling Alex Ferguson’s dominant United side and of course the invincible side of 2004 that went the entire Premier League season undefeated, stretching their run to 49 games in total.

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart may be the poster boy for hair treatment company Head & Shoulders, but that’s not to say his Premier League colleagues treat their barnets as well.
Since being formed on 20 February 1992, the Premier League has witnessed some truly strange haircuts and styles that detract from the overall spectacle that is topflight football.
From Gervinho’s curtains to David Seaman’s ponytail-moustache combo, we’ve seen some frightening follicles and bizarre bonnets over the years.
To honour those who fascinated us with their hairstyle choice as much as they did their footballing prowess, here, WhatCulture! takes a look at the 19 Strangest Hairstyles In Premier League History.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman will have many regrets from his career, chief among them his gaffe against Brazil in the 2002 World Cup.

Joe Hart is the most talented English goalkeeper since David Seaman.
There is little debate about that and the anti-dandruff spokesman’s emergence as first choice for Manchester City appeared to have solved the crisis England had between the sticks in the years after Seaman’s retirement.
This season, though, a repeated series of serious errors in big matches has called Hart’s reliability into question.
According to Opta stats, since the start of last season only two goalkeepers in Europe’s top leagues have made more errors that led to goals than Hart. And that’s just in league football.
Last week in the Champions League, Hart’s flapping at Franck Ribery’s shot early in their game against Bayern Munich was the start of an utter demolition from the European champions.
Against Everton on Sunday Hart was well placed to save Romelu Lukaku’s 16th minute shot but...

Arsenal are one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Premier League. Three-time winners of the competition, it has been the home of numerous world class players such as Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Cesc Fabregas. However, whilst these names have lit up first Highbury and now the Emirates Stadium, there have been more than enough that would have appear more suited to the Championship rather than the Champions League. Players whose idea of free-flowing football was to stand to one side while their opponents run circles around them. Instead of a team of Invincibles, this is a collection of the Unconvincables.
Some of these players have moved on from their time at Arsenal and gone on to have decent careers, and sadly a few of these players were playing their best football at the club. The pressure of performing for one of the elite clubs in...

So, here’s a novel idea…
Imagine, if you will, that we could pluck ten players from the entirety of the English Premier League’s history – 5 English, 5 not English – and put them up against each other in the ultimate Premier League 5-a-Side match, all in their prime:
The Best Ever English Premier League 5-a-Side Team
Vs
The Best Ever Rest of the World Premier League 5-a-Side Team
Please note, this involves picking such a small number of players from such a large selection that the idea is to create discussion. I in no way expect people to 100% agree with my selections, because choosing a ‘correct’ selection of players for this topic is nigh on impossible and merely a matter of opinion.
Let’s first take a look at England’s team…
Goalkeeper: David Seaman
No English goalkeeper has performed as well for club and country in the Premiership years as David Seaman.

Much to the surprise of many observers, the largely unknown Frenchman, Arsene Wenger, has transformed the dull, aging Arsenal side over-reliant on staunch defence and Ian Wright’s goals into genuine challengers to Manchester United at football’s top table.
Following the increased confidence of the mercurial Dutchman, Dennis Bergkamp and the immediate impact of the largely unknown Patrick Vieira, Arsenal were expected to challenge for a top four spot this year. Galvanised by the impact of Marc Overmars, the unheralded Emmanuel Petit, and the new kid on the block Nicolas Anelka, the team has a chance of winning its first trophy since the 1994 Cup Winners Cup miracle in Copenhagen.
After a good start, the now traditional November blip kicked in, with Arsenal losing four out of six fixtures in November and early December, and the pre-season predictions of a Uefa Cup spot looked accurate. However, since the last of those,...

Fraser Forster started off his career with his local team Newcastle United. However, he failed to break into the squad there, being kept out of the first-team action by Steve Harper and then Tim Krul. After spending time on loan at several English lower league clubs – including Norwich, who he helped to win League 1 – Forster spent two seasons on loan at Celtic where he quickly established himself as first-choice.
Despite a string of impressive performances during that time Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said that he wasn’t playing at a high-enough level to prove his ability and Forster was allowed to join the Scottish champions in the summer for £2m. During the first-half of this season he has made his Champions League debut and earned plaudits for his highly impressive performances. In February he became the first English keeper to play in the Last 16 of Europe’s premier tournament – the...

Funnyman Will Ferrell and chef Gordon Ramsay were left injured as England beat the Rest of the World 3-1 in celebrity sporting event Soccer Aid on Sunday.
Hell's Kitchen star Ramsay was given oxygen on the pitch and was stretchered from the field of play after he was clattered from behind by former England international Teddy Sheringham in the charity game.
And Anchorman star Ferrell hobbled out of the match when he suffered a leg injury late in the second half.
Kasabian rocker Serge Pizzorno opened the scoring for the Rest of the World team with a sensational chip over former England goalkeeper David Seaman, but the England side fought back in the second half with goals from Sheringham, captain Jonathan Wilkes and soccer ace Kevin Phillips to win the game 3-1.
Stars including Mike Myers, Gerard Butler, Edward Norton, Woody Harrelson and Michael Sheen went up against an England side which included Take That's Mark Owen and Jls singers Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes in the biennial match, held in Manchester, England.
The event, organised by Owen's fellow Take That star Robbie Williams, raised more than $6.4 million (£4 million) for Unicef.
Pizzorno was awarded the honour of Man of the Match for his stunning goal.

A thunderous 20 yard strike late in extra time from substitue Sammy Ameobi pushed Premier League club Newcastle United over the line against their tricky League Two opposition Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park tonight but for a long, long time… it looked like they were going to crash out of the League cup in the 2nd round like many of their peers this week.
Thankfully there was no repeat of the embarrassing visitors supporters reaction to Shola’s 19 year old brother’s winning strike against Darlington in a pre-season friendly last night month when they lived up to their threats “if Sammy scores, we’re on the pitch” for the enthusiastic and willing youngster who the Toon Army have quickly found a fondness for.
Scunthorpe had started the game brightly. Highly organised, energetic and with an urgency to close down the visitors and not let them play football. It really shook...
