- Chester Thompson was born on December 11, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He is an actor, known for The Who's Tommy, the Amazing Journey (1993), Genesis: Man on the Corner (1982) and Phil Collins: I Wish It Would Rain Down (1990).
- The well known touring & assistant drummer of Phil Collins
- Was not the original touring drummer for Genesis. Bill Bruford played drums for the 1976 tour when Phil Collins took over vocals full time. Chester joined Genesis as their touring drummer in 1977 and has played in every tour since except "Calling All Stations" in 1998.
- In addition to playing drums with Genesis front-man Phil Collins, Chester also played drums for Genesis Member Tony Banks and toured with former Genesis member Steve Hackett.

- Is a faculty member at Belmont University, primarily teaching drum lessons and directing a jazz ensemble.
- Not to be confused with keyboardist Chester Thompson who is known for his work with Tower of Power (1973-1983) and Santana (1983-2009). However, drummer Chester C. Thompson did play with Santana for a short time in 1984 and is credited on the "Beyond Appearances" album along with keyboardist Chester D. Thompson.
