From sharing repugnance towards Wbd’s handling of Turner Classic Movies to blasting Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of Napoleon, Brian Cox has never bothered filtering his opinions. Recently, while sharing his distaste for Ridley Scott’s Napoleon, the Succession star stressed that Phoenix was terrible in the role, claiming he’d done a better job as France’s first emperor.
However, his criticisms weren’t limited to Scott’s historical epic, as the actor also took shots at one of Mel Gibson’s most acclaimed works to date, which scored five Oscar wins, including Best Picture.

These days it’s somewhat difficult to fathom there was a time when Leonardo DiCaprio was not recognized as one of the finest actors of his generation. Born with preternaturally good looks, talent, and an obvious degree of taste, DiCaprio has grown onscreen from precocious child actor to heartthrob, to movie star, and finally to revered leading man. At least onscreen.
With that meteoric career-trajectory beginning at the remarkably early age of 18 in the movie This Boy’s Life, DiCaprio has had the rare opportunity to carefully curate and shape his career from virtually the beginning, and in the process has left behind a body of work that is increasingly choosey—and well chosen. But which are the best performances, and which are the ones that didn’t work out? Read on to find out.

Mel Gibson's "Braveheart," a loose biography of the 13th century Scottish revolutionary William Wallace, was released in 1995 to much critical laud, with many critics and fans alike praising its dynamic, bloodied look at Scottish history. Actual historians, meanwhile, had a collective aneurysm over how inaccurate screenwriter Randall Wallace's view of history was. Screenwriter Wallace (no relation to William) took many of his cues from a 1488 poem called "The Wallace," written by Blind Harry. "The Wallace" was already an exaggeration of history, and subsequent poems and tales about William Wallace tended to expand the myth rather than seek accuracy. The inaccuracies and historical fudging committed by "Braveheart" is a matter of public record, and Wallace has said that the Blind Harry poem "spoke to [his] heart" more than it was accurate.

The resolution was first introduced last year on July 20 and sought to also recognize the everyday heroes across the 50 states who came to the aid of others during the Covid pandemic.

Giannetto De Rossi tragically, has left us, as a result of the same plague that has cut short the lives of many. He leaves behind a mammoth filmography which, with roughly 163 films, contains plenty of contradictions and surprises and further outlines the career of a true independent, a bona fide iconoclast, and the third generation of a family to leave a lasting mark on the film industry, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Camillo De Rossi, considered by many historians Italy’s first make-up artist, and his father, Alberto De Rossi. Giannetto, however, will be the first De Rossi to delve deep into the world of practical special effects, and his legacy lives on in the work of one of his two daughters, Lorella. To truly put into perspective the incredibly multi-faceted career of this giant, let us briefly go through a handful of the many diverse directors he...

In a move months in the making, Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions has officially hired WME partner Kimberly Bialek as new Executive Vice President of Development and Production, reporting to Seven Bucks’ President of Production, Hiram Garcia.
Bialek exited the agency after 16 years there as a lit agent and partner, though it has long been known she would land at Seven Bucks Productions, whose principals she worked closely with. She also worked with clients that included Henry Cavill, Robert Zemeckis, Anthony & Joe Russo, Randall Wallace, and Allan Loeb. Any movie based on a beloved book with a massive built-in audience that made over $600 million at the box office would instantly have the studio heads rubbing their hands in glee with dollar signs in their eyes and franchise potential on their minds, but you wouldn’t have thought those rules would apply to the Bible.
Never mind the fact that there’s only one book to mine for source material, but Jesus’ arc seemed to have a pretty definitive ending. That being said, faith-based movies have always done respectable business among the target demographic, and Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ was the biggest of them all after pulling in the kind of numbers that a $100 million action blockbuster would kill for.

Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ 2 will probably be his biggest project yet, but what can we expect to see from the long-awaited sequel?
2004’s The Passion of the Christ managed to instigate a lot of buzz and controversy, not to mention gross more than $600 million at the box office against a budget of $30 million. By every definition of the word, the movie was a hit. And yet, it’s taken more than 15 years for Mel Gibson to finally produce and direct a sequel. The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection, as the name suggests, will delve into the mystery and phenomenon of the Resurrection and what Christ had to endure to come back from the dead.

Work continues on Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ 2, and if the words of its writer are any indication, the film will be even more epic than we originally thought.
After more than 16 years, Gibson is still developing his sequel to The Passion of the Christ. The original movie, which showed the final hours of Jesus’ life and crucifixion, became a heated topic of debate for many years after its release. The excessive violence in depicting torture, an alleged anti-semitic agenda, and the movie’s allusion to Biblical accuracy all fanned the flames of controversy. Not that Gibson cared much about any of them, mind you. Now, after working his way to popularity again with Hacksaw Ridge, the director wishes to tackle several fundamental Christian notions like Hell and the fall of Angels in the sequel.
While we know that the follow-up has all the makings of a big project,...

Once upon a time, there was an unwritten rule that studios would not make biopics about people who were still alive. Since a few years back, however, starting with movies like The Theory of Everything (2014) and Southside With You (2016), which cover the lives of Stephen Hawking and the Obamas, respectively, respect for the living was officially thrown out the window in exchange for good old fashioned monetary gain.
Now, however, Hollywood may have discovered a new low when it comes to biopics. Making a movie that’s trying to finalize the life of a person who’s still breathing is one thing, but what about following up your biopic with, well, another biopic?
Although actor-director Mel Gibson has reportedly been thinking about doing a sequel to 2004’s infamous The Passion of the Christ, the current state of the project was for long a total mystery. Following a recent interview with the film’s screenwriter,...

There have been countless literary adaptations over the years that have done huge business at the box office and gone on to spawn franchises, but it would be fair to say that a lot of people weren’t expecting the Bible to be one of them.
Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ was a global phenomenon when it was released back in 2004, and went on to earn over $610 million worldwide, with seemingly every member of the movie’s target audience heading out to the theater to see it on the big screen. Even sixteen years later, it remains the seventh highest-grossing R-rated movie ever made behind only Joker, both Deadpool flicks, The Matrix Reloaded, It and Logan, all of which were studio blockbusters with massive built-in appeal. That speaks volumes about how certain projects specifically targeted to a certain demographic can bring people out in droves, regardless of genre or content.

In papers filed with the federal court in the central district of California, Wallace says he owns the trademark rights to the names “Wheelhouse” and “Wheelhouse Entertainment” and has used the names in connection with the production of his own entertainment content, including “Braveheart,” “Pearl Harbor,” “The Man in the Iron Mask” and as the director of “We Were Soldiers” and “Secretariat.” He also said in the filing that people frequently confuse Montgomery’s company with his own and that Montgomery’s Wheelhouse is aware of Wallace but refused to comply with requests to cease using the name.

Dwayne Johnson is teaming up with director Robert Zemeckis to produce an epic film that will revolve around the legendary Hawaiian King Kamehameha, who will be played by Johnson. The film is so big, it's said to be compared to Mel Gibson's Braveheart, and that might be because the script for the film was written by Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace. For those of you not familiar with King Kamehameha, here's a little history lesson:

It sure does look like we’re going close to Jesus’ resurrection. At least on film.
While it’s been common knowledge that actor/director Mel Gibson has been attempting to crack the code on the follow-up to the absolutely massive “The Passion of the Christ,” there hasn’t been much news about it in recent months. Last we heard, Gibson had begun working with “Heaven is for Real” writer/director Randall Wallace on a script for what will be called “The Resurrection.” Spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen ‘The Passion:’ Jesus dies, but then he’s supposed to come back.

Mel Gibson is moving forward with his sequel to The Passion of The Christ and Jim Caviezel has told USA Today that he is in talks to reprise his role of Jesus in the film. The film is said to tell the story of Christ's resurrection and according to the actor, the film will "shock audiences" and be the "biggest film in history." He said:
"There are things that I cannot say that will shock the audience. It’s great. Stay tuned. I won’t tell you how he’s going to go about it. But I’ll tell you this much, the film he’s going to do is going to be the biggest film in history. It’s that good."

This hype is of biblical proportions. In late August of 2016, filmmaker and actor Mel Gibson confirmed what many fans of his monster hit “The Passion of the Christ” had long been expecting: “The Resurrection” is coming. At the time, Gibson told evangelist Greg Laurie that the long-gestating project was “a huge undertaking” for him and screenwriter Randall Wallace, adding that it’s “not the ‘Passion 2.'”
As he explained, “It’s called ‘The Resurrection.’ Of course, that’s a very big subject and it needs to be looked at because we don’t want to just do a simple rendering of it — you know, read what happened.”
During that chat, Gibson also told Laurie that there were no firm plans for the film’s production schedule, but it appears that might have changed in a major way.

It’s been a decade since we’ve had a film from world famous director Mel Gibson. Sure, he’s acted in a few films in the past five years or so, but we’ve been deprived of his directorial talents ever since Apocalypto hit the big screen in 2006. Gibson may have said some very controversial things, but there’s no denying his talent behind the camera.
Luckily for us, we’ll be getting our Mel Gibson fix very soon in the form of Hacksaw Ridge, the story about the who won the Medal of Honor in World War II without firing a single weapon. But, it doesn’t sound like we’ll have to wait another decade or so before his next film. We’ve already heard plenty of rumblings about a potential sequel to Passion of the Christ, one of the most successful faith-based films ever produced.
