Ovsyanki or Silent Souls, another title In Competition for Golden Lion statue at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
This time, we’re here to present you a movie that comes from a Russian director Aleksei Fedorchenko that is already being described as “melancholy drama relates the journey of a man and his companion, who travel to a river with the remains of his companion’s late wife.”
Here’s the Silent Souls synopsis: “After a man’s young wife dies suddenly (the cause is never disclosed) he enlists the help of a colleague in disposing of the body in accordance with the local custom.
The characters here are Meryar, descendants of a 400-year-old Finnish tribe once native to that part of western Russia, but now all but forgotten. They have different and non-traditional names for places and people, but most strikingly different are their rituals to do with marriage...

Youth In Revolt (12A)
(Miguel Arteta, 2010, Us) Michael Cera, Portia Doubleday, Justin Long. 89 mins
How many more times can Michael Cera get away with his "I'm the type of guy who never gets the girl" shtick? He always gets the girl. That might offer hope to pale, skinny dweebs everywhere, but it's getting a mite predictable onscreen. So here he expands his range with the invention of a suave imaginary alter-ego, "François Dillinger", who encourages his cultured but meek virgin to be irresistibly bad and dangerous in order to get the girl (Doubleday) – which, of course, he does. As he's driven to commit increasingly ludicrous acts, the movie becomes more desperate and less romantic, but hey! It's progress.
Invictus (12A)
(Clint Eastwood, 2009, Us) Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon. 133 mins
Freeman was destined to play Nelson Mandela some day, but equally inevitable was that any resultant movie was going to be a stately,...

MOSCOW -- Nikita Mikhalkov, president of the Moscow Film Festival and one of Russia's best-known directors, will play the part of a gangland boss in a new film by director Alexsei Balabanov, Mikhalkov's production studio Tri-T said Wednesday. Mikhalkov -- who last appeared onscreen in the 1998 Julia Ormond starrer "The Barber of Siberia" -- will play mafia boss Sergei Mikhailovich in "Zhmurki" (Blind Man's Buff), produced by award-winning producer Sergei Selyanov's company STV. Shot at Moscow's Gorky Film Studios by Balabanov -- whose credits include such Russian boxoffice hits as gangster movie "Brat" (Brother) and Chechen war drama "Vojna" (War) -- the film, billed as a madcap comedy, is due for release in Russia in early June. Set in the 1990s during Russia's wild post-Soviet days, the movie stars many of Russia's most popular young actors, including Alexei Panin and well-established names such as Viktor Sukhorukov and singer Garik Sukachev.
