Actor-director-writer David Field plans to pen a biography of his great mate Bill Hunter.
Field revealed his plans on Facebook, prompting numerous offers of help from colleagues and friends of the much-loved actor who died in 2011, aged 71.
Close buddies for more than 25 years, Hunter and Field often discussed co-writing a book but never got around to it.

Field first met Hunter, whose credits include Newsfront, Gallipoli, Strictly Ballroom, Muriel's Wedding, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, Road to Nhill, Crackerjack, The Pacific and The Cup, at the Belvoir Theatre.
They worked together twice, in Laurie McInnes. 1993 black-and-white drama Broken Highway and in Alkinos Tsilimidos.s 2004 film Tom White, which starred Colin Friels as an architect whose life unravels after a nervous breakdown.

Actor-turned-director Nick Barkla has completed his first project, documentary Inside Fighter, and is developing a feature drama and another doco.
Inside Fighter follows Australian pro boxer Frank LoPorto, who was 33 when he had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight Wba world light middleweight champion Austin Trout in El Paso, Texas.
Given just five weeks to prepare for the championship bout as a replacement for a boxer who broke his hand, LoPorto was beaten badly, causing him shame and embarrassment.
The 50-minute film will have its world premiere at the St Tropez Antipodes Film Festival next week after Barkla scored an invite from the festival.s president Bernard Bories, whom he met at Miff this year.
Film Victoria funded the development of the screenplay but Barkla funded 90% of the production from his own pockets.
He.s just sent a copy to the ABC, which gave him a letter of interest early on,...

SYDNEY -- With a record-breaking 15 nominations, "Somersault" leads the pack in the run-up to the 46th Australian Film Institute Awards. The debut feature from writer-director Cate Shortland and producer Anthony Anderson that stars Abbie Cornish and Sam Worthington was nominated for awards including for film, director, cinematography, editing, music, sound, screenplay, production and costume design as well as for actor, supporting actor and supporting actress. "Somersault", the story of a young girl learning to discern the difference between sex and love, was Australia's only entry at this year's Festival de Cannes, where it screened in Un Certain Regard "Tom White", Alkinos Tsilimidos' dark tale of a man's breakdown and ultimate homelessness, received 12 nominations, including for film, director and best actor for Colin Friels. The independently financed dance film "One Perfect Day" came away with eight nominations, including actor, actress, cinematography and editing. Jan Sardi and Jane Scott's "Love's Brother" secured six noms, including film and director.
