There have been rumors about a solo Hulk project being in the works in the MCU, specifically World War Hulk, which makes sense given the number of Hulk allies and antagonists that have begun populating the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Liv Tyler will be returning to the MCU as Betty Ross. Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross will now be played by Harrison Ford. The Leader, one of the Hulk’s most notorious villains, is set to make his debut in the MCU as well. The Abomination still roams free (albeit reformed).
Mark Ruffalo as Hulk in a still from Thor: Ragnarok
We also know that Hulk’s half-alien son Skaar exists in the MCU, making his debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Given that so many Hulk characters now populate the MCU, World War Hulk rumors have picked up some steam in the past few months.

"She-Hulk" introduces us to Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner's cousin and the latest superhero in the McU's Phase Four. While the buzziest cameo in the Disney+/Marvel series was probably the long-awaited return of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, the show's Oct. 13 season finale managed to slip in another hint about the future of the Marvel universe. In the episode's closing minutes, we're introduced to Skaar, the Hulk's son - and a notable figure in the Marvel comics.
Who Is Skaar in the Marvel Comics?
In the comics, Skaar is the son of the Hulk (aka Bruce Banner) and Caiera, an alien woman from the planet Sakaar. During a great war on Sakaar, the Hulk is captured by the evil Red King, then eventually frees himself and leads rebel forces. Caiera, previously forced to work for the Red King, betrays him and sides with Hulk, who eventually emerges victorious as the new king.

(This article contains spoilers for the first two episodes of "She-Hulk: Attorney At Law." Please proceed with caution.)
In the pilot episode of "She-Hulk: Attorney At Law," True Believers learned that Jennifer Walters got her Hulk powers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during a car crash while on a road trip with her cousin, Bruce Banner. Both bloody after the wreck, his blood dripped onto Jen and into her bloodstream, mixing his gamma-irradiated blood with hers and triggering a transformation.
While this is more or less in line with her comic origin (aside from the blood transfusion happening accidentally on the show), one hugely important detail that sets the Disney+ series apart from the source material is the spaceship that causes the crash. A Sakaaran vessel descends from the sky directly in front of Bruce and Jen's car, blocking the road ahead and causing the cousins to overturn their car while swerving off the highway.

We've known for quite some time already that Thor: Ragnarok would incorporate elements of Planet Hulk. We just didn't really know which elements those would be outside of the gladiatorial games that will be featured in the film.
Well, thanks to director Taika Waititi, we now know that Sakaar will also be included in the film. For those of you not familiar with that name, it's the planet that Hulk finds himself on in the Planet Hulk comic book storyline. Talking about the planet in Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi said:
“Sakaar was just an insane, far-off, futuristic place which was the biggest shift for the film and these characters."
I have a feeling a majority of the story is going to take place on Sakaar and that this is going to be the closest thing we get to seeing a Planet Hulk movie. Here's a more detailed description of Sakaar,...

For years, comic book fans have wondered when Planet Hulk would get its cinematic due. Bruce Banner’s involvement in Thor: Ragnarok suggests that it’s set to come in next year’s superhero blockbuster, and now, director Taika Waititi (Hunt For the Wilderpeople) has confirmed that the well known set piece will finally be seen, in its full glory, when the threequel arrives next year.
The news was confirmed in a recent interview with Total Film (via Collider and McU Exchange), where Waititi noted that Sakaar, the titular planet itself, will indeed be featured in Ragnarok. He also gave a couple more details regarding what exactly its big screen debut will entail.

When Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner set off for exile in a space-capable quinjet at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, long-term fans of the Marvel comics always wondered if they were being fed a giant Planet Hulk-shaped easter egg. Last year, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo combined two things that Japanese gamers love: Musou and The Legend of Zelda. The result was Hyrule Warriors, a Wii U exclusive that allowed gamers to pummel thousands upon thousands of mindless foes as Link and many of his beloved friends. For some, this was a match made in Gaming Heaven, but the experience wasn’t for everyone. Still, due to its subject matter, fan service and uniqueness, Hyrule Warriors managed to do quite well, and has sold well over one million copies worldwide.
As of today, what was once a Wii U exclusive is no longer that, as Hyrule Warriors has migrated its way to Nintendo’s portable 3Ds with a new subtitle: Hyrule Warriors Legends. Combining everything that its console counterpart had to offer, with new stages, themes, locations and characters, it’s a content-packed affair that feels right at home on the device’s smaller screens.

Welcome to Issue 53!
Summation: It’s a column about superhero movie news, rumors and speculation.
Today: Hulk Is Going To Space. What’s gonna happen out there?
The Hulk gets shot into space at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I guess I wasn’t expecting this news to break in the calendar year, but we’ve known for a bit over here at Lr headquarters and just been debating when it’s fair to talk about the end of Avengers 2, considering we’re not even past Guardians of the Galaxy yet.
However, that doesn’t mean that I’m not psyched to be able to talk about it.
It’s been a long gauntlet of anyone officially Marvel sanctioned saying Planet Hulk will never happen that we were straight out lying. Then the furious fanboys jumped in to laugh about Latino Review, those crazy guys, what with their nonsense.

You know why Red king crabs are called Red king crabs? Because they're crabs, that are big and red. But what happens when a Red king crab... isn't red at all? That's the question that has been baffling scientists in the past few days, after a particularly strange looking crab arrived at a Japanese port the other day.
As reported by the New York Post, wholesalers at the port were shocked to discover that one of the king crabs that came in from Russia was a lavender color, rather than the usual red. The crab (seen above) was the only one in the shipment that was unique, which has led the company's president to believe that it's perhaps a sign of good things to come. "I’ve been dealing with crabs for 25 years," he said, "but this is the first time to see that color. It could be a good omen.

With rumors abounding that the popular storylines "Planet Hulk" and "World War Hulk" may serve as the basis for the next Hulk movie and third Avengers movie respectively, fans are looking back to those storylines to see what elements the movies might borrow if the rumors prove true.
One of the most intriguing aspects of those storylines were the allies that Hulk gathered during "Planet Hulk" and brought back to Earth to aid him in wreaking havoc during "World War Hulk." That assemblage of aliens, known as the Warbound, are represented by species from every corner of the universe, united by their loyalty to the Hulk who proved himself a worthy leader on the planet Sakaar.
This week in Galaxy Guide, we're going to take a look at each member of the Warbound, and see what they contribute to the force the Hulk uses to bring vengeance to Earth.

Mark Ruffalo may get his own Hulk movie, with a storyline based on Marvel's Planet Hulk. What do you think of the idea?
Away from the myriad Star Wars spin-offs that it looks like we'll be getting over the next few years, all the talk this week in the geekosphere has centred on a possible new Hulk movie based on the 2006 comic-book storyline Planet Hulk. Latino Review suggests that once the great green rage machine has done his duties in The Avengers 2, which is due for May 2015, he'll be sent off into outer space to ensure he cannot do any more damage to the poor old battered Earth. At first glance this looks like a pretty preposterous proposition: Planet Hulk is one of those outlandish sci-fi-style storylines beloved of Marvel that might not translate well to a live-action big-screen movie, where screenplays need to be built around the charisma...

Is Marvel set to position The Avengers 2 and 3 to set up a big Hulk adventure?
Potential spoilers for Avengers 2 and 3 lie within.
It's a widely held belief that the Hulk was one of the best things about The Avengers, but with Mark Ruffalo being the third man to play the Hulk/Bruce Banner in a decade it was up in the air as to whether the character(s) would receive a standalone movie. Marvel's Kevin Feige had hinted that if one were to come, it would be after the release of The Avengers 2 meaning that it would form part of Marvel's phase three.
Well, the good people over at Latino Review have been some digging, as they have a habit of doing, and have uncovered some rather tasty pieces of information regarding Marvel's potential plans for the the Hulk. Here's what they've found:

Marvel has been getting talked about a lot these last few years. With The Avengers in theaters recently, it seems that Marvel is the king of comic book films. Things might change after the general consensus of The Amazing Spiderman comes in, but even that can’t ruin Marvel’s name like The Green Lantern did for DC (to an extent).
DC, in my opinion, has the better selection of animated films. That probably has to do with the fact that DC has better stories, and more “mature” characters. With that said, Marvel’s animated films are fun, and with the next Spiderman film coming out, I thought now is a better time than any to talk about which ones I like the most.

There’s just over a month before the release of Ghost Story, the next Harry Dresden novel, and this urban fantasy fan is chomping at the bit. Butcher must have heard fans scratching at the walls, because he’s released the first two chapters of Ghost Story for our preview pleasure.
Jim Butcher popped my urban fantasy cherry, and it was a magical experience (no pun intended…okay…maybe a little pun intended). Since our literary tryst, where he was both patient and gentle, Butcher opened up an awesome reality where fantasy meets the real world setting; now like a junkie I can’t get enough.
If you like fantasy or detective fiction, then The Dresden Files are something you should definitely read. But you shouldn’t start here. Go away, and pick up Storm Front…shoo.
For the rest of us, here are those two chapters.

Private detective, full-time wizard Harry Dresden is back and faces some strange changes indeed in Jim Butcher’s exciting, page-turning twelfth novel in his Dresden Files series of books, Changes. This is the second review of the novel at this site, because the paperback is just out, and I managed to score a copy of it. The first review is a great one by my fellow reviewer at the site, the talented Amberdrake, and if you would like to compare the two, click here. My take on it offers a different perspective that I hope you can also enjoy.
Changes is a fairly long and complex novel, but it’s kept interesting by lots of twists and turns in the plot. The vampire Duchess Ariana of the Red Court and the Red King, whom Harry Dresden and the White Council of Wizards have warred with in the past, kidnap the...

Justin Tennison, a crew member on the "Deadliest Catch" boat F/V Time Bandit, has died.
The 33-year-old Tennison was found dead in a motel room in Homer, Alaska, Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 22), the Anchorage Daily News reports. Police say they found alcohol and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana in the room, but it's not known if they played any part in Tennison's death; an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
Time Bandit Capt. Andy Hillstrand posted a remembrance on his Facebook page, saying Tennison was "tough as a bull and was an all-around good hand."
"Justin fished commercially for many years, living in Alaska for 28 years," Hillstrand writes. "He worked on the Time Bandit, alongside his second cousin, Eddie Uwekoolani Jr., serving as Engineer during the tendering seasons, and joined the Time Bandit crew as a deckhand fishing the Red King 2010 and Opilio 2011 seasons."

Based on the Amazing story written by Greg Pak, this tells the story of how The Hulk has been exiled from Earth and crash lands on a planet called Sakaar. Through trials and tribulations and set against odds that some might think is too much even for The Green Goliath himself. Forced into slavery on a world run by “The Red King”, who is a monster all on his own that strikes fear into the hearts of his people and all those who oppose him, Hulk is placed in an arena to fight along others who have been captured. Danger and peril await those in this story, which is basically a mix of Gladiator meets the Hulk. The people of the planet claim Hulk to be the “Sakarson”, a legendary figure who will be sent to save them.

Liked the “Planet Hulk” DVD movie that Marvel recently put out? (Available everywhere as a 2-Disc Special Edition DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download, in case you haven’t seen it yet.) Then play the game. Be the big green monster as he slaughters his way through Sakaar’s alien arena and gets all the chicks. Click on the image below to get started. A whole new world of hurt! He was a monster, impossible to control, too dangerous to ignore. So Earth’s mightiest heroes exiled him into outer space. But now The Incredible Hulk crash-lands on the distant planet Sakaar, ruled by the tyrannical Red King. Sold into slavery, the Hulk becomes the planet’s mightiest gladiator—but his new masters get more than they bargained for when he forges a bond of brotherhood with his fellow fighters: crafty insectoid Miek, ruthless rock-man Korg, ex-shadow pirest Hiroim, and the noble-born rebel Elloe.

Planet Hulk is yet another entry in the long line of straight to DVD/Blu-ray, animated features starring famous comic book characters in stories that might be a little too big for a studio to actually pull off with a live action format. They give fans stories they want and are usually pretty good. This time around writer Greg Pak’s story Planet Hulk is translated right from the comics onto film and it’s actually pretty good.
The Planet Hulk saga was a comic book arch a few years ago about The Hulk being shot into space by a group of super heroes who thought Hulk was just too dangerous to have around. When the film starts, Hulk is already on a rocket heading out into space and is awoken with the news that Iron Man, Namor, Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and even Professor X are the people responsible.

I never get tired of hearing "Hulk Smash!", though that's not really what the latest Marvel-direct-to-dvd movie Planet Hulk is all about. It is about an animated adaption of the funky Greg Pak "Planet Hulk" storyline, where the unstoppable force of the Hulk winds up exiled from Earth and a prisoner in an alien arena, forced to fight for his life.
The DVD does the comic story proud, giving us a full-motion bash-up between the Red King's forces and our titular hero. There's also quite a few changes to accommodate the DVD movie, not the least of which is swapping out one prominent character for a different, mano-e-mano showdown.
Still, everything moves fast and flies into a pretty fantastic, though quite dark, showdown between the Hulk, now leading an army of rebellious slaves ("I am SpartacHulk!") against an invasion of the alien Spikes. Oh, and the Red King. There's always a Red King.

Your stock is rising, Marvel.
As always, it's hard to write about animated comic book movies without doing a bit of comparison. It's almost like I'm keeping score of Marvel Animation and DC Universe Original Animated, for some inexplicable reason. Then again, when there are only two games in town, it's hard not to. Regardless, the clearcut winner has historically been DC Animated, whose features typically feature better animation, more complex storylines, better writing and superior voice acting. However Marvel's newest entry, Planet Hulk, shows that Marvel is ready to knock a couple of dents in DC's armor.
Planet Hulk is based on the comic book storyline of the same name, but with some notable and necessary (and some unnecessary) differences. The essential story is the same: The Hulk (aka Bruce Banner, though we never see him in this version) is simply too dangerous to exist on earth anymore. Long-regarded...

"Planet Hulk," the latest animated feature from Marvel Studios and Lionsgate Home Entertainment, hits shelves today with a story inspired by one of the character's most popular story arcs in recent years.
Based on Greg Pak's 2006-2007 arc in the "Incredible Hulk" comic book series, "Planet Hulk" finds Marvel's green goliath transported to a harsh planet where he's enslaved and forced to compete in gladiatorial combat under the brutal rule of The Red King. Weakened by the journey through space, Hulk must rely on his savage instincts to survive the new environment, and eventually finds himself leading a rag-tag group of fellow gladiators.
"Planet Hulk" is directed by Sam Liu ("Superman/Batman: Public Enemies") with a screenplay by Greg Johnson ("Doctor Strange"). This review is based on the Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. Oh, and Spoiler Warning!

I'll have a review soon, and possibly more goodies as well, but right now I've got two posters autographed by acclaimed comic artist Alex Ross.
