In the 1970s, there were few genuine heroes on prime time television and even fewer of them were close to being considered “super”. Instead, the three networks fed us giggly television, glossy and empty private eyes, and increasingly silly fare. As a result, our affection for the few genuine heroes is probably enhanced. Over on ABC, there was the Six Million Dollar Man and its spinoff, The Bionic Woman, along with Wonder Woman, for one season before it was moved to CBS. You might consider Kwai Chang Caine from Kung Fu or Carl Kolchak from The Night Stalker, but they lacked what you would consider powers.
Fans, of course, imagined these characters interacting since, after all, they were on the same network, which felt like the same comic book company. Sadly, though, the Amazon Princess’ adventures were during World War II, complicating any such meetings.

Coming to Syfy: "Alien Schoolmarm"
On this week's All Stars, the designers have to design a ready-to-wear look within budget for Nanette Lepore.
First of all ... Nanette Lepore? Give me a break. You know she was probably born Nancy Smith.
And I'm just going to come out and say it ... I didn't like any of the designs this week. Maybe it was the challenge, or the designers are just burnt out, but they were all lackluster. But Mondo did have a few good moments.
So how did the designers do? Below and on the next page you can see the final designs and how they fared.
Austin Scarlett
It's a raincoat! Yeah, the judges were confused, too.
Kenley Collins
The losing design. No one likes a frumpy peacock.
Michael Costello
I can so see Jamie Sommers lounge in this circa 1977.
Mondo Guerra
Definitely ready-to-wear ... if you're ten years old
Because they had to pick someone,...

The results are in! We asked readers to name their favorite TV characters of all time and thousands responded. This year, for the first time, we weren't just asking about favorite gay TV characters. Folks could vote for characters of either gender - and all persuasions. Of course, this being AfterElton we expected gay characters to figure prominently on this list - and they do - but it is interesting to see what female and straight TV roles also resonated with the AfterElton readership.
Before we get to the actual rankings, here are a few statistics.
First, the top fifty came from a broad range of TV shows. Thirty programs were represented, and the two that made the best showing (Glee and Modern Family) placed only four characters each in the rankings.
Second, female characters nabbed 15 of the top 50 spots, or 30%.
Third, obviously a poll like this favors characters from...

Chicago – Two notable character actors held court at the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con in Aug. 2010. Richard Anderson (best known for his role as Oscar Goldman on TV’s “The Six Million Dollar Man”) and John Savage (unforgettable in “The Deer Hunter” and “Hair”) were there to meet admirers, sign autographs and take pictures.
HollywoodChicago.com was also there and scored interviews with both actors. Photographer Joe Arce also captured their very distinct images.
Richard Anderson of “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “The Bionic Woman”
Richard Anderson took a leap into TV lore in the 1970s by portraying the iconic associate, Oscar Goldman, to both Steve Austin and Jamie Sommers, who were also known as the Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman. But the character actor had been around for quite some time before that, establishing himself as supporting player with the MGM studios starting in the early 1940s.

The second season of Warehouse 13 is drawing to a close—the finale airs next Tuesday, September 21. But before that, tonight's episode features Lindsay Wagner, of Bionic Woman fame, in her second appearance as Dr. Vanessa Calder, the physician and old flame of Warehouse boss, Artie.
In a recent conference call interview, Wagner revealed that when she got the call to do the part, she had never seen the show. So she went online and brushed up on her Warehouse 13.
She said she, "Found it to be just a really fun concept. Very creative. And, the visuals—the way it’s shot and the chemistry of the actors just really impressed me. It’s really fun. And in its own way, very current and very today, but it felt a lot to me like The Bionic Woman which is what attracted me to want...
