- Former England international football striker.
- Scored two goals for England at Euro '96. Both were in the final group match against Holland, which England won 4-1. He also scored in the semi-final penalty shootout against Germany.
- Teddy reprised his striking partnership with Alan Shearer, which had been effective for England at Euro '96, when England began their World Cup campaign in 1998. However, he was replaced by 18 year old Michael Owen in the second match, and the teenager ended Sheringham's chances of continuing as an England regular.
- Recalled to the national squad due to an injury to Michael Owen, he proved he is still a class act to any doubters by scoring a clever header against Greece in England's decisive World Cup qualifier. Coming on as a substitute, he had only been on the pitch for a few seconds - and his goal was the fastest goal ever scored by an England substitute. (October 6, 2001)
