At long last, a worthy digital transfer has been granted the rather grim and horrific Tenderness of the Wolves, an obscure title from the extensive universe of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, here serving as producer. The fourth title assembled under Fassbinder’s production company Tango-Film, Ulli Lommel takes on directorial duty for what stands as the his most notable title. But Lommel’s contributions take a back seat to leading star and screenwriter Kurt Raab. Both members of Fassbinder’s extensive cinematic troupe, having starred in 1969’s Love is Colder Than Death, along with several future affiliations, the film’s production history proves to have its own potent elements dictating the final memorable outcome.
Padded out with a ton of notable Fassbinder faces, it’s a wonder this title isn’t more well-known, even as a cult favorite. But its explicit homosexual content, derided as harmful and negative at the time,...

The catalyst behind Ulli Lommel's perverse horror masterpiece might be writer-actor-art director Kurt Raab. He's almost too convincing as Fritz Haarmann, an infamous real-life serial killer of young men who masks his abominable activities behind a snitch relationship with the police. "Dallas Buyers Club" is looks likely to win the Best Makeup and Hairstyling Oscar, not least because AMPAS members might feel happier checking that off than "Bad Grandpa" or "The Lone Ranger." Get ready to hear Mel Brooks drop about half a dozen F-bombs on Jerry Seinfeld.
On this week's episode of "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee," we can finally see Seinfeld have dinner in Carl Reiner's living room with comedy legend Mel Brooks as he described in an interview back in August. What we weren't expecting to see was 86-year-old Brooks giving Seinfeld an expletive-filled tongue-lashing about why he canceled his hit show "Seinfeld" prematurely.
Seinfeld has said before that he pulled the plug on the show at the height of its popularity to prevent it from fizzling out, but Brooks is obviously still furious with him for ending it. Back when Rob Reiner was directing movies like The Princess Bride, Misery, When Harry Met Sally... and A Few Good Men, it was amazing not just because he was producing instant classic after instant classic, but also because he was beholden to no genre. Such has not been the case for the most recent stretch of Reiner's career, however. For the last decade the filmmaker has made only dramedies, with most of them containing some element of romance. It's been hard watching a once great director get stuck in such a deep rut, but now it seems he is finally ready to emerge. Just a few days after it was announced that Reiner will be playing Leonardo DiCaprio's dad in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, THR is reporting that the director is now attached to direct the new thriller You Belong To Me. Rob Reiner hasn’t made a thriller (or, arguably, thrilling movie) since 1994′s A Few Good Men — unless you, personally, want to make some (any) kind of case for Ghosts of Mississippi — and, since the latter, he’s dealt exclusively in the department of romantic comedies or nostalgia pieces. While that’s all well and good for his generally nonrestrictive, easy-going career, a change of pace and return to the Misery days is in store.
THR has learned that, on his next outing, Reiner will tackle a Cape Fear-like psychological piece titled You Belong to Me. Despite that quick comparison, however, he’s only doing this film because, in the director’s own words, “it’s hard to find a story that he hasn’t seen before.” What places this apart from the competition? Both “a deep psychological bent” and, of course, “a big twist” that snuck up and floored him,...

Just how this role might be “key,” I don’t know, but I figure the parental influence of someone whose son committed financial fraud, cheated on his wives, and ingested plenty of drugs all the while was… not terrific. (Or, maybe — and, more interestingly — that’s the kind of life he wanted for his son. I’d hope not, though.) If Terrence Winter is as smart as I think, the scenes between these two should not only be engaging, but also have some strong thematic echoes throughout the rest of Wall Street.

Well, if Martin Scorsese is looking to throw off any expectations people might have about his upcoming "The Wolf Of Street," he's doing a pretty good job. It's been a bit of an odd bunch assembled for the movie thus far, but apparently, we ain't seen nothing yet.
Rob Reiner will make his first big screen appearance in nearly a decade (he last appeared in "Alex & Emma" which he also directed) playing Leonardo DiCaprio's father Max in the film. Uh, okay then. While the film, penned by Terence Winter, tells the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wheeling and dealing New York stockbroker who sees his career and personal life fall into shambles thanks to sex, drugs and alcohol, but is this going to be a more lighthearted movie than we previously thought? With Reiner joined by guys like Jonah Hill and Jean Dujardin, we're beginning to wonder...

hollywoodnews.com: George Clooney and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black likely have crossed paths on the awards circuit as they help promote “The Descendants” and “J. Edgar,” respectively. Now they’re preparing to collaborate on “8,” a stage play chronicling the recent federal court case meant overturn Proposition 8.
The play will have a one-night, West Coast premiere in Los Angeles at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre on March 3, THR reports.
It’s a bold stance taken by Clooney in support of marriage equality.
“It is astonishing that gay and lesbian Americans are still treated as second-class citizens,” the Oscar winner said. “I am confident that, very soon, the laws of this nation will reflect the basic truth that gay and lesbian people — like all human beings — are born equal in dignity and rights.”
“8” was staged in New York City in September, with Morgan Freeman, Ellen Barkin, John Lithgow and Bradley Whitford in the ensemble.

Last year’s Flipped proved to be something of a minor critical comeback for Rob Reiner, a man that went the prior decade without making a single movie to earn any favors outside of box office. Next year will see the release of Summer at Dog Dave’s, but an upcoming project sounds like it could generate a little more attention, which Flipped didn’t even really manage. According to THR, Reiner will helm a film concerning California’s controversial Proposition 8, which rendered gay marriage illegal in the state of California.
There are many different shapes this project could take, though he explained that this “is based a little bit on the court challenge to Proposition 8.” In addition to being a large supporter and member of the anti-Prop 8 movement, the director “recently participated in a one-night celebrity reading in New York of 8, a play that Dustin Lance Black wrote based on the trial transcripts.

Ben Schwartz is likely going to be a name that you hear a lot in coming years. Much like Donald Glover before him, Schwartz has created a following for himself online, crafting some truly brilliant sketches. He's already begun making his way into the film world with Peep World, in which he has a lead role alongside Michael C. Hall, Sarah Silverman and Rainn Wilson, and now he's been handed his first feature writing assignment. THR reports that Paramount has launched plans to remake Soapdish and have hired Schwartz to write the script. The original, which starred the likes of Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey Jr., Elisabeth Shue, Whoopie Goldberg and Teri Hatcher, tells the story behind the scenes of a soap opera and the plans of an actress to try and get rid of the star. Alan Greisman and Rob Reiner will produce the remake. Schwartz's writing credits...

The unassuming acoustic duo Raffa & Rainer are back in their hometown of Miami this weekend to play a few sets for their original fans. Fresh from gigs in the Big Apple, Raffa Jo Harris and Rainer Davies will bring their unique blend of low-key rock to three Miami venues before rocketing off again.
"My darling Miami... I'm thrilled to be welcomed back into your warm, rainy, sticky, perfect embrace," Raffa told fans on Facebook.
Thursday evening, the pair will play at Smoke't in Coral Gables; a favored venue for University of Miami students who attend classes across the street. The show, "Raffa & Rainer Come Home" is more than just a return to their physical birthplaces, the band actually got its roots at the Um music program where the two Floridians learned their trade.
Saturday, Raffa & Rainer will hit Sweat Records in downtown Miami. Sweat Records is a perfect indie backdrop...

Annette Bening has signed on to star in Rob Reiner’s next picture The Third Act following on from her sublime, Oscar nominated performance in The Kids Are All Right. Joining her in what we are guessing will be a rom-com/dramedy will be the ever popular Morgan Freeman and we can probably assume from the working title that the “Third Act” will investigate the final chapter of love in the lives of the film’s two stars.
Director Rob Reiner had the following to say when taking about the project to Showbiz 411′s Leah Sydney at the Aarp Dinner:
“I’m working on a film the title of it now is now called “The Third Act”-it looks like we’ll have Morgan Freeman and Annette Bening in it together. I don’t want to tell you more about it because we haven’t even started shooting yet. You...

Director Rob Reiner is taking heat for comments he made on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, evoking the name Hitler while discussing the Tea Party. As you see in the clip below, the conversation starts with Reiner and Maher agreeing that there has never been an election cycle with more ignorance than this one (which Maher joked was good for his show). “You never get into a political discussion unless you bring the word ‘Hitler’ in. You have to have ‘Hitler,’ so let’s put ‘Hitler’ out there. Here’s ‘Hitler,’” Reiner said, as Maher and the audience laughed.

Hollywoodnews.com: Rob Reiner has had an up-and-down year.
His latest, “Flipped,” flopped. It shouldn’t have, by any stretch. It was a sweet, sentimental, harmless but enjoyable love story that parents could have taken their teenagers do. They didn’t. The movie made $1.7 million, and never really got a proper release. It’s Reiner’s lowest-grossing picture to date.
Then last week, the director turns up on “30 Rock” and reminds us that he’s funny … particularly in sitcom form.
Now we’re learning that Reiner will be honored next weekend by the Malibu Film Society, which will present him with a “Malibu Filmmaker of the Year’” trophy on Oct. 24, with a presentation at the Malibu Screening Room. Reiner’s father, Carl, is expected to make the evening’s opening remarks. A screening of “Flipped” will conclude the evening.

Anvil band member Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner will be stopping by "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" on Tuesday, October 6. The two will discuss their documentary "Anvil! The Story of Anvil."
Guitarist Kudlow and drummer Reiner will perform their song "Metal On Metal" and then sit down with O'Brien to chat about the film. Anvil began as a band 30 years ago and released one of the heaviest albums in metal history in 1982 called "Metal on Metal." The documentary shows the band's last ditch quest for fame and fortune that has eluded them in the past.
"I am so nervous about doing the show," said Kudlow. "This is big, the biggest thing we have ever done on TV. I almost cried when my mom said she might not be able to stay up that late to watch it, so we're going to tape it for her. We can't wait to meet Conan,...
