Tagline: "They Don't Care If You Don't Believe." A concept poster was released last week for Camp Cold Brook. It shows a supernatural element, at a remote cabin. Andy Palmer will direct this feature. And, Camp Cold Brook involves a failing television show. The producers head out to a nearby lake, where young campers drowned years ago. Big mistake. As well, the film features: Chad Michael Murray (House of Wax, 2005) and Danielle Harris (Hatchet III). Joe Dante (Gremlins, 1984) will produce, along with his production company - Renfield Productions. A look ahead at this ghostly feature is hosted here. From the synopsis, producer Jack Wilson (Murray) is desperate to increase his show's ratings. Fearing cancellation, Wilson drags a television crew out to the legendary Camp Cold Brook. Camp Cold Brook is an underwater graveyard. Here, several campers were unable to escape the waters. Now, it is Wilson's turn to sink or swim.

With Nicholas Ray’s first film, “They Live By Night” recently restored by the Criterion Collection – after the company did a remarkable job with his “Bigger Than Life” and “In a Lonely Pace” – and “Johnny Guitar” set to get it’s streaming debut this weekend on Hulu (July 1), it’s a good time to review the career of one of Hollywood’s greatest mavericks.
Unlike most legendary auteurs, Ray’s career is incredibly uneven. He was a square peg trying to fit into the cylinder of Hollywood, but completely unwilling to round his sharp corners. It wasn’t that his style couldn’t adapt to Hollywood, as his mastery of storytelling through the use of space, composition and performance was readymade for the studio era. However, his uncompromising view of life and the existential struggle of his characters never fit neatly in stories with a clear resolution. His ability to...

Overbearing coaches. A kid who missed the crucial shot. A brutal locker room attack.
Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 11 began with a disturbing look into middle school hockey that led down a path to something even worse.
By the end of the hour, a 13-year-old was dead, his best friend was headed to juvenile detention for his death, and an older teenager had been beaten to a pulp.
Worse still, the central question of who was to blame for this tragedy was never really answered satisfactorily.
"Great Expectations" didn't go at all the way I thought it would, but the disturbing image of Adam Turner's injuries is forever seared into my brain, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
This story could have gone in many directions. At first, it seemed like a stereotypical story about kids being pushed too hard to excel at sports...
