Twardy started his musical career as well-known jazz pianist, working with famous bandleaders such as Charly Tabor, Fred Bunge, Joe Wick and Kurt Edelhagen.
With his recording of the title Geisterreiter (= Riders in the Sky/Columbia), composed by Stan Jones, he and his orchestra reached number 21 in the German single charts on May 6, 1961.
In 1958 he started working for Cologne based producers Kurt Feltz and Hans Bertram, primarily as composer and arranger, and became highly successful with his work for Roy Black and Chris Roberts.
In his later career he founded and managed his own publishing company Eppy Music and worked for television productions like Musik Ist Trumpf.
