Gwen Stefani‘s climb to fame started with No Doubt before breaking out into a successful solo career. But despite all of her success as a solo artist, the records she made with her band still had a special place in her heart.

Stefani would become even bigger than her band No Doubt when embarking on her solo career in 2001. After doing so, she made several hit records like “Hollaback Girl” and “Sweet Escape” to become one of the industry’s biggest pop artists. One of the reasons why Stefani pursued her solo career was out of a desire to explore different types of music.
“I just got this feeling that I wanted to make a dance record,” Stefani once said on The Howard Stern Show.

Miley Cyrus took home one of the night’s top prizes, record of the year, at the 2024 Grammys for “Flowers,” presented by Meryl Streep and her son-in-law, Mark Ronson.
Streep kicked off the presentation by saying they would be presenting the best album of the year, because a record is an album. Then Ronson explained that is not what the award is. It actually recognizes everything that goes into making a song, including artists, producers, recording engineers, mixers and mastering engineers.
“Flowers” producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson; engineers/mixers Michael Pollack, Brian Rajaratnam and Mark “Spike” Stent; and mastering engineer Joe Laporta were also recognized for the award.
“Thank you all so much,” Cyrus began her acceptance speech. “This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday. Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.

July 3rd has a full moon, and with it comes “So Much,” a new song from Peter Gabriel’s upcoming album, i/o. Listen to the track below.
Written and produced by Gabriel himself, “So Much” features a string arrangement from John Metcalfe, while Tony Levin plays bass, David Rhodes contributes guitar, and Gabriel’s daughter, Melanie, sings backing vocals. Gabriel calls the track a “simple song” about making the most of the life we’re given.
“I was trying purposefully not to be clever with this,” the artist explained. “I wanted to get a very simple chorus but one which still had some substance to the harmony and melody. Something that was easy to digest but still had a bit of character to it.”
Gabriel continued, “‘So Much’ is about mortality, getting old, all the bright, cheerful subjects, but I think when you get to my sort of age,...

Peter Gabriel has shared “Road to Joy,” the sixth single from his upcoming album, i/o.
Co-produced by Brian Eno, the “Bright-Side Mix” of the song mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent, “Road to Joy” explores the reawakening of senses.
“I’m working on a project which is partly a story focused around the brain and how we perceive things and this song connects to that,” Gabriel said in a statement. “It deals with near-death experience and locked-in syndrome situations where people are unable to communicate or to move. It’s an amazingly frustrating condition.

Peter Gabriel creates a slow-building metaphor for radical terrorism on “Four Kinds of Horses,” the latest single he’s released from his upcoming album, i/o.
On the song, which made its debut Friday as a remix (the “Bright-Side Mix,” by Mark “Spike” Stent), he sings, “Your mind is made up so certain what is right/But when they ordered everything/Will they see you were born so bright.” The music, which features some keys courtesy of Brian Eno, feels atmospheric, swirling and sparkling around Gabriel’s voice. Peter Gabriel is set to return soon with i/o, his first album in over two decades. Coinciding with the April 6th full moon, he’s offered another preview of the record with the “Bright-Side Mix” of its title track.
“‘I/O’ means input/output,” Gabriel explained in a press release. “You see it on the back of a lot of electrical equipment and it just triggered some ideas about the stuff we put in and pull out of ourselves, in physical and non-physical ways. That was the starting point of this idea and then trying to talk about the interconnectedness of everything. The older I get, I probably don’t get any smarter, but I have learned a few things and it makes a lot of sense to me that we are not these independent islands that we like to think we are, that we are part of a whole.

Paul McCartney visited The Daily Show on Tuesday to promote "Hope for the Future," his original song written for video game Destiny. But instead of discussing the track in detail, he and host Jon Stewart mostly goof around about random topics – including McCartney's subpar gaming skills and Stewart's son's preference for Ellen over The Daily Show.
In the above clip, the former Beatle strides onstage to a "thunderous" audience ovation, leading Stewart to make a self-deprecating jab. "I’ve had a lot of jobs where I showed up, no applause,...
