"You know that I really only love you." Strand Releasing has debuted a new trailer for a 4K re-release of The Doom Generation, a classic Gregg Araki film from the 90s. It first premiered at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival, celebrating its 28th anniversary this year. It was also in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival line-up this year as one of their "From the Vault" offerings. Jordan White & Amy Blue, two troubled teens, pick up an adolescent drifter, Xavier Red. Together, the threesome embark on a sex-and-violence-filled journey through an America of psychos & quickie marts. Starring James Duval, Rose McGowan, & Johnathon Schaech. The Doom Generation, restored in 4K with scenes edited for it's theatrical release in 1995, this version reflects the Director's Cut intended by Araki. It has been completely re-timed / re-edited for today's technological standards. The sound is also remastered in a new 5.1 mix. Araki's films are a bit of an acquired taste,...

While Gregg Araki hasn’t made a feature film in nearly a decade, since 2014’s White Bird in a Blizzard, the director has kept busy on a number of high-profile TV series. Now, he’s revisiting one of his earlier cult classics with the second entry into his “Teen Apocalypse Trilogy,” 1995’s The Doom Generation. Restored in 4K as well as retimed and remastered in a new 5.1 mix, this new version also features scenes that were cut out of the theatrical release nearly thirty years ago. Following the restoration’s premiere at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it’ll now get a theatrical release from Strand Releasing starting April 7 at IFC Center and the new trailer has landed.

Indie filmmaker Gregg Araki’s wild, violent, and erotic “The Doom Generation” has been mostly available on middling DVD releases and occasional repertory prints since its radical release in 1995. Araki’s fifth feature film and the second in his Teen Apocalypse Trilogy — bookended by “Totally Fucked Up” and “Nowhere” — “The Doom Generation” will soon re-open in 4K thanks to a new restoration. Watch the new trailer, an IndieWire exclusive, below.
In Araki’s chaotic road trip nightmare, headed home after a wild night at a Los Angeles club, young lovers Jordan White (James Duval) and Amy Blue (Rose McGowan) pick up a dangerously handsome drifter named Xavier Red (Johnathon Schaech). Jordan doesn’t see a problem with offering Xavier a quick ride, but his acid-tongued girlfriend thinks he’s a creep. When Xavier inadvertently kills a convenience store clerk, they are forced to go on the run, traversing a bizarre and ultra-violent America.

‘90s queer teen cinema at it’s best to kick of Pride Month! Gregg Araki’s The Doom Generation (1995) is an intelligent and satirical look at American youth culture and its relationship with the media. It’s one hell of a journey into oblivion – pure teen angst on speed. With an excellent debut performance from Rose McGowan. Araki takes viewers on a voyage into mayhem. Announced at San Diego Comic-Con during the X-Men panel, Marvel revealed their plans for the upcoming mini-series titled, “Longshot Saves the Marvel Universe” due to arrive in November 2013. Written by Christopher Hastings and illustrated by Jacopo Camagni, the upcoming series will feature Longshot stepping out on his own after leaving Jamie Madrox’s X-Factor squad where he finds himself the target of S.H.I.E.L.D., an all-new villain who appears to be hunting down those with good luck, and some “all-powerful cosmic entities.”
“Longshot seems to have stretched his luck a bit too far, and set off a very, very unlucky chain of events that he feels responsible for fixing. Unlikely heroes are the most exciting heroes! It has been incredibly fun for me to start with the biggest most terrible threat for Longshot to face down and *then* figure out a way for him to realistically handle it.

It has been incredibly fun for me to start with the biggest most terrible threat for Longshot to face down and *then* figure out a way for him to realistically handle it. Well, as realistically as superhero stories get, anyway. There are plenty of very cool moments in the series, but I must say the way he saves the day at the end of the second issue is particularly badass. (And I don't feel like I'm bragging, because it was editor Jordan White who suggested it to me.) But I'm sorry, I cannot spoil it. You have to read it to enjoy it in full." With Hugh Jackman's The Wolverine gearing up for a July screen debut and the massive crossover event X-Men: Days of Future Past in production for a 2014 debut, the mutants are proceeding with their cinematic evolution.
And there's plenty afoot in the comic books too. Marvel very much had X-Men on its mind when it gathered the troops at Chicago convention C2E2 2013 to lay out the mutants' path in the printed world.
Kicked off by moderator Arune Singh, the panel featured editors: Tom Brevoort, Jordan White and C.B. Cebulski (also Marvel's talent scout) as well as the writer and artist talents of Rick Remender, Paul Cornell, Brian Wood, Declan Shalvey, Ramon Perez and Jordie Bellaire.
First up was not an X-title but a book that included X-Men in its cast, Uncanny Avengers, which would be dealing with the rise of the Apocalypse Twins and their newly christened Four Horsemen: Sentry,...

Felicia Day's Geek and Sundry channel will celebrate its one year anniversary on April 1st, and the YouTube Original Channel dedicated to nerd culture is celebrating with a new slate of programming. In addition to returning existing favorites, three new shows based around video games will be launched. The two returning shows are Space Janitors, the sci-fi comedy created by Geoff Lapaire of Pure Pwnage, and TableTop, where Wil Wheaton invites notable nerdy people onto his show for some board game action. Season two had better feature a round of Carcassonne, or else. To spice up the new season, Day and Wheaton are launching International Tabletop Day, a global event dedicated to analog gaming. Three debutant series will join the two returnees, with video games taking center stage. Felicia's Ark will see Day and her viewers choosing which video game animals to take aboard her ark, thus saving them from impending doom.

I’ve been a fan of Reilly Brown’s artwork since I first came across it in Marvel’s Cable & Deadpool, and have been following it off and on ever since. There are a lot of artists I like out there, but Reilly is consistently a favorite of mine – his characters’ expressions and the way his drawings capture the energy and emotion of whatever’s happening on the page really appeal to me. I also consider him among the pioneers of the digital comics medium. One of his current projects, Power Play, is a digital comic that was the first effective use of the medium that I had ever seen. To pull from my thoughts when I reviewed the Power Play preview in 2011:
“This is the kind of thing I geek out about, because it excites me to see the potential of the medium being explored to enhance the reading experience.

The Doom Generation
Stars: James Duval, Rose McGowan, Johnathon Schaech, Cress Williams, Dustin Nguyen, Parker Posey | Written and Directed by Greg Araki
The Doom Generation, it’s a film for the nineties and arguably of the nineties. A no holds barred teen road trip of sex and violence, well mostly sex with a little violence in there to shock you and make you wonder what the hell is going on. That’s the thing about The Doom Generation, you’ll watch it and wonder where the story is, it’s there but it’s a mess.
Basically The Doom Generation is about two teenagers who have problems in the sex department. We have Amy Blue, she wants it and she’s had it quite a lot. Her young boyfriend Jordan White wants to give it to her but quite a few times he messes that part up. Things are made...

A trio go on a crime spree.
A quintessentially Nineties slice of nihilism from indie auteur Greg Araki, The Doom Generation plays like a cross between the angry day-glo excesses of Natural Born Killers and the drugged-up philosophy of Richard Linklater's Slacker.
In the small hours, foul-mouthed teen Amy Blue (Rose McGowan, in her first major screen role) and her slow-witted boyfriend Jordan White (James Duval) meet a stranger getting beaten up in a car park. He gets in their car for safety. He turns out to be the violent,...

The '90s were a good time to be a teen -- especially if you were itching for more than just the mainstream. Nestled between the John Hughes '80s and the bubbly Disney '00s, the '90s were a time when teen films thrived in tunes-led rebellion. It wasn't all about spunky mainstream music marketing and bubbly personalities. Scores and strangeness got to go a little wild, and Gregg Araki ran with that idea when he made The Doom Generation.
Dubbed Araki's "heterosexual movie," the film starred then-newcomer Rose McGowan as Amy Blue, a tough-as-nails, filthy-mouthed, self-proclaimed virgin in love with one Jordan White (James Duval). Their rather mundane lives are thrown through the ringer when they help out a strange boy named Xavier (Johnathan Schaech), who leads them through an insane road trip of unintended violence. A trip, mind you, that showcases a slew of names from...
