Raymond Benson and Peter Janson-Smith in Krakow.
By Raymond Benson
Peter Janson-Smith passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the age of 93. He was a giant in the world of British publishing, a major figure in that arena for nearly seventy years. Serious James Bond fans will know him as Ian Fleming’s literary agent, the man who spearheaded the exploitation of Fleming’s 007 novels around the world from 1956 until Peter’s retirement in 2002.
On a personal level, Peter’s death is a great loss. For me, he was a mentor, a friend, a teacher, and someone I called my “English dad.” He was instrumental in the research for my 1984 book, The James Bond Bedside Companion, and he hired me to write the continuation James Bond novels in the mid-90s. In short, I owe much of my career to him.

Saturday's episode of The X Factor was full of high-emotions, doppelgangers and a dose of nastiness too.
Though it was rather Techno Susan-less, there were still other highlights to enjoy. Here is a round-up of the evening's best reactions from the Twittersphere:
It was the first night of the Biggest battle of the TV calendar:

With Leicester City about to embark on a brand new Premier League season, fans will be hoping a repeat of their famous ‘Great Escape’ is not required for them to stay up. However, the Foxes need some crucial signings in order to bolster their already depleted team.
A season of consolidation within the top-flight of English football would be greatly welcomed by fans of the Midlands club with a lucrative television deal coming into play in a year’s time. But, relegation for Leicester under Claudio Ranieri would be catastrophic after all the hard-work and success achieved by former manager Nigel Pearson.
So with seemingly generous resources provided by Leicester City’s Thai owners, the club surely have the power to attract some considerable talent to the King Power Stadium. Following the departures of Esteban Cambiasso, Ben Hamer and Chris Wood and the long-term injury sustained by Matty James,...

Source: Facebook user Christopher Wood There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, the plane that went missing on March 8, but as the search continues, stories about the flight's passengers are beginning to surface. The names of three American citizens are on the manifest released by the airline, and there's the possibility that a fourth passenger, an infant, may also be a Us citizen. Among that group, 51-year-old Philip Wood is the only adult American on board, and Philip's family has spoken out to say they're holding out hope for his survival. Christopher, Philip's 20-year-old son, said, "Until we have a definitive answer on his whereabouts and those of the plane and its passengers, we will refuse to believe that my father has passed away. He is and always will be a member of our family and, most importantly, my father, and I wouldn't give up hope so easily.

Bastille drummer Chris Wood will take a break from touring the world to become a football pundit for the day on BBC Radio Devon.
Wood, a lifelong Plymouth Argyle fan, will enter the commentary box on Saturday (February 22) to cover Plymouth's league match with Dagenham and Redbridge.
He'll be joined on commentary by BBC Devon regular Gordon Sparks.
Wood said: "Having grown up going to Argyle with my family since I was a young boy, I jumped at the chance to get involved with the team and the broadcasting legend that is Sir Gordon Sparks. This will be a dream come true."
Commentator Sparks said: "I have been fortunate enough to have managers and players (including internationals) alongside me, but it will be a first to have someone from the world of entertainment - especially given the popularity of Bastille."
"Being an Argyle fan is a bonus. I'm sure Woody will fit in well.

Leicester face another Midland rival on Tuesday night as Nigel Pearson takes his table topping side to St Andrews to face Lee Clark’s Birmingham City.
The Foxes sit eight points clear at the top of the Championship, although Queens Park Rangers and Burnley do have a game in hand.
The Blues will be looking to steer away from the dreaded relegation zone with a win. However, a combination of failure to pick up three points and other results going against them could see them sit just one point above the drop zone.
Team News
Birmingham will be without Paul Robinson, who is suspended due to picking up ten yellow cards this season. Loanee Kyle Bartley is expected to take his place.
Midfielder Tom Adeyemi could start after missing the last month with a back injury.

Looking masculine and robust in a gray shirt, skinny blue pants and brown worker’s shoes, Chris played alongside the “Bridge to Terabithia” actress, towering an entire foot over her!

Taking care of her daily duties, AnnaSophia Robb headed over to the New York City set of “The Carrie Diaries” on Thursday afternoon (September 5).
Joined by her hunky costar Chris Wood, the “Bridge to Terabithia” babe looked sexy in an orange animal print dress as she filmed scenes outdoors.
As for the introduction of Lindsey Gort as Samantha, Ms. Robb told press, “I think [Samantha] will be [a bad influence on Carrie].”
“Season Two is already starting out to be a bit more risque, but it’s still a lot of fun. Lindsey Gort plays the new Samantha and she’s awesome. Boys will always be involved. They’re going to be getting into mischief throughout the city and sort of figuring out their friendship, getting to know each other and their different backgrounds.”...

We’re not sure if it’s a thing, but ‘Sebarries’ (Sebastian and Carrie shippers) can rejoice! Austin Butler tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that he ‘feels really bad’ for betraying Carrie last season, and he’ll try to make it up to her as much as possible. Keep reading for all the details!
Season one of The Carrie Diares ended rather dramatically. In case you don’t remember, Sebastian (Austin Butler) cheated on Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) by hooking up with her Bff Maggie (Katie Findlay). Thankfully, Austin tells us that Sebastian is “trying to make it up to her as much as possible.”

Fans may be ready to welcome Samantha Jones back to their TV screens with open arms next season, but she may cause trouble for Carrie as they’ll be getting into a bit of ‘mischief throughout the city,’ AnnaSophia Robb told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
The second season of The Carrie Diaries will feature new friendships, new adventures and sexy new boys, as evidenced by the photo of AnnaSophia Robb kissing newcomer Chris Wood on set Aug. 20. And thanks to her newfound relationship with Samantha Jones (Lindsey Gort), Carrie will be getting into a lot of “mischief.”
‘The Carrie Diaries’ Season 2: Carrie Will Be ‘More Risque,’ Says AnnaSophia Robb

Things aren't looking promising for any romantic reunions between young Carrie Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) and Sebastian Kydd (Austin Butler) on Season 2 of "The Carrie Diaries."
Even though Sebastian cheated on Carrie with her best friend in the Season 1 finale, fans of the "Sex and the City" prequel series were still holding out hope that the two would find some way to get back together. But two recent pieces of casting news are making it pretty obvious that this won't be the case.
First, we already know that Molly Sims is set to woo Sebastian as a cougar named Vicky ... and we know he loves the older ladies (he was expelled from his previous school because he slept with one of his teachers). As if that wasn't already enough to deter Carrie from taking Sebastian back, Season 2 just cast relative newcomer Chris Wood as a big love interest for Carrie, TVLine reports.

Tony Mowbray will be disappointed to see his side come out without any points after a dominant first half display.
The Boro Boss kept with the same starting eleven that saw his side stroll to a 2-1 friendly win over French Cup winners Bordeaux.
The game saw Middlesbrough’s new acquisitions Dean Whitehead and Jozsef Varga make their full league debuts.
The Teessiders started the brighter; Lukas Jutkiewicz latching onto a Grant Leadbitter flick on. But the former Everton trainee dragged his shot wide of Kasper Schmeichel’s far post.
The Boro continued to dominate, Leadbitter finding Jutkiewicz once again, lurking on the edge of the six yard box. However his shot was once again no trouble for the Leicester keeper.
Jonathan Woodgate almost doubled his goal tally for Boro, his header from a Mustapha Carayol cross went agonisingly over the crossbar.
Leicester boss Nigel Pearson started ushering his players forward,...

One of today’s big moves saw the finalisation of a deal for Wallace, an 18-year-old right-back moving from Fluminense to Chelsea. The Blues are loaning the Brazillian back to his former club until the end of the season. He went for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £5m. This deal – like many others that went through today – had been agreed in the last month or so, but could only be ratified once the window was open.
Staying in London, former Chelsea and Tottenham goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini announced yesterday that he has agreed to end his 13-year stay in the Premier League and head to David Beckham’s old haunt, La Galaxy, on a free transfer.
The other big December mover to the Premier League was Daniel Carrico, a versatile midfielder and former captain of Sporting Lisbon. The 24-year-old – who also can play at centre-back – is...

December is a month that increasingly sees few releases of new albums, so the closer this list gets to the present day, the fewer albums of importance there are to discuss, and most of those are hip-hop albums.

Traffic: Mr. Fantasy Aka Heaven Is in Your Mind (Island)
Shortly after Steve Winwood quit the Spencer Davis Group (of which he was the lead singer and organist), he formed Traffic with some guys he'd jammed with at a club in Birmingham: guitarist/vocalist Dave Mason, saxophonist/flutist Chris Wood, and drummer/lyricist Jim Capaldi. After a couple of hit singles, they convened at a country cottage and put together the debut album by Traffic, titled Mr. Fantasy in their native country. By the time it was released, Mason had already quit.
The English and American editions were rather different. Not only did the U.S. LP (on United Artists) have...

With 23 Bond films now in the can, and Skyfall about to be released to cinemas, it is about time to reflect on where the franchise may go next – and while upcoming articles will explore some concrete predictions for the direction of Bond 24, this article will look backwards, as opposed to forwards for inspiration, to find the greatest Bond stories not yet told on screen.
Though most of Ian Fleming’s Bond stories have now been adapted, there remain a couple that were not in whole, and there are a number of the continuation works, written by Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks and Jeffery Deaver which have not yet been referenced or chosen outright for adaptation. And though some will invariably turn their nose up at the suggestion that some of the best Bond stories didn’t come from the pen of the spy’s creator,...

Epa Drummer Billy Martin at the Jazz Festival of San Sebastian in July.
The jazz-funk trio, Medeski Martin & Wood have been together for over 20 years. To celebrate the career milestone, the group — made up of John Medeski on keyboards, Billy Martin on drums and Chris Wood on bass — has decided this would be a good year to work harder than ever.
Since March, the trio has put out two never-released tracks every month exclusively online as part of their “20” project.

On September 1st, a man named James Lee entered the Discovery Channel Headquarters in Silver Spring, Md. He was holding a gun and wearing a backpack filled with explosives. For the next four hours, Lee held three men hostage while he ranted and raved about his anger at the channel, and about his political views.
Today on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Oprah talked with two of the hostages -- co-workers Jim McNulty and Chris Wood -- as they related their escape from the life-or-death situation. (The third hostage, the security guard who was on duty that day, elected not to appear on the show.) Chris discussed his decision to flee the building after lying on the floor for hours. "I mouthed to the guard, and I said 'Run,' and he shook his head yes."
Unfortunately, that's when things got a bit more complicated.
