Presenting two real-life stories from my days of yore, although names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.
Story The First:
I knew a girl in high school – I wouldn’t say we were friends, but she was someone who had never participated in the Piggy horrors. Sally was an A+ student, on the track to an Ivy League school. Pretty (but not gorgeous) and popular (but quiet about it), she came to me one day and said that she needed to talk to me privately. I was surprised… and a bit suspicious. What did she want? But because Sally had never been overtly mean to me, even though she was part of the clique that instigated most of the callous cruelties upon me, and because I still hoped to be “accepted,” and I wanted to believe for some reason she was about to warn me...

The pre-production feature film Facing East released a Kickstarter Campaign today Wednesday November 14, 2012. Facing East is directed by Tony nominated Broadway actor Will Swenson Hair, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and is written by noted queer cinema veteran Guinevere Turner Go Fish, American Psycho, The Notorious Bettie Page from an off-Broadway play by author Carol Lynn Pearson author of the books Goodbye I Love You and No More Goodbyes, and produced by Duane Andersen, James Duke Mason and Emily Pearson. The campaign offers unique rewards targeted at fans of Mr. Swenson and his wife, five time Tony winner, Audra McDonald, including autographed memorabilia, the opportunity to have lunch with the couple, or to have Ms. McDonald sing to you over the phone on your birthday, or to have Mr. Swenson serenade you publicly.

Red Flag Releasing, a new independent distributors will open the documentary "8: The Mormon Proposition" in theaters as well as On Demand cable and digital download channels on June 18th. Reed Cowan’s documentary is narrated by Dustin Lance Black (Academy Award-winning screenwriter of "Milk") and recounts the Mormon Church's involvement in the campaign on behalf of California's Proposition 8 which banned same-sex marriage in the state. Theaters to receive the film are New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Palm Springs, Phoenix, San Diego, Dallas, Houston and Honolulu. Cowan produced with co-director Steven Greenstreet, Chris Volz and Emily Pearson for David V. Goliath Productions. Paul Federbush, Laura Kim and Ron Stein recently launched Red Flag.
