Mick Garris has long been a champion of horror, developing platforms for icons in the genre through series like Masters of Horror and the Post Mortem podcast. As a talented director in his own right, Garris had the unenviable task of holding down the fort in what many deem to be horror’s “rebuilding years” of the late ’ 80s and early ’90s. But he did so with style, producing work that tiptoed deftly between dark and fun in films like the bizarre, campy, incestuous feline flick Sleepwalkers. Apart from being a great movie, Sleepwalkers also kicked off a creative relationship between Garris and Stephen King, as Garris would go on to adapt not one, but two of King’s books into miniseries in an era when “event television” was still a thing. The first of which was a bold undertaking in bringing one of King’s biggest, most epic tales...

This article contains spoilers for the 1994 miniseries The Stand and likely the 2020 series by extension.
The Stand is considered by many, to this day, to be one of Stephen King’s three or four finest novels. It is certainly among his most beloved by longtime readers, because of its sheer size and the scope and breadth of its storytelling. A hybrid of horror, apocalyptic sci-fi and epic fantasy (King has said he explicitly wanted to create a sort of modern day The Lord of the Rings), it’s an eerie, surreal tale of the fall of civilization and the battle for the souls of those left alive in the aftermath.
A motion picture adaptation was first announced on the back cover of the paperback version of the book (with George A. Romero directing), but to many, a miniseries seemed like the only way to adapt The Stand due to its sheer size.

Julia Roberts is so happy right now — and she not afraid to get cheesy about it.
“There’s no way to describe it without sounding sappy or ridiculous because everything in my mind ends with an exclamation point,” the icon says in the December issue of InStyle, while also gracing the fashion monthly’s cover. Specifically, she’s talking about life with her husband of 15 years, cinematographer Danny Moder, and their three children: Henry Daniel, 10, and twins Hazel Patricia and Phinnaeus “Finn” Walter, 12.
“The thing is,” she continues, “we have these three human beings who are just a complete reflection...

Exclusive: Macmillan Entertainment is teaming with screenwriter/actor/producer Adam Storke to turn his screen adaptation of the Macmillan UK novel Acts Of Violence by Ryan David Jahn into a feature film. The book is inspired by the shameful murder of Kitty Genovese, who suffered a brutal attack during an evening in 1964 in the courtyard of her own apartment building. As she screamed for help, her neighbors displayed notorious apathy. Though it was reported that 38 neighbors heard her screams, no one came to her aid, or even bothered to call the police through the prolonged attack. This tells the story […]...

It was a momentous occasion as the cast of the movie "Mystic Pizza" reunited on "Good Morning America," nearly 25 years after the movie premiered. Julia Roberts joined her cast mates, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lili Taylor, Annabeth Gish, William R. Moses and Adam Storke to talk about their experiences making the movie, and share some of their secrets and favorite moments.
One of the revelations from the interview, done as part of EW's annual reunion issue, is that D'Onofrio was considering pulling out of the movie, until he had a table reading with the three female leads, with each impressing him enough to make him want to stay. "Miss Roberts here -- you just knew when she met Julia she was gonna be a huge star," he says. "There was no doubt in our minds, any of us. She was like a bomb waiting to go off.

“I have a feeling that Mystic Pizza may someday become known for the movie stars it showcased back before they became stars,” Roger Ebert wrote upon the film’s release in 1988. He wasn’t kidding: Though this smart coming-of-age comedy has plenty of merits, it’s best known today for introducing the world to a feisty Georgia native with a megawatt smile named Julia Roberts.

The Civil War effectively ended in April 1865 when Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, but another civil war was already brewing out west. The "Western Civil War of Incorporation" found Americans at odds with one another yet again, only this time the battle lines were drawn between rich capitalists and settlers. In the spirit of such classic movies as The Virginian, Shane and True Grit, tonight's MovieMovie is based on one of the most notorious conflicts of this war, the Wyoming Range or Johnson County War of 1892 in which large corporate ranchers hired gunmen to intimidate and kill any independent ranchers or settlers that defied them.
A Hallmark original movie directed by David Cass (Uncorked), Johnson County War is based on the novel Riders of Judgment by Frederick Mandred, a fictionalized account of the conflict told...

"The Adjustment Bureau" explores a question that has haunted mankind for centuries: Is the future predetermined? Matt Damon stars as an up-and-coming politician who decides to fight fate (literally) to be with the woman he loves (Emily Blunt).
By becoming an A-list star, Damon has definitely followed the road less traveled in his own life. Was Hollywood stardom always in the cards for the Massachusetts native, or did he have to fight men in gray suits to get where he is today?
Damon seemed to know his course from a young age. He began acting in high school and landed his first film role at 18 alongside future "Ocean's Eleven" costar Julia Roberts in "Mystic Pizza."
Damon's "Steamer" is the younger brother of Daisy's (Roberts) rich boyfriend Charles (Adam Storke), and though he only appears in one scene (where Charlie shocks his family by bringing Daisy, "his poor Portuguese girlfriend," home...
