Brian Cox is an iconic actor known for portraying the role of Logan Roy in the iconic HBO show Succession. Starring in one of the major roles, Cox portrayed the role for 6 years before the series ended in 2023.
With the actor portraying the role of William Stryker in the 2003 film X2, Cox revealed that he didn’t mind when Danny Huston took over the role for him. It seems that the actor, however, had a problem when the question about why he wasn’t selected again stuck with him.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
“Tastes like chicken.” If that phrase brings to mind the evil mutant the Blob chowing down on the Wasp’s corpse, then the ending of X-Men ’97‘s eighth episode, “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One,” should send shivers down your spine.
After all, Magneto’s decision to attack the entire planet Earth in X-Men ’97 has a lot in common with the inciting event of Ultimatum, the 2009 Marvel event that somehow made the already grim and edgy Ultimate Marvel Universe even grimmer and edgier, to very mixed results.
The connections between Ultimatum and “Tolerance Is Extinction Part One” only stand out more when one considers all of the many cameos in the episode, which showed that anti-mutant bigotry isn’t just limited to the X-Men, but it affects the entire Marvel Universe.
Here’s a breakdown of all the cameos in the star-studded episode...

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" follow.
You may not remember that the original "X-Men" cartoon from 1992 kicked off a flurry of '90s Marvel cartoons sometimes known as "The Marvel Animated Universe." This universe is less well known than the contemporary DC Animated Universe ("Batman: The Animated Series" up to "Justice League Unlimited"). The DC cartoons were overseen by a single creative team, so the connections were organic and culminated in story arcs. The Marvel cartoons, though? They all aired simultaneously (rather than in succession like the DC ones) and had different creators, so the most intersection was occasional crossovers.
"X-Men '97" remains laser-focused on the marvelous mutants, but it hasn't been shy about including cameos from other corners of the Marvel Comics setting. Episode 6, "Lifedeath – Part 2" featured Ronan The Accuser (you might remember him as the villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy"). Episode 7, "Bright Eyes," saw Rogue butt heads with Captain America.

Deadpool & Wolverine is rapidly approaching and new promo art from the movie puts the Merc with the Mouth and his bonkers Variants front and centre.
We have hi-res shots of Kidpool, Babypool, Dogpool, and Headpool (who is rumoured to be the severed head of Weapon XI from X-Men Origins: Wolverine). None of them have been showcased in the movie's trailers, suggesting the plan is for the Variants to be - mostly - kept under wraps.
There's also a great shot of Hugh Jackman suited up as Wolverine and lots of eye-catching pieces with the McU's "Best Bubs" striking different poses together.
While we've now seen plenty of Wade Wilson's Variants, chances are the movie's biggest cameos will be kept under wraps until post-release.
One actor we can seemingly forget about seeing in Deadpool & Wolverine is X2: X-Men United star Brian Cox. Asked by The Starting Line if he's...

If you’ve been paying attention, you know the biggest superhero movie of the year, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ is almost here. It’s bringing Deadpool into the MCU and aims to restore fans’ faith after a few disappointing releases in the past two years.
Apart from being a Deadpool flick, fans are hyped about the possible cameos and appearances from different characters, with rumors swirling about over 20 people making a return, although only a few are seen in the trailers.
There were also rumors suggesting that Brian Cox might reprise his role as William Stryker in the film. Cox portrayed the antagonist in ‘X2’ before the role was taken over by Danny Huston in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ In the movies, Stryker is depicted as a military scientist who conducts experiments on mutants to develop potent weapons and control methods. Cox addressed the speculation about his potential return in an interview with The Starting Line Podcast.

By now if you’re not living under a rock, you’re aware that the biggest superhero cinematic event of the year is coming close to release – ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie is set to introduce Deadpool to the MCU, and it’s also supposed to restore some of the faith in the MCU following a series of flops released in the last 2 years.
Other than being a Deadpool movie, fans are excited about the prospect of various cameos and variants both rumored and confirmed to take part in the movie. There are over 20 people rumored to return to the film, but only some of them can be seen in the trailers.

Many of us were excited about the prospect of The New Mutants a few years ago. The sales pitch of an “X-Men horror movie” sounded like a match made in heaven. As often happens, the film that was released was far more of a pillow fight than the cage match I’d hoped for.
But as we excitedly embrace the kid in us with the release of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, I couldn’t help but imagine a more adult side of that universe. What if the X-Men franchise embraced the opportunity to lean into the horror genre? I’m talking about the body horror of its mutants, the cruelness of its villains, and the potential for superhumanly violent finishers that would make Mortal Kombat blush. With all that in mind, I took a look through the original X-Men films on a horror scavenger hunt and found some pretty cool trinkets along the way.

We still remember how, back in 2021, we all anticipated ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and expected all the cameos and special returns. Even though some of them weren’t officially confirmed, the majority of reports turned out to be true back then. Then, in 2022, we all expected ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ to be another cameo-fest, which turned out to be true in one way, but not entirely like in Spider-Man’s case.
You know the saying: history always repeats itself. So now, we are all looking forward to ‘Deadpool 3,’ which will feature some already confirmed special returns, but of course, there are always rumors and reports that there will be many more. How many of those rumors are true? Only time will tell. Until then, another rumor from a known leaker has surfaced on the internet, teasing one more special return for the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ threequel.

Who has a better rogues gallery than Batman? Sure, the X-Men have some greats in Magneto, Stryker, and Mr. Sinister. And Spider-Man’s got the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Mysterio. But none of these baddies can touch the denizens of Arkham Asylum for their variety and malleability. Even if film adaptations keep going back to the same few characters, the psychologically twisted enemies offer room for multiple interpretations, allowing actors to find something different to each version.
But as great as they are, some Batman villains are better than others, allowing for a clear ranking of all the Bat-Baddies.
First, Batman may not have any limitations, but this list does. This ranking only covers live-action theatrical feature films. So we’re leaving off characters that never made it to the movies or those who appeared in an animated movie.
Furthermore, we’re focusing mostly on costumed villains, not regular thugs,...

X2: X-Men United Adapted The God Loves, Man Kills Marvel Comic Arc, But It's Missing One Key Element
"X2: X-Men United" was released 20 years ago, and it remains easily the best of the original "X-Men" trilogy and one of the first hints that superhero movies were a Hollywood heavyweight. Even so, "X2" isn't free of the sin that many adaptations commit. Namely, not honoring the source material's spirit.
The most influential "X-Men" writer is Chris Claremont. He wrote the series from 1975 to 1991, rescuing the comic from obscurity in the process. He also gave the setting the political backbone for which it's now known. Stan Lee retroactively claimed he based Professor X and Magneto on Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, but read his "X-Men" stories and you won't find credence for that or much of a bite at all. Lee was, in the words of "Marvel Comics: The Untold Story" author Sean Howe, "a master fence-sitter."
Claremont, though, had a firmer spine. Magneto being a Holocaust survivor?...

Even two decades after their release, the original "X-Men" movies remain gems of the superhero genre. They are bold, ambitious, unique movies -- the first two anyway -- with exquisite casting and poignant stories of bigotry and tolerance. They also gave us Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen in tremendous roles that have defined their respective characters, delivering a grounded look that, for better or worse, established a certain superhero style that still resonates to this very day.
After the success of "X-Men" in 2000, "X2: X-Men United" went even bigger and better, with louder action set pieces, more mutants, and a classic story of old enemies banding together to face one hell of a villain.
Perhaps no aspect of this movie feels more miraculous in 2023 than the character of William Stryker, the main antagonist of the film. Aside from having Logan Roy from "Succession" as the bad guy, the...

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
It is remarkably difficult to picture now, but there was a time when superhero movies were not the dominant force in Hollywood. They were, at best, a fluke when they worked. Marvel only gained its first mainstream hit with "Blade" in 1998 and, frankly, its $131 million global haul is very modest by modern standards. That movie, however, opened the door for 2000's "X-Men," which is arguably the watershed moment in superhero movie history, with "Spider-Man" blowing the door wide open in 2002.
"X-Men" taking in nearly $300 million worldwide against a $75 million budget gave 20th Century Fox confidence to move forward with a sequel almost right away, and that sequel would arrive in 2003 in the form of "X2," aka "X2: X-Men United." In every conceivable way,...

I as another is Miguel Gutierrez’s newest work, a duet performed with Laila Franklin. The piece takes place in a future/present dystopia and explores the virtual architecture of memory, what it means to be alongside one another, and how existential despair has come into public view. Drawing inspiration from Martinican philosopher Édouard Glissant and his conceptions of Relation and opacity, I as another examines what it means for difference to come into contact and how unknowable we can be.

It’s that time of year once again. And as Luiz pointed out last year, just because it’s the festive season, doesn’t mean that we need to give up on our horror gaming.
With that in mind, and despite what you might think, there’s actually more than just a handful of holiday horror games (and winter-themed games that you could squeeze in) for you to enjoy by the fire. And thanks to indie game developers in particular, there are a wealth choices for those looking to add something sinister to their Christmas stockings.

There’s good reason why “Airplane!” holds Empire Magazine’s title for Funniest Comedy Ever. The 1980 film is a nonstop riot. Written and directed by Jim Abrahams and Jerry and David Zucker, the comedy delivers one endlessly quotable laugh after another for nearly 90 minutes straight. Even if you’ve watched the classic a hundred times, there’s a bit of “Airplane!” trivia you might not know. Granted, the movie is a parody of the disaster flick genre, but it’s specifically a spoof of “Zero Hour,” a 1957 Paramount film in which an air force veteran must fly a passenger jet after everyone else on board succumbs to a bad case of food poisoning. Sound familiar? “Airplane!” borrowed the plot exactly, but went even further. The flying ace protagonist in “Zero Hour” is named Ted Stryker, while in “Airplane!” Robert Hays plays Ted Striker, air force veteran. Even dialogue is lifted...

Here's a fact that I only just learned today: directors David Zucker, Jerry Zucker, and Jim Abrahams all originally hail from the great state of Wisconsin. By itself, this probably can't even be qualified as "fun" trivia, but it does create a bit of context for this new Airplane!-themed ad put together to try and help increase tourism in the Badger State: The Zuckers and Abrahams (best known by the directing-team acronym Zaz) lent their filmmaking skills to Wisconsin's tourism board to make this fun little TV spot, and they brought along some impressive friends to help the whole thing be that much more special. Robert Hays reprises his famous role as ex-fighter pilot with a drinking problem Ted Stryker, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is back to play himself a.k.a. pilot Roger Murdock (who just can't seem to get enough of Wisconsin's beautiful landscapes). There's even a special...

One of the greatest movies of all-time is coming out on Blu-ray. What is it? It's a polycarbonate disc that contains the digital files of a movie, but that's not important right now.
What is important is the classic comedy "Airplane!" available on Blu-ray for the first time. To celebrate the occasion, we spoke with "Airplane!" star Robert Hays -- Ted Striker himself -- about working with writer/directors David and Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams, battling the late Leslie Nielsen's infamous fart machine, and trying not to freak people out when they recognize him on airplanes. Disengage your autopilot, put down your copy of "Famous Jewish Sports Legends," and enjoy.
How did you get the part? Did you audition?
Yeah, I did. My agency had a new agent and she had just come into the office. She called ["Airplane!" producer] Howard Koch, who she used to work with. They'd been...

Sushi Girl Teaser Trailer, Sushi Girl Movie Clips. Kern Saxton‘s Sushi Girl (2012) teaser trailer, movie clips stars Mark Hamill, Noah Hathaway, Danny Trejo, Sonny Chiba, and Michael Biehn. Sushi Girl‘s plot synopsis: “Fish has spent six years in jail. Six years alone. Six years keeping his mouth shut about the robbery, about the other men involved. The night he is released, the four men he protected with silence celebrate his freedom with a congratulatory dinner. The meal is a lavish array of sushi, served off the naked body of a beautiful young woman (the “sushi girl”).
The sushi girl seems catatonic, trained to ignore everything in the room, even if things become dangerous. Sure enough, the four unwieldy thieves can’t help but open old wounds in an attempt to find their missing loot.”
This looks like a really good revenge movie: Pulp Fiction, with some True Romance,...

Spartacus: Blood and Sand is reportedly close to recasting Andy Whitfield’s title role. Three actors are being flown to New Zealand to test for the part, and presumably to see how they look naked. Leading candidates are Canadian Stephen Amell, Brit Aiden Turner, and Australian Liam McIntyre. You can look over the goods and vote for your favorite here.
Jon Stryker has donated a huge amount of money to gay rights. But he’s also thrown a large amount of money toward protecting primates. And now he’s been rewarded, with a new ape being named in his honor, Rhinopithecus strykeri.
If you’ve recently (since Friday) ridden the California Screamin’ rollercoaster at Disney California Adventure, you might have heard a familiar voice. Neil Patrick Harris recorded some audio to the theme of a carnival barker to go with the ride.
Would you ever live your life built solely around The Advice of Strangers?...

I haven't seen "Vampires Suck" so I have nothing to say against it. I'm not big on Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's most recent spoof flicks, but all credit goes to them for starting a fun series with "Scary Movie." I think my problem with subsequent efforts, like "Date Movie," "Disaster Movie" and "Meet the Spartans," is the lack of a strong narrative thread. Most of the greatest classic send-ups tell a story first and mix in the humor second.
I hear that "Vampires Suck" does that as well, following the basic story beats laid out in "Twilight" and "New Moon." I can't say if they've been taking notes from some of the classics, but whenever one of these movies comes out I always thumb through my catalog and pull out some favorites to watch again. I figure with "Vampires Suck" out tomorrow, now's a good time to share...

If you checked our Comic Con 2010 preview page, you know that one of the panels that we are most excited for this year is James Gunn's Super. Well, we're on hand and we're happy to bring you the play-by-play! 1:20pm Krock DJ Ted Stryker moderating the film panel introducing, in order, James Gunn, Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Nathan Fillion (by far the biggest reaction from the crowd), Michael Rooker, producer Ted Hope (American Splendor), and producer Miranda Bailey. 1:28pm The first rough cut trailer plays to huge reaction giving us our first look at Rainn Wilson as the Crimson Bolt. Followed by a clip in which Wilson beats a line cutter at the movies with a wrench. Great stuff. 1:32 James Gunn says that he has been working on the project for years now but has never been able to find the right man for the lead.

In 1957, Hollywood released a dramatic thriller called Zero Hour! The film focused on Ted Stryker, a WWII pilot suffering over the belief that he was responsible for the deaths of six of his men during his last mission. Over a decade later, he hasn't been on a plane since, until his wife leaves him and makes her exit via the skies. He follows, and disaster strikes. The plane isn't full of con men or snakes, but rather ... food poisoning! With everyone else incapacitated, he has to overcome his fear and fly the plane to safety.
Of course, it sounds familiar even if you never saw it. Twenty-three years later, the entire movie was spoofed in Airplane! revealing not the thrills of the scenario, but the old flick's utter ridiculousness and humor. They didn't just take a random scene here or there, rather, they made more of a spoof remake. Many...

Lindsay Lohan is coming out of the closet and finally confirms her long rumored lesbian relationship with Samantha Ronson. She didn't directly admitted that they're dating, but has been telling DJ Ted Stryker of the syndicated radio show "Loveline" on KROQ in L.A. Monday night, September 22 that she and Samantha have been together for a very long time.
Samantha was the first to have an interview with DJ Ted as she called in on the "Loveline" syndicated show to talk about the plane crash that involved Travis Barker and DJ AM last week. After she finished talking, Lindsay came on line. That was when DJ Ted asked the actress-singer, "You guys, you and Samantha, have been going out for how long now?" Lindsay laughed at first and said after a pause, "A very long time."
DJ Ted then congratulated her, saying "I hope you guys stay together. You're a very lovely-looking couple.
