- Martin Bookspan was born on July 30, 1926 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for Guiding Light (1952), New York Philharmonic New Year's Eve Concert (2005) and Claudio Arrau: The Emperor (1987). He was married to Janet Sobel. He died on April 29, 2021 in Aventura, Florida, USA.

- He was the announcer for "Live from Lincoln Center" from the very first broadcast, in 1976, until the May 25, 2006 retrospective "30 Years of Lincoln Center", after which he retired. The new announcer for the program is Fred Child, one of the hosts of National Public Radio's "Performance Today".
