After a scandal involving former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, Joe Muzzalla was promoted to fill the position. While expectations weren’t too high when the first-time NBA head coach took over, he led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals and has had continued success. Now, many fans want to know as much as they can about the man leading one of the most storied franchises in the league to what they hope will be a championship.
Here’s more about Joe’s life off the court with his wife Camai.
Joe and Camai met when they were both coaches in college
Joe was born on June 30, 1988. He comes from a basketball family as his father, Dan Muzzulla, played college basketball at Bryant University and professionally for five years in Chile. His brother, Justin, also played college basketball, first for George Washington University before transferring to the University of Vermont.

It’s not only because of its similar time frame that Boris Lojkine’s hurtling, headlong social-issues drama “The Story of Souleymane” recalls “Two Days, One Night” by the Dardenne brothers. Lojkine’s film, which was awarded the jury prize and a well-deserved best actor award in the Un Certain Regard competition in Cannes, is similarly invested in its electrifying lead — non-professional Abou Sangare, making an unforgettably persuasive and poignant debut — and similarly effective in maintaining a level of urgency and high-stakes personal peril that few genre thrillers can muster. If the hero’s dire situation is a ticking clock, Lojkine’s intelligent and empathetic film places us right alongside him, with each cog of circumstance and each gear of good fortune grinding against him at every turn.

Francis Ford Coppola is best known for his work on The Godfather trilogy. The accomplished filmmaker is one of the era-defining filmmakers of the 70s up to the 90s, where he made some of the best works of his career. Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders, Peggy Sue Got Married, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and The Rainmaker were some of his other great works.

Nathalie Emmanuel’s first trip to the Cannes Film Festival was certainly a memorable one.
The “Fast and Furious” franchise star and “Game of Thrones” alum knows what it’s like to be in the spotlight, but Cannes is unique. First, consider the fact that she’s the leading lady in legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola’s longtime passion project “Megalopolis,” which made its world premiere at the festival. Then, there’s the reality of ascending the famed red steps to the Palais des Festivals.
“This whole experience has been like nothing I’ve ever had before,” Emmanuel told Variety the next day. “That moment was so much bigger and so much grander — I just had no concept of how crazy it would be, how exciting it would be, how many people there would be. … It was quite overwhelming, but really exciting and felt like a real celebration.”

The most awaited film this year at the Cannes Film Festival, Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, had its world premiere Thursday night, with the dystopian epic decades in the making landing a seven-minute standing ovation.
Coppola, the 85-year-old director and five-time Oscar winners, bowed as the lights came up inside the Grand Theatre Lumiere. He was congratulated by his Cotton Club star Richard Gere and got a hug from Cannes boss Thierry Fremaux as the ovation carried on.
Said Coppola to the crowd finally: “Thank you all so much — it is impossible to find words how I feel.” He then introduced those around him — including his granddaughter and son and collaborator Roman Coppola and sister Talia Shire. He called his cast “family” and emphasized the movie’s end message: “We should pledge allegiance to our families…that children should inherit a beautiful world from us.”

Nathalie Emmanuel knows all about not talking about the projects she’s in. Seven years on “Game of Thrones” as the fan-favorite Missandei gave the Brit an instant lesson on the dangers of spoiling a show where much of its popularity rested on an endless supply of (mostly bloody) shocks and surprises.
But Emmanuel’s now unable to talk about something very different, and for very different reasons.
“Megalopolis” is without doubt among the most anticipated movies of the year. The hugely ambitious magnum opus — and potential final feature — from master filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola is a project he’s been trying to get off the ground since the 1980s. But it’s also a film shrouded in mystery and intrigue, self-financed to the tune of $120 million and with ongoing speculation over who might pick up the not inconsiderable tab to release it. After a tantalizing teaser clip that showed Adam Driver precipitously balanced on the edge of a skyscraper, Francis Ford Coppola has dropped an even more tantalizing full teaser for his $120 million self-funded epic, Megalopolis.
The trailer opens with a striking image of what might be rockets or asteroids falling toward a New York City-esque city that’s actually called The City of New Rome. As Laurence Fishburne’s character says, “When does an empire die? Does it collapse in one terrible moment? No, no. But there comes a time when...

It’s been just a few hours since Nathalie Emmanuel has seen Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis for the first time, and she’s settling on the right words to describe the experience.
“It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen,” says the actress, talking over Zoom from London in late April, as she pauses for a second to collect her thoughts.
Coppola’s epic, which will have its red carpet world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, casts Emmanuel in a starring role opposite a stacked ensemble that includes Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia Labeouf, Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Fishburne and Jason Schwartzman. “The movie feels like a real call to arms,” she says. “It asks big questions. In spite of all the horrible, hard and devastating realities of the world that we live in, how can we make it better? It feels like there’s hope or a possibility for something better.

With the appetite of a hungry grizzly, “The Bear” could gobble up a few Emmy records for its sophomore season. Fresh off a smashing first season that set a new benchmark for comedy series wins with 10 trophies, FX’s awards-gobbling show shows no signs of letting up. Its second season, which aired in June 2023, is eyeing three more records to own: most acting nominations for a series in a single year, most nods for a comedy, and most nominated episode in history with its sixth installment, “Fishes.”
“Fishes” dishes out a heated Christmas dinner flashback of the Berzatto family, positioning itself as the series’ pièce de résistance thus far — imagine the “Succession/Connor’s Wedding” version of family dinners, only with more food spills. Directed by Christopher Storer, who also co-wrote the episode with Joanna Calo, “Fishes” seems the obvious pick for Emmy nods in both directing and writing categories.

The Francis Ford Coppola passion project Megalopolis, an idea the 85-year-old filmmaker says has been brewing in his mind for around half of his life, is set to have its world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. In anticipation of the Cannes screening, the maestro himself, Coppola, has released our first look at some of the movie’s footage. It came with a sweet dedication to his late wife, Eleanor, reading:
Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife Eleanor. I really had hoped to celebrate her birthday together this May 4th. But sadly that was not to be, so let me share with everyone a gift on her behalf.
Just a few days ago, Vanity Fair unveiled an image from the film that features the characters played by Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel:

Francis Ford Coppola revealed in a preview of “Megalopolis” in Vanity Fair that he rewrote the script around 300 times before self-financing the passion project for $120 million by selling part of his winery estate in Northern California. The epic is set to world premiere in competition at the Cannes FIlm Festival in May. A first look photo from “Megalopolis” has debuted featuring Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel in their leading roles.
Inspired by H.G. Wells’ “Things to Come,” Coppola’s epic is set in a New York City-like metropolis in the aftermath of a catastrophic destruction. Driver plays an idealistic architect who wants to rebuild the city into something greater than what it was. Giancarlo Esposito is the city’s corrupt mayor hellbent on keeping things the way they were.

Though Megalopolis still doesn't have a distributor, the movie is expected to release before the end of the year, and we have a first official look at the sci-fi epic's main characters.
A lot of people were pleasantly surprised when Francis Ford Coppola's passion project came to fruition after the legendary filmmaker's previous failed attempts to get his vision off the ground, but the Godfather director announced that he had returned to the project back in 2019, and cameras started rolling in 2022.
Despite reports of some significant production issues, the movie wrapped late last year, and Vanity Fair has now shared the first official stills.
The images feature Star Wars actor Adam Driver as "an idealistic architect named Caesar, who hopes to rebuild the once great city, while Game of Thrones alum Emmanuel plays Julia Cicero, "the socialite daughter of a corrupt mayor (played by Giancarlo Esposito), and Driver’s character’s nemesis.

“Megalopolis” is finally here.
Francis Ford Coppola’s $120 million self-funded “Roman epic” debuted its first look featuring “Megalopolis” stars Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel who play a couple caught up in the revolutionary destruction of a utopian society.
Driver plays an idealistic architect and artist who is planning to rebuild a city that has fallen in part due to a corrupt mayor (Giancarlo Esposito). “Game of Thrones” alum Emmanuel stars as the mayor’s socialite daughter. The ensemble cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Shia Labeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman, D.B. Sweeney, Jason Schwartzman, Baily Ives, Grace Vanderwaal, and James Remar.
“Megalopolis” is debuting in competition at Cannes. Coppola told Vanity Fair that the long-gestating project was rewritten more than “300 times” across decades.

Francis Ford Coppola is a brand name and undoubtedly one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. And while he has provided us with a series of classic movies over his long career, he has been inactive for many years until he recently blessed us with Megalopolis, a movie that is just as ambitious as it sounds but may remain as one of the year’s biggest mysteries. We have already reported on the early reactions and struggles that the movie is facing going forward, and we are glad to confirm that Vanity Fair has blessed us with an exclusive first-look image from the movie, which shows the film’s two main actors, Adam Driver, and Nathalie Emmanuel.
If you’re not fully acquainted with it, Megalopolis is an interesting story altogether, as the movie was conceived way back in 1979, while Coppola was filming Apocalypse Now, one of the greatest war movies ever made.

In the coming months, British actors’ union Equity and producer trade body Pact are expected to kick off negotiations to thrash out new contracts that will cover the vast majority of U.K. TV and indie film. There’s going to be several major sticking points on the table, many that are near-identical to those that dominated the lengthy and fraught talks between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP in the U.S. last year, not least secondary payments and the hot-button topic of AI.
But while these may be the headline grabbers up for discussion, a group of actors have been campaigning for another issue to be part of the negotiations: hair and makeup equality.
In her 2023 documentary “Untold Stories: Hair on Set,” British actress and filmmaker Fola Evans-Akingbola brought to light how Afro hair had been shockingly overlooked by the U.K. industry in terms of on-set provisions and knowledge.

France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, will be the subject of a biopic series produced by French mini-major Gaumont.
The six-part show is being penned by Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau, who previously teamed on the thriller series “J’ai menti.”
Titled “Brigitte, une femme libre”, the series will chart the life of French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife. Gaumont is keeping the plot of the show under wraps and will be announcing the cast in the next few weeks.
Brigitte Macron’s life story surely provides plenty of material for a TV series. She met Emmanuel Macron while teaching theater at the Catholic high school Providence in Amiens. Macron was then 15 years old, while she was 40 and married with three children. In a recent interview with Paris Match, Brigitte Macron talked about her anxiety over their age gap, saying that her “head was in a mess” after she fell in...

‘Megalopolis’: After Wild Speculation, What Exactly Is So ‘Bats—’ About Francis Ford Coppola’s Opus?
Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for “Megalopolis”
Francis Ford Coppola has made quite the return to directing. Industry chatter about his new film “Megalopolis,” a passion project more than 20 years in the making, has been churning since a late March screening for prospective buyers.
This week, reports said Coppola was struggling to find a splashy distribution deal for his 135-minute epic, about a dystopia in the throes of an energy revolution. As a response — call it cosmic or intentional — Coppola rebounded by booking a spot in competition at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival, where the movie is looking to reset the narrative. It’s not dissimilar to the skepticism that greeted another Coppola passion project, “Apocalypse Now,” which was derided by many as a vanity project before it screened at Cannes as a work in progress, going on to capture the Palme d’Or.

Geez, the movies have really gone to the dogs. Sure, lots of folks constantly use that as an insult to modern cinema, but with this weekend’s big release it’s a bit true (so pardon the “groaner dad-joke” of a pun). Geez, the movies have really gone to the dogs. Sure, lots of folks constantly use that as an insult to modern cinema, but with this weekend’s big release it’s a bit true (so pardon the “groaner dad-joke” of a pun). With lots of kiddies enjoying either the end or the beginning of “Spring break”, there’s got to be more for them in the multiplex other than the further adventures of that Kung Fu Panda. “Arthur the King” suitably plays like an emotional endurance challenge. Director Simon Cellan Jones and screenwriter Michael Brandt, adapting Mikael Lindnord’s book “Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home,” take us through the ups and downs of adventure racing. They put our stamina, tear-ducts and psychological well-being to the test as we watch a team of underdog athletes attempt to cross the finish line in record time after befriending an ailing, scruffy street mutt. Our palms sweat, our hearts palpitate, and our spirits brace themselves for a windfall of feelings in the final act. This true-life tale about perseverance, compassion and second chances cuts right to the quick. While it doesn’t stray from a predictable path, the journey is rarely dull, making our travels and these characters’ travails feel worthy of the big screen.

Editor’s note: This post contain extremely sexually explicit details from the lawsuit against WWE founder Vince McMahon.
Updated, 1:51 Pm: Following a harrowing sexual assault and sex-trafficking lawsuit filed Thursday against Vince McMahon and World Wrestling Entertainment by a former WWE staff member, the wrestling mogul and current WWE owners Tko Group Holdings have broken their silence on the grisly claims.
“This lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and a vindictive distortion of the truth,” a spokesman for McMahon said today. “He will vigorously defend himself.”
“Mr. McMahon does not control Tko nor does he oversee the day-to-day operations of WWE,” a Tko spokesperson told Deadline this afternoon regarding the company’s Executive Chairman. “While this matter pre-dates our Tko executive team’s tenure at the company, we take Ms. Grant’s horrific allegations very seriously and are addressing this matter internally.”

One major factor that made Netflix’s Castlevania animated series click among audiences was the detailed world-building centered on gothic trappings that replicated the original game series’ scope and settings perfectly. Through four seasons, viewers got to familiarize themselves with the expansive world, explore a number of character arcs, and indulge in speculation, as the series opened such a vista of phantasmagoria that even after ending, it left numerous possible waypoints for further exploration.
The follow-up series titled Castlevania: Nocturne, which is streaming on Netflix, takes the lore into the late eighteenth century, during the late phases of the Age of Enlightenment. An era marked by extreme antithetical aspects as, on the one hand, reason and revolution prevailed over the western world, but at the same time, the horrors of colonization were getting into full swing as well. Centered in such a tumultuous period, Castlevania: Nocturne introduces viewers to the...

Death, darkness, decay, and damnation return with the ornate, mystifying and gothic trappings of Netflix’s original animated series Castlevania: Nocturne. Created by Konami, the renowned action/horror RPG game franchise of the same name dominated the game arena for over two decades up to the mid-2010s and got its due revival with Netflix’s original animated series consisting of four seasons. Arguably the strongest entry in Netflix’s original animation content, the series paved the way for a more accurate adaptation of game-oriented narratives, as well as instilling contemporary sensibilities with the creation.
Majorly revolving around the rivalry between the vampire hunter Belmont family legacy and Dracula himself, the Castlevania series has inspired a number of classic narratives dealing with gothic horror and similar themes. The recently released Castlevania: Nocturne acts as a follow-up to the original animated series. The narrative of the animated series has been adapted...

Naked Attraction has surged to capture the top spot on Max streaming service’s “Most Popular” series list a week after its U.S. release.
That’s pretty impressive for a 7-year-old British reality show that was added to Max with zero fanfare on Sept. 20. Media coverage and online chatter surged following a Hollywood Reporter story over the weekend pointing out that the controversial series had been added to the service. Max’s Top 10 is based on the number of unique accounts viewing relatively recently added content (so legacy titles like The Sopranos are not included). The show’s official ratings from Nielsen won’t be available for weeks.
The dating series features singles who judge and eliminate nude prospective dates. The show features close-up, full-frontal nudity and plenty of graphic discussion, though no sex is shown.

It’s like being on Tinder, but so much worse.
One of the U.K.’s most infamous dating shows (censored trailer below) was quietly added to the Max streaming service last week, and it’s already causing quite a stir.
The streamer has imported six seasons of Naked Attraction, a game show that promises to “start where a good date often ends — naked.” In each episode, a single “chooser” critiques and eliminates six potential dates standing on a stage by scrutinizing their fully nude bodies, which are gradually revealed one part at a time (faces are revealed last). When only two potential dates remain, the chooser strips out of their own clothes too, giving the remaining two contestants the opportunity to critique them. The final couple then go out on a date, with their clothes on.

The late “Margaritaville” singer and leader of his “Parrothead” fans had another memorable experience with flying creatures — in the 2015 film “Jurassic World.” In an uncredited role, Jimmy Buffett played a bartender at the infamous dinosaur-filled park (which can’t quite keep its animals in their enclosures).
His own Margaritaville bar and restaurant also makes an appearance, with an Isla Nublar location appearing on the theme park’s main concourse. When pterosaurs are let loose on the park’s unsuspecting visitors, the crowd runs in terror. This includes Mr. Buffett fleeing the bar — but he also makes sure to save two precious margaritas, one in each hand, as he flees.
“My number one goal of the movie is for Jurassic World to feel like a real place,” director Colin Trevorrow said in a behind-the-scenes featurette. “We wanted it to feel like a Fiji resort, and when you go down that main street,...

Weeks ago, John Woo posted on social media that he was recently in Paris for the production of the English-language remake of his classic Hong Kong action film, The Killer, which starred his Scorsese’s “De Niro,” Chow Yun-Fat. The remake of the same name is set to star Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy. There is no word yet on how much the remake will stay close to the original’s plot. There are also minimal details on the project outside of Woo, the two leads, and the location. However, it is said to be planned for an exclusive release for the streaming service Peacock.
Producer Charles Roven, who is a frequent collaborator with Christopher Nolan, and is currently enjoying the success of their latest outing, Oppenheimer, recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on a bevy of topics involving his projects and Roven relinquished some details on the John Woo remake.

Nathalie Emmanuel is the latest star to join the voice cast of the immersive animated series “Ghosts of Ruin.”
The announcement that the “Game of Thrones” and “Fast and Furious” franchise costar would bring her voice talents to the new series was made during the “Ghosts of Ruin” Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
“Literally, I’m emailing the agents right now in this panel,” executive producer Michael Ramey quipped, underscoring just how “real time” the news had developed.
In May, Variety exclusively revealed that Rosario Dawson and Tony Revolori had joined the cast of the animated series, which follows a group of gamers as they compete in the first-ever neural reality battle royale game, named “Ruin.” However, a malicious virus appears and transforms their utopia into hell.
Emmanuel will voice Dr. Angela Tucci, who Stippec teases is “a very monumental, pivotal character in the run of the show.

Very rarely do filmmakers helm the remakes of their own films. In these cases, they are movies like 1993’s The Vanishing, in which director George Sluizer remade his original 1988 international thriller of the same name for an English-language adaptation in the United States with American stars Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland and Nancy Travis. Action legend John Woo would do the same, albeit to a smaller degree, as he remade his 1991 film, Once a Thief, into a TV movie in 1996.
The guns-a-blazing maestro is at it again. This time, with the movie that many regard as his best film, 1989’s The Killer, which starred his frequent collaborator, Chow-Yun Fat. According to World of Reel, Woo has already started production on the remake of The Killer, which will be taking place in France. The film is set to star Nathalie Emmanuel and Omar Sy. "How much does it take to corrupt a soul?" Discover what it takes in this compelling new thriller short film titled Mathlete, from a talented up-and-coming Ghanaian filmmaker named Ebeneza Blanche. It's set at an elite Ghanaian boarding school, following a group of students in a math class. The focus is on one named Emmanuel, who is a model student, as his teacher points out. But he doesn't have enough money to pay the school fees – until he comes up with a plan one night. This stars Emmanuel Wilberforce, Yaw Filla, Glenn Ascencion, Eben Badu, and Malachi Manukure. It's pretty clear this is made by a super smart filmmaker who knows what he's doing. I'm looking forward to seeing him make a full-length feature, which will hopefully making him mainstream. Until then, even at 15 minutes, this short is definitely worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›...

When Justin Lin stepped away from "Fast X" citing that age-old excuse of "creative differences," Universal was forced to hire a replacement immediately. At the time, shooting on the 10th "Fast and Furious" movie had just got underway, with Lin leaving days after the cameras started rolling on a film that would form part of one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood history.
Lin had overseen multiple films in the "Fast" saga, from "Tokyo Drift" to "Fast & Furious," "Fast Five," "Fast and Furious 6," and "F9." He was the man in charge as the franchise shifted away from street racing and towards the all-out action blockbuster series it's known as today. So to put it mildly, when Universal drafted in "Clash of the Titans" director Louis Leterrier, he had a hell of a task ahead of him.

For months now, thanks to the steady drumbeat of both Universal’s ace marketing department and various members of the cast on social media, we have been informed that “Fast X,” the tenth movie in the franchise, is “the beginning of the end of the road.” And that an eleventh film, once again directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier (who joined the series after creative differences led to Justin Lin leaving “Fast X” mid-production), is soon on the horizon.
Everybody is back for “Fast X,” from series regulars like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang to more recent additions like John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel and Jason Statham, to car-loving characters completely new to the franchise like Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, Jason Momoa (stealing every scene he’s in), Daniela Melchior and, for some reason, Rita Moreno. You may recall that the last entry in the Fast and Furious saga, 2021’s F9, featured a sequence in which two of the Avengers our heroes—the comic foils Tyrese Gibson and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges—drove a car into outer space. There is not anything quite as wacky as that in the 10th and latest installment, Fast X, but there are still plenty of reality-defying stunts that keep this franchise from returning to Earth in any fashion that’s recognizably rooted in reality.
Still, back in F9, one got the sense that the film was at least leaning into its sheer ridiculousness, which made it more palatable and entertaining. With one notable exception, however, Dominic Toretto’s much-discussed Family is now taking itself far too seriously. As a result, the 141-minute movie is a fairly lumbering and tedious sit.

If last year’s Bésame Mucho lineup was a Latino mom’s cleaning playlist, this year’s festival is that plus a Latino dad’s go-to songs on his way to work. On Tuesday, Bésame Mucho announced the lineup — including headliners Maná, Los Bukis, and Gloria Trevi — for its second consecutive festival.
Hosted at Dodger Stadium on Dec. 2, the massive festival is set to return with a stellar list of performers, including Alejandro Fernández, Pepe Aguilar, Natalia Lafourcade, Reik, Camila, and Belinda. It also features a number of returning acts from last year’s celebration.
