“Om Dar-b-Dar” is a true cult-classic that deserves to be counted among the best films that India has ever produced. In an attempt to carve out his own place in the vast landscape of Indian cinema, auteur Kamal Swaroop managed to create a timeless masterpiece that has no real predecessors in the country’s cinematic tradition but is now seen as an endlessly influential masterpiece which has inspired contemporary directors like Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap on their own filmmaking journeys. Due to complications with the relevant authorities, “Om Dar-b-Dar” was not commercially released in the country at the time but it achieved critical acclaim at foreign film festivals and even earned the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie in 1989.
One of the most impressive things about “Om Dar-b-Dar” is that it resists any restrictive categorisations. It is extremely easy to label it with dismissive tags like a ‘coming-of-age’ film,...

Ashish Lakhia, the 49 year old renowned art director, who, has to his credit of providing his expertise to films like Holi, Mirch Masala and Maya Memsaab departed for heavenly abode yesterday morning. The reason for his death is being cited as multiple organ failure with his lungs giving way first, followed by other complications. Even though the surname may act as a giveaway, still, not many know that Ashish happened to be the cousin brother of director Apoorva Lakhia and also the brother of actor Aditya Lakhia (known for his 'Kachara's role in Lagaan). Besides being an art director par excellence, Ashish was also a painter and even had an exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery about 20 years ago, that was well received. Bollywood Hungama sincerely prays for the departed soul of Ashish Lakhia to rest in eternal peace.

'Shakal Pe Mat Ja' is a Gaasmandu film!!!! If you don't understand what it means, well this is the lingo of today's generation that is often used in this film, meaning 'All Gas'.
A light-hearted comedy, the film is literally a one-day show in terms of the time span of the story and as well as its exhibition.
The prologue begins with an absurd amateurish scene of the 55th World Terrorist Awards taking place in some god-forsaken.

If you remember back in August we took the piss out of a trailer for Wilson Louis' film Mallika. Well it looks like Louis has a thing for the supernatural and has another film due out for release in the new year called Kaalo.
Here is the synopsis as provided by the source, The film revolves around a deadly witch attacking a bus in the deserts of Rajasthan for the killing of a young played by Shwini Khare. The film star cast includes Aditya Shrivastav, Panitalji, Sheela David, Raj Arjun, Aditya Lakhiya, Abhijit satham, Madhurima, Tripta and Hemant Pandey among others. The film claims to be inspired by a true incident of a witch murdering a 12-year old little girl in the remote deserts of western India. It looks like recession has given Bollywood directors a chance to live out their acting fantasies. The season of directors turning actors is upon us full-blast. After a full-fledged debut as leading men by Farhan Akhtar and Rituparno Ghosh and cameos by Sudhir Mishra (Corporate), Karan Johar (Luck By Chance) and Anurag Kashyap (Luck By Chance), it is Apoorva Lakhia's turn. Unlike his colleagues, Lakhia will be seen as a villain in buddy Sanjay Dutt's film Knock Out. Ironically, he plays the guy who wants to kill Dutt. He plays what a source from the film's unit describes as, "The villain, a highly scientific very precise killer who uses a combination of killer squads, sophisticated technology and razor-sharp mind to locate and liquidate Sanjay Dutt...Lakhia's character turns the tables on Sanju so quickly and with lethal efficiency. His character is volatile and unpredictable. Lakhia takes the audience...
