David Michael Latt, CEO and co-founder of The Asylum, which produces both Z Nation and Sharknado for Syfy, has announced on Twitter that Z Nation season 5 will be happening in 2018, and fans of the sometimes dark, sometimes lighthearted zombie thriller rejoiced.
The show has introduced a host of enjoyable characters and featured several notable guest stars, including Game Of Thrones author George R. R. Martin and rocker/actor Henry Rollins. Z Nation has had fun with the zombie genre, and the enthusiasm has paid off.
Before the announcement was made on December 15, Latt had told fans on Twitter that he had a call scheduled with Syfy that was likely to determine the fate of Z Nation. He assured everyone that he would reveal the renewal or...

Get Out director Jordan Peele is preparing to re-enter The Twilight Zone with a reboot series aimed at the CBS All Access streaming service.
According to THR, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves announced during an earnings call that the network was in the process of developing a new version of the popular 1960s sci-fi/horror anthology series created by Rod Serling. The Twilight Zone reboot would be the latest show to join CBS' slate of streaming-only programming that also includes Star Trek: Discovery, which was recently renewed for a second season.
Peele's Monkeypaw Productions is behind the show. Marco Ramirez, who recently helmed Marvel's The Defenders, will pen the script and serve as showrunner for the reboot.

It's all in the game. As the Game of Thrones TV show heads towards its eighth and final season, HBO is working like a dragon is breathing fire down its neck, in order to set up its five (as of now) potential Game of Thrones spinoffs -- specifically in the form of prequel series. Author George R. R. Martin says Bryan Cogman, who has worked his way up the ranks from script coordinator, all the way to supervising producer of the original series has boarded one of the prequels as writer and will share a co-creator credit with none other than Martin, himself. An HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen, Kit Harington, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams. The cast also includes Alfie Allen, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham,...

We have entered the winter of Game Of Thrones, with well over a year until its final season premieres and still no sight of George R. R. No doubt about it: Dragons are cool. You know it, we know it, George R. R. Martin knows it—that's why he made them a huge part of his books that inspired Game of Thrones. In the seventh season, Daenerys Targaryen's three children are bigger and deadlier than ever and and super badass—Jon Snow certainly concurs. We're taking a look back at some of the coolest dragons in pop culture. Most of the time, the fire-breathing beasts are depicted as nothing more than that; beasts meant to be slain. But in many popular films, they showcase charming personalities. We went a step further and also ranked our favorites for you. The list includes dragons from...

Game of Thrones Season Seven is breaking its own ratings records – the most recent episode, "Beyond the Wall," became the second most-watched installment in the show's history. But George R. R. Martin – who wrote the HBO fantasy-drama's prime source material, the novel series A Song of Ice and Fire – is not one of those viewers. The author recently told Metro he's too busy to watch the series due to his busy writing and touring schedule.

Not much is known about the different “Game of Thrones” spinoffs in development in HBO, though it has been confirmed that all four are prequels and will feature no existing characters. Courtesy of an IGN interview with Jane Goldman, who’s writing one of the proposed spinoffs, we now know that hers will be “recognizable as a past event” to those familiar with Westeros.

A Game of Thrones, the first book in author George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, was published on August 6, 1996. So if longtime fans' hopes that Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow would one day meet were a person, they'd be about a week away from the legal drinking age. "The Queen's Justice" – the Game of Thrones episode that served up this long-awaited meeting before Martin himself could get to it – displayed a surprising lack of romantic or interpersonal fireworks between the two monarchs.

Starz’s hit drama series “Outlander” has hewed pretty closely to Diana Gabaldon’s ongoing series of novels, leaving the show no obvious path forward beyond the eighth book, but showrunner Ronald D. Moore says there are no plans to stray from the source material yet. Famously, HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” itself based on a popular book series, outpaced its author George R. R. Martin, leaving showrunner David Benioff and D.B. Weiss no choice but to forge their own storylines. But Moore says his show doesn’t face the same problem. “I cannot imagine a scenario where we catch up with Diana Gabaldon,...

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Sunday’s Game of Thrones.
And just like that, Game of Thrones‘ promised savior seems that much more promising.
Melisandre met Daenerys in Sunday’s episode — read our full recap here — and it wasn’t long before the two formidable women started discussing the Red Priestess’ favorite subject: The Prince Who Was Promised, aka the reincarnation of legendary hero Azor Ahai. Fans of the show will recall that Melisandre used to think Stannis was the prophesied savior of mankind, but as of late (and in light of his death), she’s had second thoughts.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Game of Thrones” Season 7, Episode 2, “Stormborn.”]
Family has meant nearly everything in the world of “Game of Thrones.” The reputation of notable houses, the legacy of rulers and great men that line those history books have done as much to guide the actions of these characters as their own instincts. But after the events of “Stormborn,” that guiding principle of using the past to help shape the future looks to be as outdated as it’s ever been.
Take Aerys Targaryen, the Mad King whose very nickname casts a shadow on Westeros’ coming war, even after his successor’s successor’s successor has been wiped from the throne. In Dany’s new stronghold of Dragonstone (introduced at the top of this episode like Xanadu or some Transylvanian castle from a pre-code monster flick), Varys’ past allegiances are the first to be questioned. Dany’s short learning curve as a leader has meant a careful weeding out...

"Bad people is what I'm good at," Tyrion Lannister once boasted, and the man wasn't kidding. Over the past six years, Game of Thrones has introduced us to more outrageously bad people than any drama on television: killers, liars, tyrants and thieves. It's brought Westeros alive as a fantasy world where a conscience is a luxury nobody can afford – not even kings. HBO's epic fantasy blockbuster is gearing up for the seventh season, with the eighth and last chapter already on the horizon. That means we've got just 13 more episodes to spend in Westeros,...

In a moment of perfect timing the scorching hot weather here in the UK has had many of us wishing for winter, and winter is almost here. The new trailer for HBO’s mammoth series Game of Thrones has been released, and there’s so much to see.
HBO have packed a lot into the trailer which is just shy of two minutes. Given that we are now very far from the published work of George R. R. Martin the Throners will cast all three of their eager eyes over every frame of this new look.
Some of this we knew already. Sansa is at Winterfell, here she begins the trailer walking beneath the Weirwood trees so important to Bran’s ever-increasing power. Bran himself has graduated to a wheelchair and looks to be at The Wall. As you can see below we have this illuminating shot of Beric Dondarrion and his flaming sword which is about as hype as you can get without both Clegane brothers in the same scene. The flaming sword crops up again, with the wielder not looking like Dondarrion – so who could it be?
Dany is checking out the digs at Dragonstone (we’ve already seen her on the throne there), and Grey Worm has a moment which looks like you’ve got the taking of Casterly Rock.
This shot we love – the might of Gwendoline Christie’s Brienne contrasts so perfectly with Podrick’s stature that we can but hope for some sort of musical number to follow. Jaime and Cersei Lannister also pop up, though neither looks particularly happy.

Then there’s The Hound, Yara Greyjoy and her brother Theon, Starks of all shapes and sizes, battles galore and dragons. Oh, yes – here be dragons.
The penultimate season of Game of Thrones begins on the 17th of July, and we can’t wait. Here’s the full trailer,

With the second-to-last season of Game of Thrones set to premiere in July, HBO has shared some more details about the prequel spin-off that will follow the series' Season 8 conclusion.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, HBO president of programming Casey Bloys said, "Making Game of Thrones as good as possible is the Number One goal, and then we'll see about these [spin-off] scripts. You're not going to see a situation where the next show in the Thrones universe launches off the back of this one."

Game of Thrones‘ eighth and final season may not air until 2019, HBO programming president Casey Bloys says in a recent interview with EW.com.
The fantasy series’ showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have yet to write episodes or determine production schedules for Thrones‘ swan song, but the HBO exec won’t rule out episodes of the final run airing in 2019, telling the site that he’d have “a better sense of that once they get further into the writing.”

Who will win the face-off between White Walkers and walkers? That’s the question posed by this fun competition between Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, represented by the duelling posters that you can see above. Each of the hugely popular shows has a new season on the way, though HBO’s hit is much closer than AMC’s, and each has their own fearsome monsters, so some wag at the marketing department has now decided to pit one against the other.
In the white corner are Game of Thrones‘ otherworldly creatures from the north, the White Walkers. George R. R. Martin describes them as “hard as old bones, with flesh pale as milk.” They’re such a feared enemy that it’s necessitated the construction of a massive...

Game of Thrones may be coming to an end next year, but our obsession with Kit Harington will never die. Ahead of the highly anticipated season seven premiere in July, Kit graces the cover of Esquire's June/July issue, and just like the title of George R. R. Martin's series A Song of Ice and Fire, it's making us melt. The actor has become so well-known for his role as Jon Snow over the past six years, and even though he's ready to reinvent himself and "get away from an image that's so synonymous" with the series, he is definitely grateful for the experience. "Maybe this was the role I was always meant to play," he told the magazine. As far as life after Game of Thrones, things are still up in the air. Kit revealed that he's just taking things one step at a time as he lives...

Martin revealed that a fifth script is in development for another possible new series based on the popular fantasy drama. “We had four scripts in development when I arrived in L.A. last week, but by the time I left we had five,” Martin wrote on his LiveJournal page.

There’s still two more (shortened) seasons of “Game Of Thrones” to go, but HBO isn’t wasting a hot moment planning for the future, and trying to retain the global audience that has made the series such a phenomenon. The night is dark and full of ways to keep exploring the Game of Thrones-verse: According to book series author George R. R. Martin, HBO has five writers — not four, as previously reported — working on possible spinoffs of the premium cabler’s fantasy drama.
“We had four scripts in development when I arrived in L.A. last week, but by the time I left we had five,” Martin wrote in a blog post Sunday. “We have added a fifth writer to the original four.”

Even though “Game of Thrones” is ending after Season 8, that doesn’t mean that’s the end of our TV adventures in Westeros.

We've known for a while that George R. R. Martin had written letters to Marvel Comics back when he was just a wee lad. One of those letters was published in the comic books, which made it Martin's first published work. In this video from the History Channel documentary, Superheroes Decoded, he reads the letter aloud and gives his thoughts on it, saying that it changed his life.
He and many other celebrities make appearances in the documentary special. I love seeing the humble beginnings of creators like this, as well as how something like comics and their writers can be so influential. Check out the video below along with the letter that he wrote with Stan Lee's reply.
Part one of the special aired last night on Sunday, April 30, and will replay tonight on Monday, May 1, along with Part two, on the History Channel.

Everyone knows HBO’s “Game of Thrones” likes to pack a lot of plot into a little season. In fact, there are so many storylines in the hit show that some feel underdeveloped while others seem to drag on forever. But that is inevitable when creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have to truncate each roughly 700-page book by George R. R. Martin into one season.

We’ve grown quite accustomed to enjoying the first days of Spring with a new series of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Last year Season 6 of the show moved beyond the published work by George R. R. Martin and that meant book readers and show watchers were in it together. It was a heady time. Dany and her ever-growing brood of dragons finally set off for Westeros, Cersei taught Machiavelli a few things on her way to the Iron Throne and f.
With the show entering its final stretch, and two shorter season set for this year and next, we have to wait until July to see what happens next. While we wait for a trailer of substance (the previously released promo was a portentous montage of people walking…) HBO have release some equally info-absent images from the forthcoming season.

I love comics. It's my thing. I read them, study them, look deep into them. I think that everyone that writes has something they really get, whether it's games, movies, tv or just news. I feel something that I have an intensive history with is comics. Which makes me so excited about this new History Channel two-part series special all about the hidden origin stories of comics biggest heroes.
The cable network has planned to air the two-part special called Superheroes Decoded on April 30th and May 1st.
