Back in September, Tchami and Malaa teamed up to deliver “Prophecy,” a hard hitting collaboration that offered up the best of both producer’s styles with an electrifying blend of future house and G house. This week we’re revisiting the single as it becomes the subject of a new five track remix Ep, with mixes from Kyle Watson, Senor Roar, Michael Sparks, Badjokes, and Jace Mek.
Across five tracks, the “Prophecy” remix Ep offers up a slew of reinterpretations of the tune’s bass heavy house rhythms, with none of the mixers straying too far from the original version. Up first is Kyle Watson’s rework, which leads with shuffling beats, muted bass riffs and haunting ambience. Senor Roar follows suit with an aggressive bass house rendition, infusing his remix with metallic growling synths, driving rhythms and cascading build ups.

Hardwell has teased an upcoming release in the form of his edit of Domeno and Michael Sparks’ “Locked & Loaded” that delivers a lethal main stage payload. Similar to when Nicky Romero or Tiësto release their own edits of artists’ tracks under their respective labels, Hardwell will make the song available through Revealed Recordings in about a week’s time.
I made an edit of Locked & Loaded by Domeno & Michael Sparks, check out the preview! Release date is August 17th.

Driven by a powerful synth lead that froths up to a fever pitch, “Locked & Loaded” has Revealed written all over it. A chugging drop made to ignite a sold-out festival crowd in frenzied movement follows, but the sample cuts off before the upswell leads back into the melody. While the track is about as formulaic as progressive house gets, it’s easy to see it...

“After seeing how well received our debut was, and still is received, we can take confidence in the fact that in this day and age, in this modern musical climate, there is barely a reason why it is not possible to control, and release your own music, off your own back. For that reason we take real pride in the fact there is nobody, and nothing, standing in between our music, and our fans. It’s a very exciting time for music, and especially home grown British music, and we feel privileged to be in the position where we can release this new album to the world ourselves.”

"It felt like a movie" was both a sickening and apt descriptor for the September 11, 2001, attacks. The apocalyptic scene was pegged to a part of our consciousness that isn't supposed to intersect with reality, one that's safely tucked away in a world where the human appetite for destruction can be indulged free of any qualms. The collision of these two worlds rippled our cultural fabric, and over the last decade, we've accounted for it.
Here enters our compendium of how ours and other cultures have responded to 9/11. It's meant to be a snapshot, not a comprehensive study. But though the forums are unrelated, its a strangely fluent cross-section of human reaction, from Bollywood's surprisingly lengthy 9/11 film history to the depths of Urban Dictionary.
The colors on the graphic denote what level of alert our country was on at the time, providing a sense of a nation guided by voices of fear.
