Called the Detroit Spinners in the United Kingdom because of a conflict with a British group of the same name.
They started out in the late 1950s as a doo-wop group in Detroit. They performed on the Motown label in the 1960s, but became famous after moving to Atlantic Records in the 1970s.
The Spinners were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Recording at 6723 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.
