- Rolf Thiele was born on March 7, 1918 in Prödlitz, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary [now in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic]. He was a director and producer, known for Rosemary (1958), Friederike von Barring (1956) and Wälsungenblut (1965). He died on October 9, 1994 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
- German producer-director of the 1950's and 60's, best known for El Hakim (1957) and the controversial "Skandalfilm" Rosemary (1958). With Hans Abich, Thiele set up the Filmaufbau GmbH in 1946, serving as its head of production. Much of their later output consisted of erotic potboilers, interspersed with such occasional literary adaptations as Thomas Mann's Tonio Kröger (1964).
