Law & Order Svu‘s Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler have been shipped together for years, now. Mariska Hargitay has been fielding questions about the two characters coming together almost since the show’s inception. But lately, she’s grown more fascinated with another kind of shipping.
Mariska Hargitay reveals the kind of ‘shipping’ she wants ‘Law & Order Svu’ fans to really focus on Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay | Eric Liebowitz/Getty Images
Hargitay and Meloni’s characters have been involved in a sort of ‘will they, won’t they’ sub-plot for decades. At one point, this pairing seemed unlikely. Meloni’s Stabler was married with kids, then Meloni would leave the show entirely. This allowed Hargitay’s Benson to explore other romantic interests in the show, which had been rarely touched on before.
Benson’s love interests seldom worked out, however, and the character is still single and married to her work in Svu.

NBC has revealed its complete schedule for this fall, and it looks like there’ll be a buffet of offerings available to fans of the network, including the return of some fan-favorite dramas, sports, and some new series debuting in the autumn. Joining the returning shows this fall will be the Zachary Quinto-led medical drama Brilliant Minds, the mockumentary series St. Denis Medical, and Reba McEntire‘s new sitcom Happy’s Place. Meanwhile, Dick Wolf‘s procedurals, One Chicago and the Law & Orders, will return to their tried-and-true schedule spots, with one major change: Noticeably absent from the lineup is Law & Order: Organized Crime, which has been renewed for Season 5 … but at Peacock as a streaming-only drama. Elsewhere in NBC’s upcoming plans, the network will host a behind-the-scenes special about Wicked with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande called Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked on Nov. 25; they...

Law & Order fans won’t be seeing Lt. Kate Dixon in Season 24. Camryn Manheim is leaving the NBC procedural after three seasons, Variety confirmed. The upcoming Season 23 finale, airing on May 16, will be Manheim’s final episode. “I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order,” creator Dick Wolf said in a statement to Variety. “She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.” Manheim recently spoke to TV Insider and hoped to return for Season 24. “I really hope so. This is one of my most favorite jobs and what will they do without me?” she said with a laugh. “She’s the one who bosses everybody around!” The Emmy winner joined Law & Order, which just celebrated its 500th episode, when it was revived in 2021. She had previously appeared in episodes of the NBC crime drama as different characters.

Law & Order is losing another veteran actor.
The NBC drama will bid farewell to star Camryn Manheim on May 16, the season 23 finale. The actress was a key part of the cast when Dick Wolf revived the flagship procedural for its 21st season.
Manheim becomes the second star to depart L&o this season with her upcoming exit coming on the heels of original star Sam Waterston, who exited in February as D.A. Jack McCoy. He had appeared in more than 400 episodes of the flagship series and returned to lead the revival that remains a high priority for both Wolf and NBC.
To fill the void created by Waterston’s exit, L&o recruited former Scandal favorite Tony Goldwyn to be the show’s new D.A. and join a cast that also includes Hugh Dancy, Reid Scott, Mechad Brooks and Odelya Halevi.

It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. It brought Meloni back to the world of Law & Order in 2021, via a two-part crossover with...

“Law & Order: Organized Crime” has been renewed for Season 5, with the show now officially set to move from NBC to Peacock.
The news comes after weeks of speculation that the show would make the jump to the streaming service from the broadcast network. The Season 4 finale will air on NBC on May 16 and stream the next day on Peacock.
Moving “Law & Order: Oc” to Peacock is not altogether surprising. The show has lagged behind fellow Dick Wolf series “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Svu,” and the three “Chicago” shows at NBC while still maintaining solid viewership. It also reportedly does very well on Peacock, particularly given its more serialized storylines, a departure from Wolf’s typical procedural format.
It was also the last Dick Wolf broadcast show awaiting word on its fate for next season. The other two “Law & Order” shows and all three “Chicago” shows were renewed back in March.

It’s a done deal — NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime starring Christopher Meloni has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be streaming exclusively on Peacock. As Deadline previously reported, Season 5 is expected to consist of 10 episodes, less than what the Wolf Entertainment series produced for NBC under normal circumstances but on the high end of an original streaming series whose seasons typically consist of 8 episodes. John Shiban is returning as showrunner.
The move gives the NBCUniversal streamer an original Dick Wolf drama series to go with the Wolf library and next-day runs of the company’s remaining NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, which are among the platform’s most viewed titles.

Meloni and Hargitay were aware of their chemistry the moment they met. The two formed a quick bond with each other even before doing their screentest. One of their first memories together was Meloni making Hargitay laugh by telling her a story. Their bond was only solidified after auditioning together, which would create a friendship that would last for decades.
“I walked in, saw him, and I went, ‘That guy. That’s the guy.’ It went deep, very fast. We both knew that it was something big,” Hargitay told People not too long ago.

No matter how many devastating deaths and sad exits Chicago Fire has had in its 12 seasons, the most impactful will forever be Lauren German's Leslie Shay.
Though there was much discussion and speculation about whether it was a wise decision to kill off her character so early in the show, the Chicago Fire brass was going for an emotional twist. And that's what Shay's death will always be remembered for.
Luckily for Lauren German, her career didn't end up buried like her character's. In fact, it only skyrocketed higher than ever when she left Dick Wolf's procedural and began looking for other opportunities.
Lauren German Filmography
Now best known as Detective Chloe Decker from Fox's Lucifer, where she starred opposite Tom Ellis, who portrayed the titular character, the actress is hardly known for her role on Chicago Fire. However, she has more titles to be proud of in her career.

Sound the alarm — Chicago Fire is hitting 250 episodes. The firefighter drama that kicked off Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise on NBC back in 2012 is still going strong in Season 12. In a Today interview from 2021 — when Chicago Fire was celebrating its 200th episode — star Taylor Kinney attributed the show’s success to the “sense of family” and the “chemistry of the cast” that Wolf, an executive producer, helped cultivate. “People see the way we get along,” he said. “It’s a tight-knit group.” But which episodes are the best of the best? It's hard to imagine Law & Order: Special Victims Unit without Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni's Elliot Stabler. Whether they work together or not, the early seasons of the show built a strong foundation not only for their working partnership, but also for a complicated interpersonal dynamic.

The character has changed Hargitay’s life in more ways than one, giving her the kind of acting career she strived to achieve for decades. Then Olivia Benson would go on to motivate Hargitay’s activism, inspiring her to create the Joyful Heart Foundation. Joyful Heart would go on to help real victims of sexual and domestic abuse, allowing Hargitay to personally reach real-life people who needed help.

The Skydance Media deal for National Amusements appears to be dead, with the company declining to extend its exclusive negotiating window, and sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that controlling shareholder Shari Redstone is cool on the $26 billion offer from Sony Pictures and Apollo Global Management — a deal that would lead to the breakup of the empire her father built. While it is possible that Paramount’s independent board committee believes that regulatory concerns presented by the Apollo-Sony offer can be overlooked and recommends that deal, it looks like an increasingly challenged proposition.
For the foreseeable future, it appears, the company is in the hands of the three-man committee made up of CBS chief George Cheeks, Paramount Pictures’ Brian Robbins and Chris McCarthy, head of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. Paramount stock dropped 7 percent to $12.89 at the close in the wake of the news.

Mariska Hargitay’s Powerless Moment Against Dick Wolf’s Decision Mariska Hargitay, admired for her long-standing role as Olivia Benson and as an executive producer on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, faced a situation where even her considerable influence couldn’t sway a significant decision. Despite her efforts and continued advocacy, she was unable to prevent the departure of her co-star Kelli Giddish, who portrayed Det. Amanda Rollins. I had conversations with Dick , and Kelli also had them, and obviously we all wanted her to stay, Hargitay said, highlighting the extensive, yet unsuccessful attempts to keep Giddish on the show. The impresario behind the Law & Order franchise, Dick Wolf, once threatened to fire Svu star Mariska Hargitay when she cut her hair, according to Variety. He also told her there’s no crying in TV. But after 25 seasons of Svu, Hargitay told the trade mag, “He makes me stronger,” while acknowledging their working relationship has been “ugly at times.”

When a little girl can’t find her mother in a pocket park in New York City, she inexplicably runs crying straight into the arms of Mariska Hargitay. Though Hargitay’s in the middle of shooting a scene from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” she doesn’t hesitate. She scoops up the child and begins circling the playground looking for the missing mom.
She doesn’t stop to think about the cast and crew, all of whom are waiting at the other end of the park, hoping to finish the scene before the sunlight reappears from behind the clouds.
Hargitay isn’t NYPD Capt. Olivia Benson, but after portraying her for 25 years on the NBC procedural, their names, and some of their qualities, are synonymous. Benson’s compassion radiates from Hargitay. It’s evident from the moment we meet: Just one day on the set of “Law & Order: Svu,...

CBS has been reeling fans in with dramas for over 50 years now, and it doesn't look like the network has any plans to stop.
The network really has something for everybody in its repertoire, whether you're looking for someone quirky and spooky like The Twilight Zone or want a procedural with dramatic flair like NCIS.
There are decades of dramas to be accounted for, but we're going to focus on some of the more recent dramas on CBS.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch CBS classics like Murder, She Wrote, Gunsmoke, Dallas, The Twlight Zone, and more.
When you're not catching up on older CBS classics, here's what we recommend watching for a more modern setting.

Law & Order Svu did a lot for Ice-t’s acting career when casting him on the show way back in 1999. But it was a good thing Ice-t was cast in his more mature years. If he was approached for the show when he was younger, he might’ve turned it down.

Ice-t is one of Svu‘s veterans, having been a part of the show from the beginning. Acting wasn’t anything new to Ice-t when he was first approached for the project. But the series’ creator Dick Wolf was concerned Ice-t would have issues with playing a police officer.
“When Dick Wolf put me on the show, he said, ‘Ice, you don’t like the cops, do you?’ I said, ‘Not all of ‘em. I ain’t got problems. Some of ‘em are cool.

On April 11, CBS saved S.W.A.T. from cancellation, for the second time no less.
This reprieve came after three characters had already been written out this season. And additional exits may be coming, as it was hinted that Commander Hicks might be departing to take care of his ailing lover on S.W.A.T. Season 7 Episode 9.
So, who exactly will be in the 20 Squad returning for S.W.A.T. Season 8? Hondo, Powell, the new guy who replaced Street, and who else?
Ah, well, that's a problem for the series' showrunner and writers this summer. At least salaries for lesser-known actors should be less of a bite on the budget.
One side effect of this surprise rescue of S.W.A.T. is that Blue Bloods fans want their show, now in its 14th and supposedly final season, saved as well.
First off, let's remember it's a bad time to be a scripted network series. Just ask fans of Station 19, The Good Doctor,...

The newest ‘Law & Order’ spin-off has seen consistently better ratings on Peacock than on linear NBC to this point.
Eliot Stabler is coming back for at least one more ride. The popular character portrayed for 25 years by actor Christopher Meloni is the star of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the latest member of the franchise originated by Dick Wolf. “Organized Crime” was stuck in limbo while waiting to find out if it would be renewed for a fifth season or not, but it appears that NBCUniversal has finally made a decision. Updated May 9: Peacock has confirmed the show’s move from NBC and noted that John Shiban will return as showrunner.
Previous: NBC’s loss is Peacock’s gain — again.
Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Peacock is putting the finishing touches on a deal that would see Law & Order: Organized Crime move from NBC to the streamer for a fifth season consisting of 10 episodes.
Reps for Peacock, NBC, producers Universal Television and executive producer Dick Wolf declined to comment, as a deal has yet to officially close.
Marking a return to the L&o world for franchise favorite Chris Meloni, Organized Crime has overperformed on Peacock with the streamer serving as the streaming home for all things Dick Wolf. Once the deal is formalized, Peacock will now have a Wolf original series to go with next-day episodes of NBC’s already renewed L&o flagship as well as Svu.

Has FBI: International found a replacement for Luke Kleintank’s Scott Forrester?
The hit CBS procedural has cast Chicago Med alum Colin Donnell in a guest-starring role.
People first reported the news, but in true Dick Wolf series fashion, details about who Donnell will be playing are being kept firmly under wraps.
We know that the Arrow alum will appear in the final two episodes of FBI: International Season 3.
Kleintank is set to depart before these two episodes, so we don’t think Donnell’s character will be involved in Forrester’s last storyline.
“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International,” Kleintank said this week.

The NBCUniversal streamer continues to make small, but steady climbs in its quest for streaming survival.
Comcast’s flagship streaming service Peacock has been on a slow but steady climb since launching in 2020. While still amongst the smaller platforms from major media companies, it is no longer an easily ignored also-ran, seemingly fighting for scraps as the streaming world threatened to leave it behind. The new creature feature from Universal will stream on Peacock, but how long will it take to arrive?
We’re only halfway to Halloween 2024, but Universal Studios isn’t reserving all of its horror films for Spooky Season. Its latest scary movie is titled simply “Abigail,” but fans will be jumping out of their seats plenty often when the movie debuts in theaters on Friday, April 19, despite the short moniker.
“Abigail” has compiled an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics so far. As a Universal film, “Abigail” will stream on Peacock when it leaves theaters. Universal horror releases like “The Black Phone” and “M3GAN” suggest it won’t take long for “Abigail” to stream on Peacock, but more recent releases tell a different tale.
