He trained as an engineer and was for some time employed by Siemens in Berlin. Weih subsequently became a cabaret performer, and, from 1927, appeared regularly on stage. He was also a prolific supporting actor and occasional singer in films, often employed as comedy relief and later in Heimatfilms of the 1950's.
