A writer and editor, James Hereth was born in Queens and raised on Long Island. He moved to L.A. after graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and got his first work in production on the syndicated series
Night Flight (1981).
He's known as a co-creator of the live-action
Mowgli: The New Adventures of the Jungle Book (1998) for the Fox Kids Network, and writer for Chris Pratt's movie debut
The Extreme Team (2003) for Mandalay Entertainment and Touchstone Television.
Other writing work runs the gamut from the live-action detectives on
High Tide (1994), to the animated magical princesses of
LoliRock (2014), to the talking trucks roaring through
The Adventures of Chuck & Friends (2010) and
The Stinky & Dirty Show (2015).
He and
Rhonda Smiley released their debut graphic novel "Blowback" in 2021.
