We hardly got to see what Evan DeBenedetto was made of on “So You Think You Can Dance.” He only got to perform one tap routine during the live shows, and it had to be watered down because his partner Chelsea Hough wasn’t a trained tapper. The two of them were eliminated the very next week. But judge Nigel Lythgoe knew what a missed opportunity that was, so during the season finale on September 10 he had choreographer Anthony Morigerato create a brand new tap routine for him. And he was joined by season 14 champion Lex Ishimoto. Watch their performance above.
DeBenedetto and Ishimoto performed their impressive routine to an old classic: “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing” by Mel Torme. It was an impressive performance by Ishimoto especially because his background isn’t in tap. It’s in contemporary and hip-hop. But...

So you think you can guess who won the fifteenth season of “So You Think You Can Dance?” No need. The season came to a close on Monday when Hannahlei Cabanilla was announced the winner.
Meanwhile, second place went to Jensen Arnold, third place to Genessy Castillo and Slavik Pustovoytov came in fourth.
The show celebrated the Cabanilla’s victory on Twitter, but cannily did not actually spoil who it was.
It's official — America has named it's favorite dancer!
Congratulations to every one of our contestants for all of their amazing work on this season of #Sytycd. ????????♀️???? pic.twitter.com/N7UP0yGMom
— Sytycd (@DANCEonFOX) September 11, 2018
Among the highlights from the two-hour episode was this barnstormer of a number featuring the entire top 10 Sytycd finalists stepping up to “Yummy” by Gwen Stefani and Pharrell. What the hell is with that ice cream cone, though?
Re-experience this carnival of scrumptiousness! ???????????????? #Sytycd pic.

It all came down to this. On Monday night, September 10, after America voted on the last two weeks of performances, the season 15 winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” was revealed. So who was America’s favorite dancer: Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo or Slavik Pustovoytov? Find out below in our live updating blog with all the minute-by-minute developments during the finale.
Jensen was a standout all season, and she already had name-recognition coming into the competition. Not only did she try out for the show last summer in season 14 (she was eliminated at the Academy), she’s also the little sister of “Sytycd” and “Dancing with the Stars” alum Lindsay Arnold. That kind of association could have hurt her as much as helped her — how would she compare to her sibling? — but she has actually advanced farther than Lindsay, who was eliminated in the Top 8 round in season nine.

The live shows have been unforgiving in season 15 of “So You Think You Can Dance” so far. The top 10 have been so evenly matched that all it takes is one imperfect routine to get you sent packing. Chelsea Hough and Evan DeBenedetto were eliminated after an ill-fated tap dance. And all it took to knock out Cole Mills was one unconvincing stepping number. The top six competitors dancing tonight have hardly gotten any criticism from the judges so far during the live shows, but someone still has to go home. Our users think Darius Hickman and Genessy Castillo are the two most likely to exit.
Hickman and Castillo are both contemporary dancers, but they have proven their mettle in a wide range of styles including Bollywood, hip-hop and Broadway. However, they landed in the bottom four based on America’s votes last week. The judges chose to save them from...

“So You Think You Can Dance” held its third week of live shows on Monday night, August 20. Jazz dancer Chelsea Hough and tapper Evan DeBenedetto were the first two competitors eliminated by America’s votes, which narrowed down the competition to the Top 8. How did they do in the latest live show, and how many survived the elimination to advance to next week’s show? Scroll down to find out in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
The four women who came into tonight’s show were Jensen Arnold, Hannahlei Cabanilla, Genessy Castillo and Magda Fialek. The four men still in the running were Jay Jay Dixonbey, Darius Hickman, Cole Mills and Slavik Pustovoytov. And if our fluctuating odds are any indication this season is still wide open. Going into the live shows DeBenedetto was one of the dancers are readers were most rooting for,...

Last week’s double elimination on “So You Think You Can Dance” seemed to be a relatively easy choice for the judges. Magda Fialek and Chelsea Hough were the bottom two women when viewer votes were counted up, and Cole Mills and Evan DeBenedetto were the bottom two men. The judges had been disappointed by Hough and DeBenedetto for what they felt was a lack of chemistry and for Hough’s lack of tap skills, so the judges decided to send them home and save Fialek and Mills. But will they be spared again tonight?
Our users who have made their predictions thus far are betting on Fialek to be sent home with leading odds of 8/11, which translates to a 57.25% chance of going home. The judges have had nothing but praise for her during the live shows thus far, but the same is true for the other three remaining women,...

The elimination of Chelsea Hough and Evan DeBenedetto on “So You Think You Can Dance” didn’t exactly come as a surprise. In the first live show they were criticized for both of their dances: a jazz routine where the judges felt they lacked chemistry, and a tap routine where they felt Hough was out of her depth. Our users who predicted the first elimination thought they were the likeliest two to be sent home, but most of the readers we polled still thought they got a raw deal. Scroll down for the complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
DeBenedetto was the only tap dancer who made the top 10, and he was the male dancer our readers were most rooting for coming out of the Academy. Tap is such a specialized style of dance that it’s often underrepresented on the show. And no tap dancer won...

Chelsea Hough and Evan DeBenedetto needed a chemistry lesson on “So You Think You Can Dance.” They were getting on like a house on fire during their rehearsals, but for some reason it wasn’t coming through to the judges during their live performances. But they finally found their connection in week two of the live shows when they performed a contemporary routine choreographed by Travis Wall. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late for both of them.
Hough and DeBenedetto landed in the bottom four along with Cole Mills and Magda Fialek when the results of America’s votes were revealed at the end of the show. But even though the judges were impressed by their final number, it wasn’t enough. They decided to spare Mills and Fialek from elimination and send Hough and DeBenedetto home instead. Did you agree with the judges’ decision? Watch Hough and DeBenedetto’s final duet above,...

Darius Hickman and Magda Fialek didn’t have much time to rest this week on “So You Think You Can Dance.” After performing in the opening group number they were the first up for the night’s duets. And they got the evening started with a doozy: an action-packed Bollywood routine choreographed by Nakul Dev Mahajan. The judges unanimously loved the performance, but Fialek will have to hope the viewers appreciate her more this week than they did last week.
Despite a couple of stellar routines in the first week of live shows, Fialek landed in the bottom four when results were announced at the end of the night, even though Hickman was safe. The judges saved Fialek from elimination, sending home Chelsea Hough instead, but will they save her again if she lands near the bottom next week too? Watch Hickman and Fialek’s performance above, and read the judges’ comments about it below.

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 held its second live show on Monday night, August 13. Once again the top 10 contestants performed for the judges and for America’s votes, but only 8 came out. There was a double elimination at the end of the night based on America’s vote results from last week’s show. One man and one woman exited the competition, so who were they, and did you agree with America’s picks? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments.

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 seems fairly wide open. Our users are divided eight ways when trying to predict the winner, with Cole Mills getting the slight edge going into the second live show. But our users are fairly confident about who will be eliminated. Poor Chelsea Hough is widely expected to be sent home. She gets 4/7 odds based on the combined forecasts of our users, which translates to a whopping 64.46% chance of going home. But is that fair?
In last week’s first live show the five male contestants and five female contestants were paired off. They all performed two routines, one in their own dance style and one in their partners’. Jazz dancer Hough was teamed up with Evan DeBenedetto, the only tap dancer in the top 10. That meant Hough had to learn a tap routine. But here’s the thing: no contestant has ever been...

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 started its live shows on Monday night, August 6, and since then fans have been predicting who will win this season. The race so far looks like it’s wide open, with our users split 8 ways between the 10 contestants, but the early front-runner is Cole Mills.
As of this writing Mills gets leading odds of 8/5, which translates to a 38.74% chance of prevailing at the end of the season. That’s just slightly better than a one-in-three chance, so he shouldn’t count his chickens before they’ve danced. But he has already impressed the judges with his versatility. The August 13 episode will be the first live eliminations, so we’ll find out them if the audience is just as impressed.

There’s a first time for everything. And maybe a last time too. It’s par for the course on “So You Think You Can Dance” that contestants would perform a wide variety of styles in their specialty and outside of it — except one. In the first live show of season 15 jazz dancer Chelsea Hough had to take on a tap routine with her partner and fellow contestant Evan DeBenedetto. As the judges noted during their critiques, this was the first time anyone on the show was asked to perform a tap routine when it wasn’t their own style. That’s because it requires such a specific skill set. And the results were pretty rough.
Fair is fair, you might say. Each pair of dancers on Monday night had to dance two duets, one in each partner’s style. Hough was paired with DeBenedetto, who had to perform a...

“So You Think You Can Dance” season 15 starts its live shows tonight, August 6, with its top 10 contestants performing for America’s vote. But America has already voted for their favorites in our informal polls, and based on those results it looks like Jensen Arnold and Evan DeBenedetto are the ones to beat. Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Latin ballroom specialist Arnold wowed the judges when she took on an unfamiliar jazz routine in the last round of judges’ cuts when the top 10 women were whittled down to 5. And she comes from a formidable family of dance. Her big sister Lindsay Arnold competed in season nine of “Sytycd” and became a Mirror Ball Trophy winner on “Dancing with the Stars.” And their little sister Rylee Arnold will be a pro dancer on “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”
