- Anne Deveson was born on June 19, 1930 in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya [now Malaysia]. She was a writer and producer, known for Do I Have to Kill My Child? (1976), Spinning Out (1991) and Achieving (1979). She was married to Ellis Manning Blain. She died on December 12, 2016 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

- Deveson helped establish the national body Schizophrenia Australia which is now called Sane.
- She was also a former head of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in the 1980s.
- She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1983 for service to the media and an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1993 for service to community health.
- Her 1991 book about her son's struggle with schizophrenia Tell Me I'm Here achieved international acclaim and won the 1992 Human Rights Award for non-fiction.
- Ms Deveson died on Monday 12 December 2016, three days after her daughter and fellow writer Georgia Blain, 52, died from brain cancer.
