Byron A Martin Productions’ Los Cabos International Film Festival co-production forum selection Wolverine Hotel has secured financing.
As the festival got underway this week in Mexico, Martin announced that executive producer Jean-Guy Després has boarded the thriller starring Riley Keough.
Latina Canadian filmmaker Patricia Chica will direct the story with a supernatural twist about three drug addicts. Andrew Lynch wrote the screenplay.
“I accepted to get involved in the financing of Wolverine Hotel because I find the project extremely viable both from a commercial and financial points of view,” said Després.
“Being directed by a young up-and-coming filmmaker like Patricia Chica, with a strong creative vision, this film has the potential to also do well in the international film festival circuit.”...

Byron A Martin Productions’ crime drama Wolverine Hotel will represent Canada at the Los Cabos International Film Festival and Co-Production Forum.
The film went through the Atlantic Film Festival’s Strategic Partners co-production market in Halifax recently and stars Riley Keough (pictured) of the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road.
Patricia Chica directs and will attend the Mexican event later this month with producer Byron Martin, who said his primary goals weren to confirm a co-production partner and sign a sales agent.
Wolverine Hotel is based on a screenplay by Canadian Andrew Lynch about three drug addicts trapped in a grim environment.
“Byron A Martin has been selected for our inaugural project exchange programme,” said Strategic Partners director Laura Mackenzie.
“He embodies the world-class talent we have here in Canada and the project he has in development is impressive and perfectly suited for co-production.”

Adam Goldberg was staying under an assumed name in a hotel that tried to charge him $20 for some toothpaste when I caught up with him about his latest record, The Goldberg Sisters. He got out of the crowded LANDy business after confusing debacles with a Taiwanese pop singer, a Mexican troubadour and another Landy who was already on Myspace featuring Auto-Tune raps with titles like "I Just Wanna Fuck."
Thus, out of a necessity to differentiate himself, The Goldberg Sisters were born. Incidentally, there really are two Goldberg sisters, but it's clear at this point that they have nothing to do with this record. We talked about all the twiddling that went down, and then moved on to some mutually favorite subjects, like David Lynch film scores, and the little moments in films that stay with you forever.
The last time we spoke you had just released a record as Landy,...

Chad Ferrin's latest feature Someone's Knocking at the Door is truly one of the most shocking sexually deviant horror films to go out thus far in 2010 and the special features on the DVD show a gamut of behind the scene features and extras. Included on the DVD, released May 25th, is an audio commentary from Ferrin himself and actor Noah Segan (Justin), an audio commentary with Ferrin and actor Timothy Muskatell who plays Detective Young. As well, there is a fourty minute "making of documentary," deleted scenes, extended scenes, a five-minute black and white film entitled "Taldon Drug Test Subject #1" and a whole slew of other extras each of which has been listed below. If you have not heard of Ferrin's independent feature Someone's Knocking have a watch of the red band trailer below and become familiar with this "grueseome and graphic horror tale" (Someone's).
