The Who have been playing shows with orchestral musicians for the past three and a half years, and every single night has wrapped up with “Baba O’Riley.” But Friday evening at the Ubs Arena in Elmont, Long Island, they stunned their fans by remaining on the stage and ripping into “Young Man’s Blues” as an extra encore. They hadn’t played the song since a one-off in 2014, and have only done it six other times in the past 40 years.

Jenny McCarthy stands by her decision to not walk offstage in protest when Rudy Giuliani appeared on “The Masked Singer” earlier this year.
Following a poor rendition of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Giuliani was unmasked as the Jack in the Box.
McCarthy’s fellow “Masked Singer” panellists Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke stormed off while the former attorney to former president Donald Trump chatted with host Nick Cannon.

McCarthy was asked what her immediate reaction to Giuliani’s appearance was on Wednesday’s “Watch What Happens Live”, insisting, “Like everyone that gets unmasked, I [was] completely shocked.
“Everyone is in their own wheelhouse in terms of how they handle their shock. The fact it was a political figure that was polarizing to half of the country [was] hard.

Fox execs finally addressed the controversy surrounding Rudy Giuliani being cast on “The Masked Singer,” and according to Rob Wade, the president of alternative entertainment & specials at Fox Entertainment, the company has “no regrets.”
The network brass was asked about Giuliani’s casting on Monday morning during a conference call announcing the network’s new fall lineup. “Yeah, absolutely no regrets,” Wade said. “The marketing is all about delivering jaw dropping moments, which is exactly what the casting accomplished. And whether it was on set or with the viewers at home I suppose my only regret or surprise was obviously the reveal was spoiled [by the press], but kudos to you guys. Just please don’t do it again. Thanks a lot.”

Fox bosses have defended the casting of Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s former lawyer who helped spread baseless lies that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen, on The Masked Singer.
Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials, Fox Entertainment, said he had “absolutely no regrets” on the move.
“The Masked Singer is all about delivering jaw-dropping moments, which is exactly what [we] accomplished whether it was on set or with the viewers at home,” he added.
Wade joked about Deadline’s scoop on the casting. “My only regret or surprise was obviously that the reveal was spoiled but kudos to [Deadline], please just don’t do it again.
The former Mayor of New York was unmasked on the reality singing competition on April 20, months after Deadline revealed that his casting had already caused consternation among some of the show’s judging panel – particularly Ken Jeong, who immediately crossed his arms and walked off the stage.

Fox has even more costumes and tunes in store with The Masked Singer set to return for its eighth season.
On Monday the network revealed the official season 8 order for the long-running celebrity singing competition. The Masked Singer is among a number of reality series set to return in the 2022-2023 season including Crime Scene Kitchen, Next Level Chef and more.
The renewal comes as little surprise considering The Masked Singer has been a steady performer for Fox. The series consistently marks the network’s top Wednesday primetime title.
There has been talk that the eighth season of the show, which has filmed in LA, may move settings with Las Vegas touted as one possibility.

The appearance of disgraced former New York City mayor and “Borat” co-star Rudy Giuliani on “The Masked Singer” chummed the waters of late-night hosts on Thursday night. The vision of Donald Trump’s disbarred lawyer singing George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone,” was too surreal of a moment to ignore.
When the Fox reality competition revealed that the rainbow-colored chicken in a Jack in the Box was indeed the keynote speaker from the Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference, “Masked Singer” judge Ken Jeong realized that whatever they were paying him to stand there and grin wasn’t enough and walked off the set. Robin Thicke reportedly bolted, too, but did not pronounce “yeah, I’m done,” like Jeong did. Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy stayed to do some humiliating dance moves.

The show’s installment with the former mayor of New York City and former personal attorney for President Donald Trump, got a 0.6 demo rating and 3.6 million total viewers, according to fast-affiliate Nielsen data.
Viewership for Season 7 has been in flux since its March 9 premiere, with the Fox celebrity singing competition drawing a season high of 4.3 million viewers on March 30, only to reach a season low of 3.9 million last Wednesday — which was beat by last night’s new low. “The Masked Singer’s” demo has also taken a hit, going from a 1.0 with the seventh-season opener down to a 0.6 for the week-ago episode, which it matched this week.

Rudy Giuliani was finally revealed on “The Masked Singer” this week and, as was first reported back in February, judge Ken Jeong did in fact walk off the stage. And now, seeing how things actually went down, viewers are praising the move.
The former New York City mayor-turned-Trump lawyer was unmasked as the Jack in the Box, and became the first contestant eliminated from Round 3 of the competition after a rendition of George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone.”
Jeong appeared absolutely stunned when Giuliani’s face was revealed, saying nothing. The judge remained stoic as host Nick Cannon completed his typical unmasking interview, asking Giuliani why he came on the show, considering the controversy surrounding him. When Giuliani officially began his swan song, doing a short reprise of “Bad to the Bone,” Jeong could be seen saying “I’m done,” and calmly walked off stage.

The long-awaited cringe appearance of Rudy Giuliani belting out tunes on Fox’s “The Masked Singer” is finally here.
Originally reported in February, the episode April 20 that led to judge Ken Jeong walking off set. Giuliani, dressed as a Jack in the Box, was voted off in a single round elimination after his one and only performance of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood & The Destroyers.
“Oh my goodness, former Associate Attorney General, former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani!” host Nick Cannon said onstage while Giuliani took off his mask.
“Is that Robert Duvall?” judge Nicole Scherzinger asked, as Jeong clarified no, it is not at all the “Godfather” alum.
Thicke added, “This is definitely something I never would have guessed.”
Host Cannon asked why Giuliani chose to compete on the reality series, saying, “Well, Mr. Giuliani, with all of the controversy that’s surrounding you right now,...

Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer” finally unmasked Rudy Giuliani to mixed reactions from the judges.
The former New York City mayor-turned-Donald Trump lawyer, was the first contestant eliminated from Round 3 of the competition after a rendition of George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone.” He was behind the Jack in the Box costume as a member of Team Bad.
Obviously, none of the judges expected to see Giuliani on stage. Some of their guesses as to who could have been behind the mask included Robert Duvall, Elon Musk, Joe Pesci and even Al Roker.
As we already know, Giuliani’s reveal ruffled some feathers on stage. In February, media reports said that the unmasking sparked walkouts from both Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke. However, in the actual airing of the episode, both judges remained in the studio at the unmasking. Nicole Scherzinger looked unsettled by the reveal, while Jenny McCarthy seemed thrilled.

Perhaps the only gratifying thing about Rudy Giuliani’s appearance on “The Masked Singer” is that the element of surprise the show’s producers craved was ruined in advance.
Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer” saw former New York City mayor and lawyer for former President Donald Trump revealed as the Jack in the Box. Fitting his costume, the disguised Giuliani explosively popped out of his captivity to perform George Thorogood and the Destroyers’ “Bad to the Bone” after a dancer turned his crank, to squeals of delight from the show’s audience and judges. There was little suggestion of who he was — indeed, the package of hints the show provides focused on the random and tangential fact that Giuliani has performed weddings with frequency. Rudy Giuliani was finally unmasked on The Masked Singer.
“It surprises us all that you’re here on The Masked Singer,” host Nick Cannon said as Donald Trump’s former lawyer was revealed as Jack in the Box during Wednesday’s episode.
“This is definitely something I never would have guessed,” added judge Robin Thicke.
There has been much controversy surrounding Giuliani’s appearance on the Fox reality competition series after his participation was first revealed by Deadline in February.
The reaction on the show to the man who helped Trump spread his baseless claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen was an interesting one.
There were genuine gasps and looks of shock from the audience as well as a stunned Cannon when the mask came off, and judge Ken Jeong immediately crossed his arms.
Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger looked confused and asked Jeong, “Is that Robert Duvall?” a reference to Thicke’s earlier guess.

The surprise that popped out of Jack in the Box during Wednesday’s The Masked Singer wasn’t to at least one of the judges’ liking.
As reports heralded earlier this year, the contestant unmasked during this week’s episode was Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor and advisor to President Donald Trump. And when Giuliani’s mask came off at the end of the hour, the reaction from the judging panel was very mixed, with Ken Jeong watching, stonefaced, as host Nick Cannon interviewed Giuliani.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 7, Episode 7, of “The Masked Singer,” “Don’t Mask, Don’t Tell — The Good, the Bad and the Cuddly Round 3,” which aired April 20 on Fox.
Well, that happened. In what was largely an anticlimactic end to what we were all bracing for this season on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” disgraced former attorney Rudolph Giuliani showed up, sang an off-key and off-putting version of “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers and then was unmasked as the Jack in the Box.
The show’s Wednesday episode teased the Giuliani reveal as “the biggest event in ‘Masked Singer’ history” — which was perhaps true, at least until the show casts O.J. Simpson next season.
Panelist Ken Jeong was not pleased as reported: “No, that’s not Robert Duvall” (one of the top guesses), he said, arms folded and clearly appalled at the casting.

“If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it ‘Chuck Berry,’” John Lennon proclaimed on The Mike Douglas Show in 1972. “In the 1950s, a whole generation worshipped his music, and when you see him today, past and present all come together, and the message is Hail, Hail Rock and Roll.’” The two idols then kicked off into Berry’s song “Memphis, Tennessee.” Chuck Berry: The Original King Of Rock ‘N’ Roll is the first-ever feature-length documentary on the duck-walking electric guitarist and songwriter. It’s been playing, like any good rock and roll film, at special drive-in events across the country. The film will be available on VOD platforms and on Blu-ray on November 27.

Roy Head, the rocker known for his 1965 smash “Treat Her Right,” died Monday at his home in Porter, Texas, family members reported. He was 79.
“Treat Her Right” reached No. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the R&b chart in 1965; the rave-up was kept out of the top pop spot only by the Beatles’ “Yesterday.” The song was repopularized last year by Quentin Tarantino’s use of it for the credit sequence music in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” It was also featured in the 1991 film “The Commitments.”
Wood found renewed renown as the father of Sundance Head, the winner of season 11 of “The Voice.” The younger Head sang “Treat Her Right” as a duet with his coach, Blake Shelton, on an episode of the show in 2016.
Billy Gibbons of Zz Top paid tribute to Head as a “rock ’n’ soul phenomenon who had been one of our early and continuing inspirations.

James Hetfield staged his first live performance since his rehab stay, delivering an acoustic rendition of Eddie Money’s “Baby Hold On” at a tribute to the late singer on Thursday.
The Metallica singer wasn’t among the announced guests at the Tribute to Eddie Money — led by Sammy Hagar, George Thorogood, Rick Springfield, and others — at the Saban in Beverly Hills, but Hetfield used the opportunity to return to the stage for the first time since September 2019; soon after, Metallica canceled a planned Australian tour as Hetfield re-entered a rehabilitation facility.

A lot of us probably grew up hearing that customary growl and insane guitar riff as George Thorogood took the stage, and a lot of us probably tried to emulate old George since his style was rough, raw, and the kind of thing that men were thought to be back in the day. Nowadays those songs are still a classic but the feeling behind them, while it hasn’t changed, is quickly becoming less popular since a lot of his songs speak to certain themes that some folks no longer agree with. Alley Oop, the 86-year-old comic strip caveman who spawned a popular song, a TV animated cartoon series, and whose adventures once appeared in 800 newspapers, may be going extinct.
Cartoonists Jack and Carole Bender announced last month that they are retiring from creating the strip, with the last original Alley Oop appearing yesterday. Andrews McMeel Syndication, the distributor, said the strip will go into reruns through the end of the year. After that, no plans have been announced.
Alley Oop was created in 1932 as a syndicated comic by cartoonist V.T. Hamlin. The character’s name was taken from a phrase allegedly used by French gymnasts and means “let’s go.”
Originally, Oop’s world was centered around his prehistoric kingdom of Moo. But in 1939, Hamlin took it in a different direction. A time machine invented by 20th century scientist Dr. Elbert Wonmug transported Oop to modern times. Hardly phased by this abrupt shift,...

There’s been a lot of bad Terminators in the past 23 years. And not “bad Terminators” like a George Thorogood, all-the-way-through-the-muscle-tissue kind of “bad.” I mean disappointing, weak, meandering Terminators. After 1991, when cinemas everywhere were graced with Terminator 2: Judgement Day, we’ve suffered through two mostly-unnecessary sequels and a bevy of video games, comics and novels that exist as filler. Also, admittedly, a TV show that was neat but hasn’t made any lasting impression on the films. Terminator Genisys, just by existing as a Terminator movie made in the 21st century, runs a very real risk of ending up in that same pile. But if you’ve seen the trailer for Terminator Genisys that dropped last week, you may have noticed something. Terminator Genisys is trying very hard not to be associated with the crummier films in the Terminator oeuvre, Terminator Salvation and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Instead...

Tis the season of giving and we have five signed posters and blu-rays to give away from Randy Miller's flick Cbgb. The posters are signed by Johnny Galecki (Big Bang Theory), Ashley Greene (The Twilight Saga), Joel David Moore (Hatchet) and director Randy Miller.Cbgb looks at New York's dynamic punk rock scene through the lens of the ground-breaking Lower East Side club started by eccentric Hilly Kristal in 1973 originally as a home for "country, bluegrass and blues" (thus the club's name) and which showcased cutting-edge bands through its closing in 2006. The Talking Heads, Patti Smith, The Ramones, Blondie, The Dead Boys, Bad Brains, Green Day, Soul Asylum, The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Everclear, George Thorogood, The Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, The Black Crowes, The...

Welcome to a brand new season of the little show that could!
Summer hiatus was brutal, wasn’t it? Last season of Supernatural was uneven (if we’re putting it mildly) so when they (mostly) got their act together for the season finale, we were left wanting more. I mean, angels falling from the sky, Dean and Sam mending their relationship, Castiel becoming human… that’s the kind of stuff that can make a fanboy lose his mind over the summer!
Thankfully the wait is over and we’re back to a world full of back roads and motel rooms. If that sounds like a good time to you, call me. I’m sure my number’s on a bathroom stall somewhere.
The one thing I will say about our show that never falters is the soundtrack. From the moment the recap started, the music was spot on (George Thorogood...

Ever wonder how the legendary Cbgb came to be? In the new film, appropriately titled Cbgb, director Randall Miller and co-writer Jody Savin give audiences a glimpse into the world that Hilly Kristal built… a little bar that became the birthplace of American punk music.
Recently, Wamg attended a press day for the film at the famous Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, CA. Participating in the press conference were Johnny Galecki (Terry Ork), Freddy Rodriguez (Idaho), Joel David Moore (Joey Ramone), Director/Co-Writer Randy Miller, and Co-Writer Jody Savin. Check it out below. (Side note: Sorry if it is a bit shaky. I was trying out my new camera.)
