Stars: Philip Hersh, So-nee Jeon, Sun-kyun Lee, Young-yu Lee, Hae-Joon Park | Written and Directed by Jeong-beom Lee
Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage, directed by Lee Jeong-beom, stars Lee Sun-kyun as the titular character. A washed-up double-crossing crooked detective who on his latest illegal exploit is uncovered in a larger underground criminal conspiracy scheme that splits his personal life and career in half.
Think a Korean spin on Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver meets Abel Ferrera’s Bad Lieutenant. The story itself, written by Lee Jeong-beom and Im Beom, isn’t all that dissimilar from your usual anti-hero detective thriller born out of conventional genre tropes and flood the South Korean market. However, Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage offers a decent escapade for its audience, with a balance of tone that works perfectly in a less than the harsh approach to the material that could easily be overly muddled and dark.

Tonya Harding’s longtime representative Michael Rosenberg this week ended their business relationship because, he claimed, she demanded reporters agree to not ask her about her past — or face a hefty fine.
Rosenberg announced he was quitting in a Facebook post on Thursday later shared by two longtime Olympic reporters, Christine Brennan and Philip Hersh.
“Unfortunately, we reached an impasse today regarding how to treat the press in the future,” Rosenberg wrote. “Her adamant and final position is that reporters must sign an affidavit stating that they won’t ask her anything ‘about the past’ or they will be fined $25,000.”

Let’s not mince words. Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova owned the night. Seemingly out of nowhere, the Russian figure skater became a podium contender (not to mention EW’s Olympic Stud of the Day) on Wednesday. With Thursday’s finals, she proved she was worthy of the title once more.
As was only appropriate, Sotnikova’s path to victory started with some no-joke training methods:
Though Sotnikova didn’t smack — or at least wasn’t filmed smacking — the rink’s wall before her free skate like she did before the short program, the 17-year-old was nonetheless impressively intense as she landed doubles,...
