2022 has been quite the year for fans of the beloved Scream franchise. It hosted the first theatrical release in the series since the fourth installment back in 2011. It also allowed us to revisit our favorite fabled town of Woodsboro. Meeting wonderful new characters like Mindy, Chad, and the Carpenter sisters – while catching up with the horror genre’s most esteemed trinity: Gale, Dewey, and Sidney.
Scream 2022 was not only a love letter to the late Master of Horror, Wes Craven, and the genre he’s left such a legendary mark on – but of the stand-out slasher series that changed the foundation of horror in the mid-to-late nineties.
To no surprise, audiences reciprocated the affection of the cast and crew as the film was widely enjoyed and celebrated by the horror community. The outpour of love and support from fans was a clear indicator that the Scream franchise was in...

To get the obvious out of the way: yes, if we're being completely honest, the original "Scream" is technically the best film in the franchise. It's got the tightest script, the best opening scene, and probably one of the best-executed killer reveals in the slasher genre. It has a plot that feels meticulously crafted, and it does a tremendous job of balancing the mix of comedic and horror elements that these movies are so famous for.

After learning that he’d lied about Baby Geri dying, Gale clobbered the jerk with a lantern, the place went up in flames and poor lil Cordi became convinced it was his fault because he’d brought the lantern to the barn to watch a comet with Denise. Got that? Good, because once the smoke cleared, there was even more to deal with: Gale was taken into custody, Abby (Molly Hagan) got her long-overdue apology and ...
