Dutch outfit Dfw International is to begin sales at the European Film Market on drama Broken, based on the book When I Saw You by Isa Hoes.
It tells of the relationship between Hoes and Antonie Kamerling, a well-known actor and singer in the Netherlands who suffered from severe depression and who died in 2010.
The film, directed by Ben Verbong and starring Egbert-Jan Weeber and Noortje Herlaar, will be released in the Netherlands by Dfw’s parent company Dutch FilmWorks on 100 screens in early March.

The big winners during the body’s latest round of funding were the drama series The Life and Laura H., as well as Saskia Diesing and Ben Verbong’s new fiction features. During the first round of the 2021 Netherlands Film Production Incentive, contributions were made to 21 new productions, for a total of €5.9 million. The new supported projects include 12 fiction features, five documentary features, two drama series and two documentary series, including nine international co-productions. These contributions are set to generate over €24 million in production expenditure in the Netherlands. The grant of the biggest magnitude was bestowed upon Giancarlo Sanchez’s 8x50 drama series The Life, staged by Topkapi TV, and penned by Chris Westendorp, Ashar Medina and Wander Theunis. Lionsgate has acquired U.S.-Canada and U.K. rights on the Tele Munchen Group pic The von Trapp Family – A Life of Music. The film directed by Dutch filmmaker Ben Verbong takes a different angle on the Sound of Music story the entire world knows and loves. 23 year old British actress Eliza Bennett leads the cast as Agathe, starring with Matthew Macfadyen as her father Georg von Trapp alongside an international cast, whilst Vanessa Redgrave plays the older Agathe.
