The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
The Collector
If the triumphant return of the Saw franchise has you in the mood for more trap-laden horrors, look no further than The Collector — which was originally conceived as a prequel to Saw that would show Jigsaw’s original story. When producers passed on the idea, writers Patrick Melton & Marcus Dunstan (Saw IV-vii) reworked it into an original script, which Dunstan directed in 2009.
A slasher/home invasion hybrid for the so-called “torture porn” era, The Collector stars Criminal Minds‘ Josh Stewart as struggling ex-con Arkin. A planned heist at his new employer’s home to repay a debt becomes deadly when he...

Guillermo del Toro who – alongside Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan – conceived the story for this screen adaptation of the beloved spooky children’s books of the same name by Alvin Schwartz, has been eager to get this project seen by an equally youthful audience. Passed as a PG-13 in the Us, here in the UK the film has been classified a 15 but this does not harm a film that is mostly quite capable of satisfying older and younger horror fans alike. Less an anthology horror structure and more of a story in the vein of It, this film has the fingerprints of del Toro clearly visible on it and expresses the dark affection the film’s makers all have for the source material.

According to Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark‘s narration, some stories hurt. Some stories heal. In the case of André Øvredal’s bone-chilling anthology adaptation, some stories scare the ever-loving life out of audiences. Yes, Alvin Schwartz’s terrifying anecdotes angle towards children – but, like Stephen Gammell’s illustrations, Øvredal treats his intended audience as horror fans.
It’s *healthy* to feel scared, and this summer’s Guillermo del Toro-produced “introductory” horror tale is anything but 101-basic. No pandering to “age-appropriateness,” aka watered down kiddie content. As Schwartz’s stories come alive, nightmares suck the air from your lungs. Stick to Goosebumps if your family haunts easily – these scary stories aren’t for the faint of heart.

With a title like The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot, people going to see this movie will probably be expecting something very strange. And that’s kind of what you get but in a different way than you might think.
I will say it immediately, this is not a ridiculous B-movie that the title may suggest. It has one moment or scene in particular that goes down that route but that is it. This is much more serious than I expected and a good chunk of the movie is spent focusing on a love story between the ‘man’, Calvin Barr (played by Aidan Turner in his younger years and Sam Elliott in his later life). The man who did what and then what? Robert D. Krzykowski’s first feature isn’t a throwaway joke, but an elegantly crafted and designed fantasy grounded in human values. Sam Elliott’s crusty sixty-something secret agent comes out of retirement to save the world again — will the slaying of another bizarre horror lay to rest disturbing memories of a secret WW2 mission? This thing will be a pleasant discovery for those in pursuit of ‘something completely different.’ The intentionally awkward title is jarring, but it fits because I’ve never seen anything quite like this before.

Tagline: "An American Myth." The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot is based on Calvin Barr's life. In the film, Calvin gets in close to Hitler as an assassin. Not much later, he is shipped out to the woods to face another threat. This title was at last year's Fantasia Film Festival. Recently, director Robert D. Krzykowski won a "Best Director" award in Boston. Now, this film is set to show on Digital platforms and in U.S. theatres. The film stars: Aidan Turner (The Hobbit), Ron Livingston (The Conjuring), Sean Bridgers, Caitlin FitzGerald, Larry Miller and Ellar Coltrane; actor Mark Steger plays the Bigfoot. Fans of creature features or of adventure films can see the trailer for The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot below. Kryzkowski recently sat down for an interview on this film, at HorrorCultFilms. The director said of the film's genre: "it...

"I never wanted that. Even if he had it coming... And he did." Rlje Entertainment has debuted the official trailer for an indie film titled The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then The Bigfoot, which is one of the best titles for a film in the last few years. This character study is not so much an action film or a thriller, but more of a look at the life of Calvin Barr, played by Sam Eillott, indeed the man who killed Hitler and then years later killed Bigfoot (to save the world). The film is not what you're expecting, but is actually impressive in quite a few ways - Elliott's performance is outstanding, and the cinematography/look of everything is very cinematic. The small cast of the film includes Aidan Turner, Ron Livingston, Sean Bridgers. Caitlin FitzGerald, Larry Miller, Ellar Coltrane, and Mark Steger as The Bigfoot. Fs is...

Inspirations, special effects, a nod to Jaws and what could have been a near fatal accident, we go behind the scenes on Stranger Things...
This story originally appeared on Den of Geek UK.
If like me, you’re a Stranger Things aficionado, you’re probably kicking your heels and mourning not making the annual round trip to Hawkins, Indiana this autumn, as the show takes a year off before season three releases. Upsetting, I know. While you could "do a Joyce" and spend that time howling in anguish at the walls, cursing the fickle and cruel gods of television, ultimately, that’s an inadvisable approach, as you’ll probably just get a sore throat and blame it on us.
Fear not though, because a crumb of comfort is on the way. The official Stranger Things behind-the-scenes companion has just released, courtesy of Penguin Random House, and it...

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from Season 2 of “Stranger Things.”]
After the Demogorgon terrorized Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of “Stranger Things,” Season 2 doubled down on the monsters by bringing on the Mind-Flayer, which will be discussed at a later date, and showing another dimension of the Demogorgons. The precocious Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) adopts a strange, tadpole-like creature he found in is trash can, but the cute critter grows rapidly, has carnivorous appetites, and soon becomes a Demodog, aka a creature that looks an awful like a Demogorgon that moves on all fours.

Without “Game of Thrones” in Emmy contention, the VFX race has become wide open, with “Stranger Things,” “Legion,” “Westworld,” “American Gods,” and “Black Mirror” stepping up with creepy characters and supernatural situations.
Highlights include the Demogorgon creature from “Stranger Things,” the exploding kitchen from “Legion,” the final reveal of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and all of her inner workings from “Westworld,” the incredible sex scene from “American Gods” with Bilquis, the Queen of Sheeba (Yetide Badaki), and the disgusting spider with a human head from the “Playtest” episode of “Black Mirror.”
Meet the Demogorgon from “Stranger Things”
The cool thing about the Demogorgon from “Stranger Things” (directed by the Duffer Brothers) is it fits so well with the ’80s low-tech vibe. As the boogeyman from the Upside Down (named from “Dungeons & Dragons”), the creature represents a wonderful hybrid of practical and CG.

While the Stranger Things Demogorgon remains something of a mystery going into season 2, one thing's been cleared up: The identity behind the monster. As it turns out, the Demogorgon isn't portrayed by CGI - he's played by a real man in a physical costume named Mark Steger. "He was amazing!" star Millie Bobby Brown, 12, tells People exclusively of the actor. "He was so great. If Netflix’s “Stranger Things” has taught us anything (besides how to punch a hole through dimensions), it’s that childhood and creepy stuff go hand-in-hand.
That winning combo created the man behind “Stranger Thing’s” monster, Hollywood’s go-to creature guy Mark Steger, who has both performed and choreographed movements for all things eerie in projects such as “World War Z,” “American Horror Story” and “I Am Legend.” In an interview with IndieWire, Steger detailed some of the influences and surprisingly complex biological inspirations that went into creating the Demogorgon.

Warning: There are some Stranger Things spoilers below. You probably don't know Mark Steger's face, but you've likely seen his work. As one of Hollywood's top movement choreographers, the actor and artist has brought a plethora of inhuman creatures to life in such popular films and TV shows as I Am Legend, World War Z, Men in Black II and American Horror Story, to name just a few. This summer, Steger enjoyed perhaps his biggest role to date as the the petal-headed Monster in Netflix's breakout hit Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers-created series that has become a bona fide phenomenon since premiering in July. A humanoid beast dubbed the "Demogorgon" by the show's trio of D&D-loving friends, the creature also enjoys a strange, profound relationship with the telekinetic Eleven (Millie Brown), a bond that has spawned innumerable fan theories since the show's debut. For Steger, playing the Monster...

Prey, also known as Indigenous, follows a group of tourists as they travel to the paradise of Panama for their post-graduation vacation. After meeting a few locals, the five friends decide to check out a supposedly magical waterfall deep in the jungle, despite others warning them of the lurking indigenous Chupacabras. After their guide vanishes, the group soon find they have fallen prey to something stalking them in the jungle.
In this day and age of instant gratification, the fact that a movie has taken two years to finally see the light of day in the UK – especially given how fast non-theatrical titles hit VOD these days – is usually a bad omen. And that’s totally true of Prey; a film which wastes 25 minutes of its already short, less than 80 minutes,...

*full disclosure: an Blu-ray screener of this film was provided by IFC Films. **there are spoilers here. Director/writer: Nicholas McCarthy. Cast: Catalina Sandino Moreno, Naya Rivera, Ashley Rickards and Mark Steger. At the Devil's Door is the first film of the year to send real chills up this viewer's spine. Director and writer Nicholas McCarthy (The Pact) delivers another memorable and frightening tale. The film's central plot involves the birth of the Devil. This plot device has been used before in films like Rosemary's Baby (1968), The Devil's Due (2014) and many others. Here, McCarthy offers his own unique vision on the subject, which is most effectively delivered through the film's sound design. Horrifying visuals are minimized, while unsettling sounds and music are maximized, to terrifying effect. Well shot, At the Devil's Door is a truly horrifying viewing experience. In the story, Hannah (Ashley Rickards), unwittingly, makes a deal with the Devil.

The Pact
Directed By: Nicholas McCarthy
Written By: Nicholas McCarthy
Starring: Caity Lotz (Annie), Kathleen Rose Perkins (Liz), Haley Hudson (Stevie), Sam Ball (Giles), Mark Steger (Charles), Agnes Bruckner (Nichole), Casper Van Dien (Creek), Dakota Bright (Eva), Petra Wright (Jennifer), Sam Zuckerman (County Clerk)
“The Pact” exceeded my expectations. I honestly had never heard of this film until I was doing a search for horror films during that particular year and decided to give this unnoticed film a shot. I am glad I did. I was expecting a rather predictable haunted house flick that turned out to be . . . the exact opposite of what I thought would happen. Upon research, I found out this film had a good reception at a festival and then the director was given a shot to make it “again” with a better budget. This is one of the better horror...

Making a sequel to even a hit independent horror film can be a daunting task. It might not hold quite as much accountability as coming up with the next entry in the X-Men or Batman franchises, but still a nerve-wracking charge nonetheless. It’s a challenge Co-Directors Dallas Richard Hallam and Patrick Horvath embraced when asked to helm the follow-up to Nicholas McCarthy’s supernatural thriller The Pact.
The Pact was a sleeper hit for Director / Writer Nicholas McCarthy who worked the film festival circuit and successfully secured theatrical and home entertainment distribution through heavy-hitters like IFC Films, E One Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox. Reviews for the movie were mainly positive not only through major horror outlets like Shockya.com and Horror.com, but mainstream ones such as the Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and Village Voice. Murky Contract Part Deux: Hallam & Horvath Continue to Stir a Slushy Cauldron
A vaguely administered narrative continues to plague the concept of what comprises The Pact 2, the sequel to Nicholas McCarthy’s 2012 first film, which had been based on his original short. Directing duo Dallas Richard Hallam and Patrick Horvath take over the directorial and screenwriting reigns for this revolution. However, despite sharing the title and star of the predecessor, there’s little to significantly link this to the skimpy entrails of the first chapter, itself a film criticized for ambience but faltering in nearly every other department. This latest installment suffers from the same derivative issues, though correctly straddles a menacing tone, while at the same time offering up a committed cast this time around.
June Abbott (Camilla Luddington) is a young woman plagued by nightmares. This should come as no surprise considering her grisly occupation as someone who cleans up crime scenes.

The FrightFest All-Nighter 14 returns to its spiritual home, The Prince Charles Cinema, on Saturday October 25th, with five killer titles, including the world premiere of Anthony Diblasi’s Last Shift.
The evening kicks off with a special preview of The Vicious Brothers Extraterrestrial, a fine blend of Close Encounters and Communion with “some of the most extraordinary special effects and camerawork you’ll see in 2015″. Next up, The ABC’s of Death 2 needs no introduction. The first was a huge draw at FrightFest Glasgow and now attendees can scream along to 26 more deaths by 26 handpicked filmmakers. This is followed by the world premiere of Anthony Diblasi’s demonic horror Last Shift, which had to be dropped from the August line-up because of altered release and completion dates as did the next film – the highly anticipated sequel The Pact II, which has its UK premiere. Arriving this September on VOD is Dallas Richard Hallam and Patrick Horvat's horror sequel 'The Pact 2'. A small selection of new stills from the production have emerged, three of which are fairly unremarkable but do have the bonus of featuring the gorgeous leading duo Camilla Luddington ('True Blood') and Caity Lotz ('The Machine'). The fourth bringing along a lot more creepiness of what we should expect. 'The Pact 2' will also receive a theatrical release on 10 October. The sequel also stars Scott Michael Foster ('Zero Hour'), Patrick Fischler ('Lost'), Haley Hudson ('Freaky Friday') and Mark Steger ('I Am Legend'). Check out the new pics below....

Caity Lotz appears to have a significant role in The Pact II based on the film's trailer which made its debut today from IFC. I figured for sure Lotz, who starred in the original film directed by Nicholas McCarthy, would pop up for a two minute cameo.
The film stars Camilla Luddington, Patrick Fischler, Scott Michael Foster, Haley Hudson and Mark Steger. Entrance's Dallas Hallam and Patrick Horvath directed this entry.
