After Hunter Biden’s attorneys threatened to sue Fox News for defamation, the network removed the six-part miniseries, The Trial of Hunter Biden.
Hunter’s attorneys threatened to sue Fox News for violating “revenge” laws and publishing since-debunked bribery accusations as part of a scheme to portray him inaccurately.
The letter, which President Joe Biden’s son’s counsel delivered to Fox News attorneys last week, includes a request for the network to “preserve all documents potentially relevant to the allegations in this letter” – a common precursor to litigation.
“We anticipate that litigation against Fox … is imminent,” the letter read.
Hunter’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has represented well-known people like Michael Jackson, Chris Brown and Winona Ryder.
Geragos demanded Fox News issue numerous retractions and corrections for reporting on Hunter’s overseas business schemes.

Jussie Smollett could soon be back behind bars after an Illinois appeals court today backed the ex-Empire actor’s disorderly conduct convictions stemming from a faked hate crime and playing fast and loose with the truth with Chicago cops.
“We affirm the judgment of the circuit court of Cook County,” said appellate Justices David Navarro and Mary Ellen Coghlan for the majority in a largely procedural based opinion released Friday.
On March 10 last year, after multiple trips to court, Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months’ probation over the staged early 2019 incident on the freezing Windy City streets. Proclaiming his innocence, Smollett was let out of the Cook County jail on March 16, 2022 after an Appellate Court granted a motion from his lawyers for a stay of the sentence pending appeal.
Now that appeal has failed with a 2-1 opinion.

Andrew Tate had a plan. It was late January, and he sat in a stark jail cell in a bland, four-story police structure in Bucharest, Romania. He’d been there since Dec. 29, detained on suspicion of organized crime, rape, and human trafficking. Andrew and his brother, Tristan, were escorted there handcuffed by Romanian officers after a raid on their home months earlier.
A few hours after Tate was arrested, there was a new tweet from his official account: “The Matrix sent their agents,” he wrote.

Andrew Tate has added a new legal adviser to his team, the high-profile lawyer Tina Glandian, whose past clients include Chris Brown, Jussie Smollett, and Kesha.
According to the BBC, Glandian appeared alongside Tate in a Romanian court Wednesday, Feb. 1. The controversial men’s rights personality again tried to appeal his preventative custody detention, which was extended until the end of February last month. The appeal was, again, rejected.

One of Jussie Smollett’s defense lawyers filed a “malicious prosecution” lawsuit Friday against the star witnesses at the actor’s hate hoax trial, saying recently dismissed defamation claims against him were fabricated “out of thin air,” wasting his time and money.
The new civil lawsuit from celebrity attorney Mark Geragos against brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo in Illinois state court followed shortly after a federal judge allowed a related defamation claim against Geragos’ co-worker Tina Glandian to proceed.

Former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett was sentenced to five months in jail on Thursday for concocting a hate crime hoax, in which he lied to police about being jumped by two men who yelled racist and homophobic slurs.
Judge James Linn also ordered Smollett to pay $120,000 restitution to the city of Chicago, plus a $25,000 fine, and to serve 30 months of probation. After the sentence was announced, Smollett stood up and said, “I am innocent and I am not suicidal.” Smollett continued to shout as he was led out of the courtroom and remanded to custody.
Linn delivered a scathing rebuke before rendering the sentence, saying Smollett had taken some “scabs off some healing wounds” because he wanted to make himself more famous.

Just more than three months after being found guilty on five felony counts, including lying to Chicago cops, over an alleged 2019 hate crime attack, former Empire actor Jussie Smollett was sentenced to 150 days in jail Thursday, starting immediately. While avoiding state prison, the incarceration comes as a part of an overall sentence of 30 months probation, $120,106 in restitution to the Windy City, and a further $25,000 fine.
When the sentence was unveiled and deputies prepared to take him to the Cook County Jail, Smollett pulled off his mask, stood up and repeatedly said, “I am not suicidal.”
“If anything happens to me in there, I did not do it,” the actor exclaimed. Led out of the courtroom, Smollett raised his fist in the air and yelled “I am not suicidal, I am innocent!”

Update: The Illinois Supreme Court rejected former Empire actor Jussie Smollett’s request to throw out charges against him.
In addition to that, the court rejected Smollett’s bid to remove the special prosecutor in the case. The decisions were announced on Friday.
Earlier: Almost two weeks after being newly indicted on felony charges arising from the alleged fake hate crime attack of January 2019, Jussie Smollett was back in court today, in more ways than one.
Appearing in a Cook County criminal courthouse to plead not guilty this morning, the former Empire star was also pleading with the Illinois Supreme Court to kill the latest charges. The filed motion for a stay and dismissal of special prosecutor Dan Webb’s February 11 move of six renewed charges claims that “the recent Smollett indictment wasn’t proper because the special prosecutor was appointed incorrectly.”

The actor — who came out in 2015 — filed a police report, claiming the attackers had shouted racist and homophobic comments as they poured an unknown chemical substance over him and wrapped a rope around his neck. Jussie Smollett’s lawyers filed a motion on Friday to overturn the appointment of a special prosecutor in his hate crime hoax case, arguing the appointment would expose the “Empire” actor to double jeopardy.
Smollett is seeking to reverse an order issued last month by Judge Michael Toomin, who faulted Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx for failing to recuse her office from the hot-button case.
The motion is the latest turn in a see-saw prosecution that began on Jan. 29, when Smollett claimed he was ambushed by two men who beat him, yelled homophobic and racial slurs, poured bleach on him and put a noose around his neck. The assault generated nationwide attention and sympathy, only for Chicago detectives to conclude that Smollett had in fact paid the two men, one of whom was his personal trainer, to stage the attack.
Smollett was indicted on 16 counts of filing a false police report.

A month after an Illinois judge ordered that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate the handling of Jussie Smollett’s abandoned criminal case, the former Empire actor said Friday he wants that move rendered null and void.
“Jussie Smollett, by his attorneys, Geragos & Geragos, respectfully requests that this Court grant his Motion, vacate the June 21, 2019 Order, and deny the Petition to Appoint a Special Prosecutor,” reads a filing made this morning in Chicago by Smollett and his high-profile legal team (read it here).
Calling the multiple charges case against the actor stemming from his January 29 claims of a racial- and homophobic-fueld attack on the streets of the Windy City “a travesty of justice and an unprecedented deprivation of Mr. Smollett’s constitutional rights,” Friday’s filing basically accuses Judge Michael Toomin of conducting a trial by media in what has been a heavily spotlighted situation from the get go.

Abel and Ola Osundairo, the brothers who were initially suspected of committing a hate crime against Jussie Smollett earlier this year, have filed a lawsuit against two of the “Empire” star’s lawyers, accusing them of defamation.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago on Tuesday morning, accuses Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian of the Geragos & Geragos law firm of knowingly making false statements about the Osundairo brothers’ involvement in the incident “to distract from Mr. Smollett’s farce and to promote themselves.”
In a statement, Geragos & Geragos called the lawsuit “comical” and characterized it as an attempt by the brothers “to stay relevant and further profit from an attack they admit they perpetrated.”
The Osundairo brothers were taken into custody by Chicago police shortly after the Jan. 29 incident, in which Smollett said he was randomly attacked by two men shouting racial and homophobic slurs in his Chicago neighborhood.

The two brothers who allegedly participated in a staged hate attack on Jussie Smollett have filed a defamation suit against Smollett’s lawyers, accusing the attorneys of smearing their reputations in a bid to salvage Smollett’s image.
