“Good Girls” is getting an Arabic version, marking the first international adaptation of the Universal Television show about three moms embarking on a life of crime.
Titled “Lunch Box,” the Arabic “Good Girls” redo features Egyptian stars Ghada Adel, Jamila Awad and Fadwa Abed in the main roles as three women — two sisters and their friend — who, faced with sudden economic hardship, decide to pull an unlikely heist. Just like in the U.S. original, starring Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Retta, they presume this will improve their lives, only to find themselves spiraling deeper into the criminal world.
Egyptian actors Ahmed Wafik, Hesham Ismail and rapper-actor Shahin also star.
The 30-episode “Lunch Box” is being produced by NBCUniversal Formats, which is part of Universal International Studios, and Dubai-and Cairo-based production company S Productions. “Lunch Box” marks their second collaboration after previously teaming up on the Arabic adaptation of comedy...

“Good Girls” has been canceled after four seasons at NBC, Variety has learned.
The drama series was the last remaining question mark in NBC’s scripted lineup from the 2020-2021 season. The broadcaster also recently axed the dramas “Manifest,” “Debris,” and “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.” Like “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” and “Manifest,” there had been talks about finding “Good Girls” a new home on a streaming platform, but that move ultimately did not work financially.
There are five episodes remaining of “Good Girls” Season 4, with the show airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. Et. In the season, the Secret Service closes in the main characters’ counterfeit ring. Beth (Christina Hendricks) was struggling to carve out her own criminal path separate from Rio (Manny Montana), using her husband’s spa company, Boland Bubbles, as a front. Ruby (Retta) seemed to have salvaged her marriage after a rocky road, but only time will...

Good Girls’ crime spree is coming to an end.
NBC has canceled the drama starring Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman after four seasons. The show will end after the network airs its five remaining episodes between now and July.
The hope was that the network and the studio could find a way to return for one more season to close out the story, but they were unable to make the financials work. A contingency plan to move the show to Netflix also did not pan out.
The series will not be shopped elsewhere by studio Universal Television, despite being a decent draw on Netflix, topping its streaming ratings earlier this year.
It marks 4-for-4 cancellations for NBC bubble shows; the network canceled Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and Manifest earlier this month, while Debris was canceled at the end of May.

NBC, Fox, ABC and CBS all unveiled their Fall 2021 TV schedules at this week’s “upfront” presentations to advertisers – conducted virtually, due to the pandemic – showing of which new series will be added to lineups and which old favorites are returning. This also meant revealing the broadcast TV shows that won’t be making it back for the 2021-2022 season in the process.
But then there are the straggler series, the ones that networks have yet to make a decision on, even though their slates are set. The reasons behind why a show has yet to be renewed or canceled this late in the season vary, with consideration given to how many episodes it has left to air and headaches over contract negotiations.
Plus, there is the pandemic-related factors to consider.

Exclusive: Wme’s TV lit agent and partner Matt Solo is transitioning to management and has joined 3 Arts Entertainment. He is one of the first big-name Wme agents to land a new job following the recent cuts at Wme.
With dozens of senior agents in play, top management companies like 3 Arts have been approached by a number of Wme-ers looking to go into management over the past several weeks. 3 Arts traditionally has been very selective about bringing agents as managers, which requires a different skillset. Over the past 25+ years, only 1-2 former agents have joined the management-production company.

The massive popularity of horror films like Joker and It have been a real downer for happy, family clowns. Mark Wilding hears how the entertainers are fighting back

NBC has ordered three additional episodes of Good Girls, expanding the upcoming midseason run of the drama series from creator Jenna Bans to 16 episodes. Like The Good Place, Good Girls has been a digital success for NBC and sibling Universal TV, which produces the series. In its second season, the show broke its series record for best seven-day non-linear viewership with virtually each new episode, doubling its digital delivery versus Season 1, which led to an early Season 3 renewal.
In digital viewership among adults 18-49, Good Girls surged +115% in Season 2 versus Season 1. Scandal, Season 4, Episode 9, “Where the Sun Don’t Shine”
Written by Mark Wilding
Directed by Tony Goldwyn
Airs Thursdays at 9pm Est on ABC
On this week’s Scandal, Olivia confronts both of her parents, Cyrus quits the White House, Jakes hunts down Rowan, Quinn reunites with an old lover, and Huck delivers the truth to his ex-girlfriend.
Scandal has always excelled at finales, so it’s no surprise that “Where the Sun Don’t Shine” is just as fun, twist-y, and shocking as it’s predecessors. Also, it’s obvious from the opening sequence that all actors, and director Tony Goldwyn (Fitz)!, are bringing their A-game.
As introduced last week, the biggest dilemma facing the characters in the episode is Rowan. Poor Olivia, she’s easily winning the Worst Parents of the Year award. As awful as the Popes are, both to their daughter and to other people, it...

Scandal, Season 3, Episode 18, “The Price of Free and Fair Elections”
Written by Shonda Rhimes and Mark Wilding
Directed by Tom Verica
Airs Thursdays at 10pm Est on ABC
On this week’s Scandal, Fitz loses a son but wins an election, Olivia and Jake abandon D.C., Mellie’s secret is revealed, and Rowan Pope turns out to be the season’s biggest bad.
Though this season’s had some pretty wild ups (everything involving Rowan Pope) and downs (the Quinn, Huck, and Charlie love triangle), “The Price of Free and Fair Elections” closes season three on a relatively high note–literally, as Olivia Pope, who hasn’t been wholly herself in quite a while, finally takes up her father’s season opening offer and jets out of the city with Jake. Her choosing to flee the city is the final disappointment in a season full of them; it’s...

Jim Rash can do no wrong. From his impeccable five-year performance as the Dean on "Community" to his Angelina Jolie-inspired, perfectly-timed pose at the 2013 Academy Awards, to an astute parody of "True Detective" with buddy Joel McHale, the Oscar-winning screenwriter is charming to the nth degree on and off camera. As the host of SundanceTV's "The Writers' Room," he effortlessly pushes for insights from some of the most in-demand writers out there -- and often gets them. While the mood is light during the Q&A session, the entertainment value is high thanks to well-chosen guests, intuitive features, and, of course, its amiable host. The second season kicks off Friday, April 18th with the creator, lead actress, and writers of ABC's hit late night soap opera, "Scandal" (a well-timed episode considering the show's season finale airs Thursday night). Creator Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, and writers Mark Wilding, Jenna Bans,...

Scandal, Season 3, Episode 8, “Vermont is for Lovers, Too”
Written by Mark Wilding
Directed by Ava Duvernay
Airs Thursdays at 10Pm Et on ABC
On this week’s Scandal, Olivia and Fitz rekindle their affair in Vermont, Mellie and Cyrus manipulate James, Josie bows out of the election, and Huck discovers Quinn’s new connection to B613.
After last week’s devastating Mellie-centric episode, “Vermont is for Lovers, Too” is a bit of a cooldown, emotionally. Too bad Mellie’s immediately reduced to the status of scorned wife again, even after last week’s controversial rape storyline, making it that much harder to be on Fitz and Olivia’s side. It’s awful to watch Mellie approach Fitz–knowing full well that a) he’s cheating on her again with Olivia and b) he’s also lying to her about it, again–and tell him they should ask her back on Fitz’s campaign.

And now that we know actress Khandi Alexander will be playing Maya Lewis in the show's present day timeline, ETonline caught up with the actress to talk about the incredibly secretive casting process, what she's excited for audiences to see in this week's episode, titled Vermont is for Lovers, Too, and what it's -- maybe -- like to work with Kerry Washington!
ETonline: Not to use a bad pun, but your casting on this show was like the mother of all secrets – what was the casting process like?
Khandi Alexander: Mark Wilding, the executive producer, called me and he said, "I can't tell you anything about her, but you are...

TVLine’s Times Square office this week was paid a visit by no less than the President of the United States — or, at least, Tony Goldwyn of ABC’s Scandal, who previewed Season 1′s penultimate episode (airing tonight at 10/9c), in which we learn through much-anticipated flashbacks how White House hopeful Fitzgerald Grant’s path first crossed with that of Olivia Pope. (Let’s just say the young fixer’s opening line is a real winner.)
Goldwyn also weighs in on his chemistry with series lead Kerry Washington, hails his chief of staff and hints at a surprise or two still to come.

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.
Here is ABC’s full schedule along with a description of all of their shows. Go through them below and let us know what TV series you’re most excited about seeing.

There's a lot of anticipation among fans for Thursday's (Feb. 3) episode of "Grey's Anatomy." After all, we've had to wait two weeks after Callie (played by Sara Ramirez) told Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) that she's pregnant and with Mark's (Eric Dane) child.
So, one would think that Kevin McKidd (who plays Owen) would feel some of that, as well. After all, Thursday's episode marks the actors first time ever sitting in the director's chair. But, he says the worst is behind him.
"I don't feel the pressure now," McKidd tells Zap2it. "Because there's nothing we can do about it. It's in the can and it's been cut and the picture is locked. I felt a lot of pressure in December while we were shooting and in January when I was editing it. But, no, weirdly I don't feel any pressure now [laughs]. The ship has sailed as they say."

Shonda Rhimes, at the ripe young age of 39, must be one of the most powerful black women in television, next to the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks. Actually, maybe not just one of the most powerful black women in television, but one of the most powerful women – race irrelevant.
I don’t know of many other male or female creator/producers with 2 (and now possibly 5) television series on major networks – successful series I should add.
Of course, in Rhimes’ case, I’m referring to Grey’s Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice, both housed at ABC Networks.
Apparently, she’s has a 3 other series in development, also for ABC.
Variety states that, not only is Rhimes beefing up the top brass at her production company, she’s in the middle of a multi-year deal with the network, with several other projects in development – specifically, a marriage-oriented drama title Year to Year,...

20th Century Fox has acquired Mark Legan and Mark Wilding's pitch Family Time for low- to mid-six figures. The story is described as a family time-travel adventure, similar in tone to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Tom Jacobson is producing, while Monnie Wills is shepherding the project for Jacobson's shingle. Fox's Debbie Liebling is overseeing the project for the studio. Jacobson's Paramount Pictures-based shingle has several projects in development around town, including the oil thriller Black Monday, based on a Bob Reiss novel, at Paramount.

The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is venturing into the world of politics with a drama project for NBC. The 20th Century Fox TV project, which has received a script commitment with penalty from the network, centers on a freshman Connecticut congressman obsessed with power and explores sex, politics and backroom dealings in Washington. "It's a comic, caustic one-hour look at what we fear Washington politics is really like as oppose to what we'd like it to be," Ryan said. Ryan will create the show with Mark Wilding (the WB Network's Charmed), and both will executive produce. The project reunites Ryan with NBC entertainment president Kevin Reilly, who developed The Shield when he was entertainment president of FX. In addition to the NBC project, Ryan is developing a military-themed drama with David Mamet, which has received a put pilot commitment from CBS (HR 8/24). Ryan and Wilding are repped by ICM.
