- Before embarking on a film career, Strongheart was a delegate to the House of Representatives for the Indian People.
- He spoke 8 Native American languages fluently.
- Was one of the first technical advisors in film history along with James Young Deer, Red Wing, and Rodd Redwing (particularly for those films portraying Native Americans).
- Strongheart (real name George Mitchell, Jr.) was only an honorary member of the Yakama Nation. His family's name does not appear on the Yakama Agency records and he was never enrolled. He did, however, closely identify with Yakama culture and tradition.
